SUNRISE BY BOAT & LOTUS @ THALE NOI, PHATTHALUNG / THAILAND
From Hatyai to Phatthalung by train took 2 hour to arrived Phatthalung station and half and hour to ban thale noi lake.
This place is one of the most interesting nature parks of Thailand and well worth a visit. A trip on the lake with a small boat takes about 1 to 2 hours and you should start early in the morning, as the lotus will close the flowers in the afternoon. There are a lot of different waterbirds. Also water buffalos may be seen as they eat the waterplants and grass.
We hired a boat for an hour for 450 baht. The boatman was great taking us to see the different sites and slowing down each time I raised my camera to take a photograph, In the end we were almost 2 hours for the same price. Wonderful lotus flowers and it was interesting to see the diversity of different parts of the lake. Birds and buffalo are very much in evidence. We went at 6am to enjoy the sunrise scenery over the boat and surrounded by lotus flowers around. A great experience to explore this place.

Thailand: Thale Noi Waterfowl Reserve
A 2-hour boat trip to see migratory birds at Thale Noi. If you arrive at the Hatyai airport, walk to the end of the car park in front of the arrival exit. There's a pick-up point with seats under a shed. The blue songthaew to town (30 Baht) travels along Phet Kasem Rd to Kanjanavanich Rd to the Hatyai Bus Station 1. You can press the bell to alight anywhere. From your hotel, take a tuk-tuk (200 Baht /tuk-tuk) to the Minivan/Bus Station 1 (near Central Festival Mall). At the Minivan Station, there's a desk counter selling minivan ticket to Thale Noi (100 Baht/person). The minivan departs every 2 hr from 8 am. Journey is 2 hr. It's more convenient than taking a bus from Bus Station 2 (near Tesco Lotus 2 /Hat Yai Nai) to the Phatthalung Bus Station and then take a minivan to Thale Noi. Also easier than taking train to the Phatthalung Train Station and taking a tuk-tuk to the Bus Station to take a minivan to Thale Noi. The minivan to Thale Noi stops near the Waterfowl Reserve entrance. Where you alight, there is a desk counter at a shop selling minivan ticket (70 Baht /person) to the Phatthalung Bus Station. To get to the train station, take a tuk-tuk from the Bus Station to the Train Station. Alighting at the Pak Klong train station to get to Thale Noi, 8 km away, is possible, but it's hard to find minivan at this minor train station.

LOTUS LAKE - Thale Noi and Bamboo Market: Exploring PHATTHALUNG, Thailand!
Phatthalung's Thale Noi Lotus Lake is world-famous, and for good reason! Some of the spectacular array of flowers only bloom once every 10 years! How amazing is that? What's more amazing is that we were fortunate enough to explore the lotus lake at the perfect time; yup, we saw them!
Phatthalung's Bamboo market is an obvious must-see, but we would highly recommend getting there early, wow does it get packed!
From a famous bridge to a cave-ridden temple, from a local sunrise hotspot to a quiet swimming canyon - Phatthalung is a two-day travel experience that begs you to spend some time in the south of Thailand.
If you have very little time, but still want to know some of the best things to do in Thailand, we suggest visiting Thale Noi. You get to go on a guided through thousands of vivid lotuses (more flowers if you're lucky), you get immersed in the local fishing culture, you cruise past water buffalo merely living their lives and you end up with a memory you get to keep forever, but don't take our word for it!
Enjoy the video!

Thale Noi
One of Thailand’s most important, and scenic, waterbird sanctuaries, Thale Noi is located in South Thailand’s Phattalung Province. Thale Noi – meaning Small Sea in Thai comprises of the northern limits of the large Thale Sap, (Freshwater Sea) which stretches off to the south eventually connecting to the Gulf of Thailand at Songkhla Town. The southern reaches are, despite the name, brackish but the northern end consists of freshwater marshes and lotus covered lakes that are home to a spectacular array of waterfowl. Thale Noi wetland is also one Thailand’s most significant Ramsar sites. - See more at:

Baan Pak Pra & Thale Noi, Phatthalung, Thailand.
Pak Pra Canal is a lifeline of local fishers. Head to where it empties into Thale Sap to gaze over hundreds of stilted fishing platforms, known as yor yak in Thai, with wide nets attached to wooden logs that are dipped into the water to catch fish. Boat trips can be arranged in Baan Pak Pra, the tiny village set just north of the canal.
The marshy, 450-square-kilometre Thale Noi (Small Lake; also spelt Talay) is the northernmost of the bodies of water that make up Thale Sap (Freshwater Lake), also known as Songkhla Lake. Birdlife is most abundant from November to March, when flocks travel here from as far north as Siberia. From February to April, the birds glide above hot-pink waterlilies amid a brilliant sea of colour.
The heron and stork family is prevalent in Thale Noi, with plumed egrets and purple herons fairly easy to spot.
Paradies Thale Noi

Thale Noi Non-Hunting Area.mp4
A roughly circular lake, 5 km by 6 km, situated roughly one km to the north of the main part of Lake Songkhla. It is surrounded on three sides by areas of open swamp vegetation, sedge beds and rice paddies. An extensive area of Melaleuca swamp forest (4,220 ha) extends to the north. The village of Ban Thale Noi is situated on the western shore. The area of open water occupies 2,800 ha, roughly 60% of which is covered with floating or shallow-rooted aquatic vegetation. Grasslands and sedge beds cover 10,870 ha, and paddies 6,640 ha (Anon, 1981). The principal inflow to the lake is run-off from the steep slopes of the forested Banthad mountain range to the west. Outflow is via the Khlong Nong Riam and Khlong Yuan into Thale Luang, Lake Songkhla. While the lake is permanent, there may be fluctuations of up to 1.0m in depth, water levels usually reaching their minimum in August. The average depth during most of the year is 1.2m; this declines to less than l.0m during the driest months. The lake is normally fresh to slightly saline (1.48 p.p.t.). At times of low water level during the driest months, some saline water enters the lake from Lake Songkhla, and the salinity may rise to a maximum of 3.5 p.p.t. The pH varies spatially and seasonally from 1.2-8.1 (average 4.4). The northern end, which lies in proximity to the Melaleuca swamp forest, is more acid than the south. The acidity increases during the rainy season as organic matter from acid humus leaches into the lake.
