Other RVers were coming back to La Penita with stories of Tequila and Guadalajara Mexico and we knew we needed to make time to visit. We initially were going to take the bus, but it didn’t stop in Tequila non-stop so we decided to drive. We met-up with our tour guide Angel who gave us an unforgettable private tour of Tequila – the town and Rubio’s Distillery. Then we headed out the agave fields to drone over the endless fields of agave ready to be turned into tomorrows Tequila.

We only had one day to spend in Tequila, Mexico so, OF COURSE, we went on a tour of the Jose Cuervo Tequila Factory!!! This has been our favorite day in Mexico - HANDS DOWN! We started with a tour of the factory and, with our amazing guide, we learned what makes a great Tequila. After our tour, we had a small private tasting with a few other guests and learned the proper way to taste and drink tequila. It was an awesome day and we only wish we had more time to spend in this charming city.

(And, of course we know Mexico is in the Americas, however Americans is also a common name used to describe people from the United States of America. Just as Mexicans is a common name used to describe people from United Mexican States. Calling ourselves U.S. Citizens doesn't flow off the tongue as well and simply isn't the name we call ourselves. Plus, the title works well as click bait... ;-) It got you to watch!)

Tour de TEQUILA desde Guadalajara - Pueblo Mágico en Jalisco, México
Definitivamente no se puede faltar un viaje por la ruta del tequila si estás de visita en Guadalajara.
Tomamos un tour de Tequila desde nuestro hostal en Guadalajara que nos costó MX$550 por persona. Cabe mencionar que este no fue el famoso tour de Tequila en tren, que sale mucho más costoso.
Pasamos por una tequilera donde nos enseñaron el proceso de como se elabora el tequila artesanal desde las plantas de agave azul y aprendimos mucho sobre los diferentes tipos de tequila que existen. No eramos muy fans del tequila pero en este tour sí encontramos unas variedades muy ricas.
Fuimos mi esposo británico y yo y por eso hablamos en inglés y español durante el video. De hecho mi esposo no pudo elegir en qué idioma hablar grabando este video (tal vez sea culpa de los tequilas que ingeríamos). Él da su reacción como extranjero a esta bebida típica mexicana.
Ofrecemos nuestra perspectiva de como nos fue. Sinceramente, si vas a visitar Tequila, no recomendamos que lo visites en un tour como nosotros lo hicimos. Siento que hubiéramos tenido mucha más libertad de decidir cómo experimentar este pueblo mágico si hubiéramos ido en bus y desde allí organizar los tours.

Tequila Herradura Express - A Tequila Train in Mexico!
The Tequila Herradura Express departs every Saturday from Guadalajara to the Casa Herradura hacienda in Amatitán, Mexico. We did this trip in May 2017 and had so much fun! You sip tequila cocktails along the way as you cross fields of blue agave. Once at Casa Herradura, you tour the tequila distillery, have tequila tastings, each lunch, and enjoy a mariachi performers with dancers. The Tequila Herradura Express was such a fun day. How to Visit Tequila Mexico | Unlimited Tastings!!! | Tour of Tequila
Ever wanted to visit the town where your favorite alcohol was created? Yeah, so did I! That's why I took a visit down to Tequila Mexico!!! It's only an 1.5 hour drive from Guadalajara, Mexico in the Mexican state of Jalisco and worth spending a whole day. With unlimited tastings and a ton of mariachi music, the dance moves were abundant and the fun was free-flowing!
For 450 pesos ($23 USD), you get a full day tour at the Tres Mujeres distillery where you'll learn about the production process as well as the history behind the infamous alcohol. You can book a visit to Tres Mujeres through any travel agency in Guadalajara or (the easiest way) through your hotel/hostel! Salud!!! (Cheers in Spanish)

Touring the Last TEQUILA Producing Hacienda in the World | GUADALAJARA Travel & Drink Vlog
You can’t NOT go to a Tequila distillery when you travel to Guadalajara. We boarded the Tequila train to Casa Herradura, the last Tequila producing hacienda (estate) in the world, located in Amatitán next to the town of Tequila. The tour included taste testing their 100% pure agave spirits, a walk through the old and new distilleries, and traditional Mexican folkloric dance and music performances. Relive this day of day-drinking with my fam and friends through another Guadalajara Mexico travel vlog.
