Christmas in Washington DC - The National Christmas Tree at the White House
Well Christmas 2019 is behind us by now, but let us go back in time to those days of a few weeks ago and reminisce how lovely it was!
In this episode, it's about 12 days before Christmas and I get to check out the famous White House Christmas tree in the Ellipse behind the south lawn of the White House.
Each year since 1923, the tree has been decorated as a Christmas tree. Every year, early in December, the tree is traditionally lit by the President of the United States. Every president since Franklin D. Roosevelt has made formal remarks during the tree lighting ceremony. Since 1954, the event has marked the start of month-long festivities known as the Pageant of Peace. Smaller trees representing the U.S. states, District of Columbia, and the five territories around the National Christmas Tree are referred to as the Pathway to Peace.
In part 2 of this vlog, it's two days before Christmas and we go for the last time to the International Square food court, a food court in downtown Washington DC that I have been going to for many years now. Unfortunately the powers that be have decided to close it down permanently. Apparently not too many people go to food courts any more these days. Thanks a lot food trucks!
Then finally we drop by the historic Mayflower hotel to check out their holiday displays.

Washington DC Holidays 2018 National Christmas Tree and Capitol Christmas Tree
We were in Washington DC for the Lindsey Stirling concert at The Anthem. We wandered around DC and saw the National Christmas Tree and all of the state trees around it. We also saw the Capitol Christmas Tree. We visited the Canadian Embassy as well! We always have a great time in Washington DC but wish we would have had a bit more time.
Thanks for Watching!!!

Liberal Losers Ready To Sue After Melania’s Big Outdoor Christmas Decoration Gets Leaked
Liberal losers who hate celebrating Christ’s birth are getting ready to sue the White House. In years past, the ACLU and other liberal organizations sued to eliminate the traditional themes of Christmas in every facet of American life. They have enlisted celebrities to use their influence to turn their “Christmas Specials” into “Holiday Specials.” Well, that’s all over now as the first lady just confirmed a leaked report about her surprise outdoor Christmas decoration at the White House.Rumors have been flying about Melania Trump’s first Christmas in the White House. This is the frontline of the culture war as the White House sets the tone for the rest of the country on many things, and for years, the hardcore leftists have done a good job of taking Christ out of Christmas in America.
The first lady chooses a “theme” for Christmas, something Jackie Kennedy started in 1960, and Mrs. Trump’s chosen theme will be announced on November 30th during the big tree lighting ceremony. Many Americans may not be aware that since 1923 the National Park Foundation and National Park Service sponsors the National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony.
The National Christmas Tree is a large evergreen tree located in the northeast quadrant of The Ellipse near the White House in Washington, D.C. Each year since 1923, the tree has been decorated as a Christmas tree. Every early December, the tree is traditionally lit by the President of the United States. [Source: Wikipedia]
Surrounding the area is the “Pathway to Peace,” smaller Christmas trees representing the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and the five U.S. territories, and it used to include a live nativity scene. In 1968, the liberals were successful in getting the nativity scene excluded. Ronald Reagan brought back that tradition in 1984. Again, during the 1990s, the nativity scene was gone after the Supreme Court ruled it “advanced” a certain religion. Today, nativity scenes are allowed as long as other religions can also display some type of decoration, like the Jewish menorah.

Americans have gathered for this ceremony, the simple story we remember during this season speaks to every generation is the story of a quiet birth in a little town on the margins of an indifferent empire. Yet that single event set the direction of history and still changes millions of lives. For over two millennia Christmas has carried the message that God is with us. And because he's with us, we can always live and hope.

I hope that all Americans will remember other people during this Christmas, ask senior citizens, visit with people who are lonely, that they'll work in their food banks, that they make sure that they use their good fortune to help others who are less fortunate. But I hope also that every American will take the opportunity to thank the families of the military men and women who are deployed around the world right now defending our freedom.

More than 2.5MILLION people across the U.S. march against President Trump with millions more showing solidarity across the world.
An estimated one million people took to the streets of Washington DC to protest against new President Donald Trump, with more than 2.5million demonstrating across the country joined by hundreds more marches around the globe.
Washington DC, Chicago, Boston and Philadelphia were among the first cities in America to kick off the Women's Marches on Saturday, one day after Trump's inauguration.
Sister marches were held in more than 600 cities around the world. In Trump's hometown of New York, a crowd estimated at about 400,000 filled the streets. In Los Angeles 750,000 demonstrators were estimated to have turned out.
Pink pussyhats - knitted beanies with cat ears - became the accessory of the march in reference to Trump's quote 'grab her by the pussy'.
A District of Columbia official said the sheer volume of people in Washington DC meant that there could not be a formal march from the protest stage near the Capitol in DC because the planned route was filled with hundreds of thousands of protesters physically unable to move. The crowd moved toward the Ellipse, an area of the National Mall in front of the White House.
The sight in DC was in stark contrast to the crowd that watched Trump take the oath of office - the National Mall was filled to brim on Saturday with women.
John Kerry, who served as Barack Obama's secretary of state until this week, walked his dog alongside marchers on Pennsylvania Avenue.
Trump got a view of the protesters in Washington DC from the window of his limo. His motorcade was on its way back to the White House from a prayer service when he passed several prominent groups of protesters.
As he crossed one intersection, cars started honking loudly.
Initial figures from transportation officials in Washington suggest more people may be on the National Mall for the women's march than came for Trump's inauguration.
As of 11am Saturday, 275,000 people had taken trips on the city's subway system. On Inauguration Day, 193,000 trips had been taken as of that time, and the rail system opened an hour earlier that day, at 4am.
Saturday's ridership figures were more than eight times a normal Saturday and busier than most weekdays.
In addition, some 1,800 buses were registered to park in the city. Greyhound reported adding more buses from New York. And a commuter rail system in Washington added five times its normal capacity to help deal with the crowds.
One person traveling to attend the march revealed Saturday morning that all the rest stops had been packed with buses heading to DC.
'Our driver said he's never seen anything like this before,' they added.
Lines to buy metro tickets in DC stretched past blocks as protesters flooded the stations and trains as they made their way to the march.
