The Burren Centre Kilfenora
The Burren Centre in Kilfenora was the first Interpretive centre in Ireland. It is at the gateway to the Burren and is a tourist information point also. All the staff are very helpful and can direct you to some hidden places. There is a major exhibit of the Burrens Flora, Fauna and History which the visitor can tour. In the café the toasted salmon Sandwiches are a particular favourite of visitors. So a visit to Co. Clare's and Ireland's first interpretive centre is a must.

Aillwee Caves - Birds of Prey Centre - County Clare Ireland
The main purpose of this trip is going to visit and check the Aillwee Caves in County Clare, Ireland, but before we started the journey at the cave, we went first to visit the Birds of Prey Centre - which is found in the same place - and see those different types of birds which are living there - which seemed to be more interesting for the kids than the caves.
The Birds of Prey Centre started its journey back in 2008 and the main purpose behind starting it was to educate people and entertain them with the dynamic flying displays set against the dramatic Burren Landscape. The mission of this centre is to aid the conservation of Birds of Prey through visitor awareness and education and at the same time fund raising for Raptor conservation monitoring efforts within Ireland.
There are actually several different things offered for the visitors at this centre; there is the dynamic flying displays where the visitor could actually interact with the birds, this centre is actually a home to eagles, hawks, falcons, and owls from all over the world, there is also the hawk walks which are considered a totally different experience that one could go through and it lasts for one hour long, in addition to the information boards as well as the education that the visitors will be receiving about the world of raptors, their biology, the conservation and the ancient art of falconry - it was truly a different experience.
After we finished the show related to those different birds and got the chance to walk around the different cages where they live in this place, we then headed to the Aillwee Cave, which was the aim of the whole trip to County Clare from the beginning.
Aillwee Cave is located in the heart of the Burren in County Clare where the most spectacular views of Galway Bay could be also found. Through the journey inside this cave, we were guided by an expert who managed to share with us the story of the place. This tour lasted for 30 minutes where the tour guide walked with us through the beautiful caverns; over the bridged chasms, under the weird formations, and alongside the thunderous waterfall which might sometimes spray the visitors with its water - but it is okay - in addition to that it is always interesting to check the frozen waterfall and at the same time see those bones of the extinct brown bears (ursos arctos) which is one of the things which you might never experience anywhere else.
At the end of this journey, we were brought out once again to where we believe is another modern cave that is filled with gifts and other souvenirs which those visitors could buy in order to keep remembering the place - it is really a good place to move through even if you are not willing to buy anything, it still feels interesting to enjoy what they have to offer.
This was actually a different kind of experience and we consider it one of the different things that you could do in Ireland if you happen to be in County Clare. County Clare is in Western Ireland and there are different other places and attractions that one should visit while being there.
In addition to Aillwee Cave which is found on the Burren, a uniquely rocky wilderness area, there is also the Cliffs of Moher ( the Bunratty Castle, the O'Brien Tower, the Craggaunowen, there is also Clare Museum, the Courthouse Gallery, King John's Castle, Poulnabrone dolmen, as well as Burren and Cliffs of Moher Park; every single one of these attractions might be different than the other with the experience it will provide the person with and that is the reason why it is important to choose those which you will have the time to do and head directly for them - we promise you, it will all be different.
Our advice for this trip would be: if you have kids who are coming along with you to this trip then make sure to visit the Birds of Prey Centre ( because this would be much interesting for them than moving inside the cave and also make sure to come to the top of Burren where you will enjoy the scene from above and get that mesmerizing feeling.
Don't worry about food and drink because in the Aillwee Cave you will find a place to relax and have your cup of tea, you will also find a place to have some food and even enjoy their fudge cake, and for those willing to have a drink, this will also be offered in the place - so it is actually a good trip to a place that provides almost everything you might want.
