Sacred New Zealand #4 Weka Pass Maori Rock Paintings
To get to Weka Pass you drive 1 hour north of Christchurch to Waikari. The path follows the old railway west, you will find the beginning a bit up the hill from the takeaway shop and hair dresser. If you follow the signs it takes about 45 minutes up a steep hill. But it's worth the climb.
Ancient Maori Cave Drawings in North Canterbury|WILD PLACES VLOG #1
THE ART HAS BEEN THERE FOR HUNDREDS OF YEARS...
Welcome to my first WILD PLACES vlog (video blog). The WILD PLACES vlog series will take you to some truly breathtaking locations and are my take on a vlog. They aren't your standard around town vlogging experience but my version of documenting a NZ outdoor adventure.
IN TODAYS VLOG:
I went to the ancient Maori rock art in North Cantebury and filmed my trip. Along the way I see some awesome limestone formations and try to decipher what the rock-art really means with my special guest, Tom.
This vlog series will run with my South Island Adventure videos and will show you some truly amazing places.

John from Timaru
John and Fleur spun and won $100,000 of round the world travel, on the live Lotto draw on Saturday 4 February 2012.
Meet John and his family from Timaru. John, a self confessed family man, lives in Timaru with wife Fleur, and their four children. John is a self employed manager, who's a bit of a jack of all trades, mostly building and building maintenance, Fleur is a stay at home mum.
His interests are biking, camping, chess, family activities and motorcycling, he is also a social Texas Hold 'Em player. John and Fleur's trip to Wellington to spin the wheel is like the honeymoon they never had!
We also meet the curator of Timaru's Te Ana Maori Rock Art Centre - a Lotto grant recipient that John is personally involved in working with.
