Irving Eco-Centre, La Dune de Bouctouche
Irving Eco-Centre, La Dune de Bouctouche is a 12 kilometer Sand Dune located just north of Bouctouche, New Brunswick, that was developed by J.D. Irving, Limited in 1997 to preserve and restore one of the greatest Sand Dunes of North America.
During the beginning and end of the school year, Irving Eco-Centre, La Dune de Bouctouche offers guided tours to students and local schools. Throughout the summer the park offers interpretive nature tours and a live exhibit for visitors that includes fish, a Piping Plover display, educational activities and a real life Blue Lobster.
Visitors are welcome to explore the dune’s salt marsh and wilderness by walking along the 800 meters of boardwalk and enjoy a day on the beach.
The park also is a conservation site for the Piping Plover and Marram Grass. Marram Grass helps protect and civilize the sand that grows an average three feet and can withstand snow, ice, and rough storms but cannot withstand the impact of human activity.
The Piping Plover is a globally threatened and endangered species that is very territorial. If the Piping Plover leaves their nest for food and human activity occurs during its absence, the bird will sense that and abandon the nest without caring for its eggs. Irving Eco-Centre, La Dune de Bouctouche works with researchers to prevent this from happening by closing areas of the beach during the Piping Plovers breeding season

Scenic drive north of Shediac: Bouctouche, Irving Eco-Centre
Enjoy the drive northbound out of Shediac, New Brunswick, mostly on Route 11, up the coast. At Bouctouche, I turned off the highway and took a coastal route out to the Irving Eco-Centre, for a nice walk on the beach of the Northumberland Strait.
MyDrivelapse.com and Takemytrip.com provide driving videos and stories to help you plan your trip. Check out hundreds of videos on my YouTube channel. Subscribe if you like it! Dozens of new videos are on the way in the coming weeks.
I made this trip in early October, 2016. Video shot with a Brinno TLC-200 Pro time-lapse camera, mounted on my roof with a homemade magnetic case. I travel with two Brinno cameras - one facing forward, the other in reverse. Sometimes the reverse camera captures better video (fewer raindrops and bugs hit the rear-view lens).

Bouctouche Dune | La dune de Bouctouche, Canada
Bouctouche, a Canadian town in Kent County, New Brunswick. The town is located at the mouth of the Bouctouche River on the coast of the Northumberland, Canada. Bouctouche Dune or Sandbar is connected to the mainland at a point roughly three-and-a-half miles north of Pointe à Jérôme and extends southeast for over seven miles, providing protection for the waters of Buctouche Bay. The southern tip of the sandbar lies about a mile off of Saint-Thomas-de-Kent, near where the Point Dixon Range Lights were established in 1881 to assist vessels in finding the entrance to the bay.
La dune de Bouctouche was established by J. D. Irving, Limited to protect and restore the important sand dune that provides habitat for numerous shorebirds and other migratory birds. A two-kilometre-long boardwalk allows visitors to observe the flora and fauna found on the dune without impacting the sensitive ecosystem. A footbridge built on the abutments of the old railroad bridge connects Le Pays de la Sagouine and Rotary Park from the opposite side of the Bouctouche River. Today, the dune can be shared by people who want to enjoy its special beauty. The boardwalk is wheelchair, accessible with ramps to the beach and inner bay, and as such, this earth-cache is wheelchair friendly.
A lighthouse on the southern extremity of Buctouche sand bar was put in operation on October 10, 1902. The lighthouse is a square wooden building, surmounted by a square wooden lantern rising from the middle of the cottage roof. The building and lantern are painted white. The lighthouse is 35 feet high from its base to the ventilator on the lantern, and is located on land 4 feet above high water mark. The light is fixed white dioptric, elevated 38 feet above high water mark, and visible 11 miles from all points of approach by water. The work was done by Mr. G.W. Palmer, of Kars, whose contract price for the building was $1,289.In 1907, 375 feet of close pilework was put in place to protect the lighthouse from the encroaching sea, and the following year roughly 400 more feet of pilework were added and the boathouse was moved back to a safer position.

ROBICHEAU'S NO FRILLS at SHEDIAC, NEW BRUNSWICK | FIRST VISIT FAIL | CORALADDICT
Hey guys!
We decided to go grocery shopping in this well-known place in Shediac called No Frills, but sadly it wasn't what we expected it to be. We went back to Moncton to find Bree some rain boots since Spring is on its way to Moncton! We also took a little peep in the National Bookstore-- Moncton version called Chapters. Watch the video to see how it goes.
