Karen Blixen/Karen Christenze Dinesen/ museum Denmark
Baroness Karen Christenze von Blixen-Finecke (born Dinesen; 17 April 1885 – 7 September 1962) was a Danish author who wrote works in Danish and English. She is best known under her pen names Isak Dinesen, used in English-speaking countries, and Tania Blixen, used in German-speaking countries. She also published works using the aliases Osceola and Pierre Andrézel.
Blixen is best known for Out of Africa, an account of her life while living in Kenya, and for one of her stories, Babette's Feast, both of which have been adapted into Academy Award-winning motion pictures. She is also noted, particularly in Denmark, for her Seven Gothic Tales.
Blixen was considered several times for the Nobel Prize in Literature.
Karen Dinesen was born in the manor house of Rungstedlund, north of Copenhagen. Her father, Wilhelm Dinesen (1845–1895), was a writer and army officer from a family of Jutland landowners closely connected to the monarchy, the established church and conservative politics. Her mother, Ingeborg Westenholz (1856–1939), came from a wealthy Unitarian bourgeois merchant family. Karen Dinesen was the second oldest in a family of three sisters and two brothers. Her younger brother, Thomas Dinesen, grew up to earn the Victoria Cross in the First World War. Dinesen was known to her friends as Tanne

En fantastisk fortælling
The Karen Blixen Museum in Rungsted, Denmark was transformed to an interactive installation.
The installation is a poetic space playing with contrast of intimity and extravagance and visual and auditive text. It is a space clear in the outer form and fluent and unpredictable in the inner. Just like Karen Blixens stories. The installation circles around an over dimensioned book (1,5 x 2 m) where the action of the visitors mix with the staging of Karen Blixen, her stories and the role of the Storyteller. Each page of the book is made with interactive textiles:
Words and sentences are either printed with thermochromic ink or embedded into a layering of fabric and electroluminescent films. With the help of sensors and computer technology, we have the possibility to create realtime interactions between the public and the writen content of the book.

A visit to my grandaunt Karen Blixen´s Farm in Nairobi, Kenya | allthegoodies.com
I once had a grandaunt who had a farm in Africa, at the foot of the Ngong Hills....
And I had a grandfather who spent three years here, helping his sister to build the coffee plant. It has been a dream for me to once visit her farm outside Nairobi in Kenya. A couple of months ago, my dream came through....
Interactive installation at the Karen Blixen museum
In August 2008 the Boganis room in the Karen Blixen museum in Rungsted, Denmark, was transformed to an interactive installation. The installation is a poetic space playing with contrast of intimity and extravagance and visual and auditive text. It is a space clear in the outer form and fluent and unpredictable in the inner. Just like Karen Blixen's stories. The installation circles around an over dimensioned book (1.5 x 2m) where the action of the visitors mix with the staging of Karen Blixen, her stories and the role of the 'storyteller'.
Out of Africa in70mm Open-Air Rungstedlund
Friday the 13th August 2010 was a lucky day for more than 350 guests who watched a film in Rungsted, Denmark marking the 125th anniversary of the birth of Karen Blixen (original birth name: Isak Dinesen). The guests arrived in practical, picnic clothes to see Sidney Pollack's blockbuster Out of Africa (1985), which was coincidentally celebrating its 25th anniversary.
Out of Africa was shown as an Open-Air performance in 70mm on a 10 meter wide canvas on Karen Blixen's own lawn. Organizers behind the event was The Rungstedlund Foundation, which operates the Karen Blixen Museum in Rungsted, some 20 kilometers north of Copenhagen. The audience brought chairs and blankets to keep warm during the 3½ hour long event.

Karen Blixen Museum (Kenya) - a personal view
This wasn't what I was expecting or how I was expecting to feel about the whole thing. I like to SEE everything though. Knowledge is power and all of that...
I had fish soup, I ate bread and I had a Tusker lager. Nothing healthy in that, nothing raw. Not the way I want food to go in Kenya. Must make better choices when eating out...
Love, life.. live the fruits...

A miniature room for Karen Blixen / Isak Dinesen
This little room is an homage to one of my favorite and most influential authors, known as Karen Blixen in Denmark and Isak Dinesen in America. You know her from *Out of Africa,* but my favorites of her books are collections of marvelous fiction. You'll see them here in the little room I built and decorated using elements from her life and museum in Rungstedlund, Denmark. It's not an exact replica, but I think it captures the feel of the place. Blixen loved flowers, and the museum is filled with flowers from her garden. She made these paintings while in Africa. The desk comes as close to her actual desk as I could get with a House of Miniatures kit. I painted the clock white because (a little surprisingly) the museum features a white clock. Love it because clocks are very important in her stories. The photos of her are from the end of her life, at the time when (fun fact!) my grandmother knew her slightly.
