BOSNIA: SERB REFUGEES TRY TO CROSS INTO SERBIA
Natural Sound
Hundreds of Serb refugees are gathering on the border of eastern Bosnia trying to cross into Serbia.
The refugees from northwestern Bosnia fled their homes following the advance by Croat and Muslim led government forces in the area.
But having reached the frontier crossing, only those refugees with close relatives in Serbia are being allowed through by the Bosnian Serb authorities.
They took to the road by whatever means of transport was available.
Hundreds of Serb refugees, fleeing the embattled areas of northwest Bosnia. Despite the truce, the Croat and Muslim-led government forces had advanced towards the Bosnian-Serb stronghold of Banja Luka in the northwest.
The refugees are trying to cross into Serbia at the Bosanska Raca border crossing in the northeast.
Young and old travelled for miles crammed into carts, tractors and vans, clutching the few possessions they'd been able to scramble together.
Upon reaching the Bosnian Serb checkpoint most of them were told they would not be allowed through. The authorities were rigorously checking documents and allowing only those who had close relatives in Serbia to cross the border.
This follows a move by the Bosnian Serbs to try and get refugees from the northwest to settle in areas such as the former Muslim enclave of Srebrenica which was overrun by Bosnian Serb troops four months ago.

Montenegro - Bosnia border | Road to Sarajevo, a broken path
After leaving Montenegro and passing to Bosnia& Herzegovina on that bridge, we found ourselves on the rough road till Foca with nearly empty gas tank.
Road conditions were extremely bad, mostly one lane full of with huge holes, many land slides. Because of lately rain, it was pretty slippery. Our rental car was a piece of junk from Avis(Do not rent a car from them!) Tyres were finished, due to that car was leaving the back in the corners. Barely sliding through corners.
This route do not recommended to drivers who do not have enough experience.

YUGOSLAVIA/BOSNIA - Border Closure Effects
Sremska Raca, normally the busiest border crossing between Serbia
and Bosnia, was quiet on Monday (8/8), four days after Yugoslavia
closed the border and severed ties with Bosnian Serbs. Since
August 4, when the Yugoslav government decided to break off its
economic and political ties with the Bosnian Serbs, only shipments
of goods such as food, clothing and medicine, exempted from the
decision, were to be allowed to enter Bosnia. The crossing at
Sremska Raca is clear, there are no queues of trucks and cars and
long lines of parked vehicles. Truck drivers have parked their
trucks three kilometres away from the border and wait there to see
if the situation will change.

BOSNIA: SARAJEVO: 100 BOSNIAN REFUGEES RETURN HOME FROM TURKEY
Eng/Serbo-Croat/Nat
More than 100 Bosnian refugees who escaped the war by fleeing to Turkey have finally returned to Sarajevo.
There were emotional scenes in the Bosnian capital as they were reunited with their relatives, who some of them hadn't seen for years.
The refugees, most of them women and children, had fled from the eastern Bosnian towns of Foca and Visegrad at the height of the war.
A chartered Russian transport plane brought home to Sarajevo 120 Bosnian refugees from Turkey on Sunday.
The refugees, most of them women and children, fled from the eastern Bosnian towns of Foca and Visegrad.
Their return flight was organised by the Bosnian Ministry for Refugees.
There are some five-thousand Bosnian refugees in Turkey.
One Sarajevan waiting for the return of his brother was unsure whether he would still recognise him.
SOUNDBITE:
I'm very excited but I do not know what my first reaction will be when I see them. I think, I even don't know if I will recognise my brother. He was this big when he went away and now he is 10 years old.
SUPER CAPTION: Voxpop
The joy for these families at being together was obvious.
But despite the excitement there were concerns about whether conditions were completely right for the return of all refugees.
For this man there was no doubt.
SOUNDBITE: (Serbo-Croat)
For me the situation is right, if not then we will fight.
SUPER CAPTION: Former Bosnian refugee
However there was no happy reunion for this woman.
SOUNDBITE: (Serbo-Croat)
I was so surprised to see so many people here but there is nobody here that I knew. My father has died and my husband was killed. I am alone with a six-year-old daughter.
SUPER CAPTION: Voxpop
The returning 120 refugees are the first out of a group of two-thousand refugees who are to be repatriated in the near future by the Bosnian Ministry for Refugees.
A further three-thousand will remain in Turkey until their return can be organised.
