Explore Table Mountain | Wildflowers & Waterfalls in Northern California
If you are looking for a super bloom in Northern California, take a look at Table Mountain near Oroville. The 3,300-acre reserve was formed by ancient lava flows and for a few weeks every year some 600 varieties of native wildflowers blanket the hillsides. The wildflowers are typically in bloom from the beginning of March to the end of April.

Hollow Falls North Table Mountain Oroville March 2019 CA - HD 4k drone video
I captured this video of this nice stream while looking for wildflowers in March 2019. It was an unusually nice spring day with blue sky and a gentle breeze. In early spring this is a very beautiful place where wildflowers are abundant.
Some of the unusual flying is due to my effort to hide the drones shadow in the stream.

Phantom Falls, Table Mountain (Butte County, Ca)
My recent hike across Table Mountain led me to Phantom Falls, a spectacular waterfall spilling over into Coal Canyon. My drone fought high winds all afternoon but in the end I was able to capture some excellent views. Phantom Falls is a waterfall at Coal Canyon near Oroville, California, within the North Table Mountain Ecological Reserve. The waterfall is 164 feet high and runs off the edge of Coal Canyon, in front of a grotto. Aerial video provided by Hawk Bait Aerial Photography. hawkbaitphoto.com

The town was originally called Ophir City, but the name was changed to Oroville when the first post office opened in 1854 (oro is gold in Spanish).[6] The City Of Oroville was incorporated on January 3, 1906.

Feather Falls Hike - Oroville California
I state in the video that this is a 10 mile hike, it's actually just a little over 9 miles. But there are hills to climb and some rocky footing so it can be a little bit of a challenge for some. I would consider this a moderate hike. This hike is 26 miles east of the town of Oroville CA. A must-do hike to put on your list. The water is raging in the spring and you will see an abundance of wildflowers, and water water water! (well this year anyway!) Sit back and enjoy the hike!

Alamere Falls Hike - Northern California Natural Wonder
One of the best hikes we have ever experienced in Northern California. Absolutely amazing views and beautiful site to explore. Alamere Falls is a rare tidefall that flows directly into the ocean. We managed to spent a day hiking and admiring this natural wonder deep within the Phillip Burton Wilderness. Spring is the best time to visit. Strongly recommended if in San Francisco area.

Cherokee Mine of Butte County
This beautiful piece of landscape is part of the Cherokee mining operation that occurred around the 1860s. It is the only diamond mine in California, and the site where the first diamond was found in California. The mine was discovered in 1852 by pioneers being led there by Indians! Fast forward to the 1870s and Cherokee was famous for being the largest hydraulic mine in the U.S. mining both gold, and diamonds. Over 50 million dollars of gold made its way out of these mountains during 1852 to around 1890 when mining stopped. California put in laws to stop all hydraulic mining around 1890 due to concerns over the environment. Once even the president Rutherford Hayes even stopped by to visit the mines in 1880, that’s how big an operation it was! The local township really was one of the famous gold rush boom towns of California at its peak boasting a population of thousands. Now when I went there, the only thing remaining was a museum that’s only open 2 days a year, and the boarded up historic post office, so it’s pretty desolate now. While the people have departed the beautiful landscape remains for us to discover. I hope you enjoy the sight of these once prosperous mines.
