Part one of the three-part vlog series of the Thakhek Loop. Staring in Thakhek, Laos, head East on Route 12. My stops were as follows:
1. Tham Xang Cave (Elephant Cave)
2. Tham Pa Fa Cave (Buddha Cave)
3. Xieng Liab Cave
4. Foreigner's Landing Lake (Tha Falang Lake)
5. Thang Nam Aen Cave
I then arrived in a small village in the sticks called Thalang where I stayed at the Sabaidee Guesthouse for 50,000 kip (Roughly £4.40).
I woke up in the morning and carried on with the second third of the Thakhek Loop going through Lak Sao near the Vietnam Border.

In this video we will tell you everything you need to know about Thakhek loop. When you will be visiting south of Laos you will definitely come to Thakhek and if you're fan of motorbike/scooter you will do the Thakhek Loop. It's the famous motorbike loop you can do here.
Where to sleep
KGB Guesthouse - clean, good atmosphere, you can rent a motorbike here
Sabaidee Guesthouse Thalang - first stop of the loop should be here. Really nice guesthouse with great prices, amazing atmosphere
Enjoyboy Kong Lor Cave - second day you can sleep close to the cave. Very basic but good room. Maybe you will have the same room as us without the key
What to see
Cool Pool - amazing natural pool but it has to be sunny
Kong Lor Cave - the most famous cave to do during the loop. Kong Lor cave is 7 km long and you will take a boat to cross the cave. AMAZING!
Blue Lagoon - it's not in the video but if you have time you can go there. It's bit far from the main road but if it's sunny it's perfect to calm down your body.
If you check mapsme you can see there are plenty of caves on this loop. Just choose one and visit.

Travel VLOG: Travel with me to Thakhek, Laos! Caves, mountains and lakes!
I took an extreme one day trip to Laos and honestly this place is grossly underrated!! Laos is beyond gorgeous with the mountains, caves and lakes! I went to two caves and a lake in the span of 4 hours. Here is my insane trip with my non english taxi driver doubling as my tour guide lol. He was so weirded out by me talking to my camera but bless his soul for taking care of me lol. I went to Tham Nong Pa Fa Cave which is better known as the Buddha cave. I took a little boat trip into the cave and then the actual temple portion is up some steps inside but its disresepctful to take any photos or video so you have to see that one in person. The second cave was called Tham Nang Ene and is also a must see! I was the only tourists at these places so It made the adventure just that much more authentic for me! You can also take a boat ride in that cave but I didn't because I didn't have a lot of time! The last spot was a cool lake place to chill called Tha Falang. The lake is somewhere you could spend the whole day with eating, drinking, kayaking and just hanging out in the area. It was super super gorgeous.

In this Laos travel guide 2019 we stay in a village called Thalang Laos in Phosy Thalang Guesthouse. And Khounmee guesthouse in Konglor Laos. We stay in a bungalow with hammock in Konglor with view over tobacco fields and mountains. Konglor has also the best cave in Laos.
On Thakhek Loop 2019 you have beautiful views over Laos lakes which actually is a damm in Thalang and Nakai Laos. We see beautiful sunsets. And we also find cute kittens, a cute goat and a monkey in a hidden valley.

Tha Falang, meaning “Foreigner’s landing”, is a large natural rocky swimming pool on the river close to limestone karsts, 1km east of Xieng Liab Cave and then 2km north off Route 12. This peaceful spot with shady trees has been a year-round place to swim and relax beside the water since colonial times, 80 years ago. The track can be flooded and inaccessible during the rainy season.
