NOTE: Not a lot of people know that real samurais NO longer exist in Japan — the whole lifestyle and system have long disappeared ever since the late 1800s because the emperor favored a more modern western-style army.
Nevertheless, what we can rather find solace in (apart from the existence of museums for appreciating the tradition) is that there are still some people in Japan who try to emulate the swordsmanship of the samurais — such as Joe Okada! Hence, the title Last Samurai is more of a bestowed title upon him due to his skills.
(TRIVIA: Joe trained people who made it on the Guinness World Records!)

BAMBOO NOODLE SLIDE & SAMURAI Food in Kyoto Japan
If you're looking for a fun place to eat, go to Hirobun. It's in a beautiful and peaceful area where the noodles flow in a long bamboo stick with clear and cold running water through it. But you have to be fast and on your guard for your noodles because they slide by pretty quick!
Then tried out some cool Samurai food that was once eaten by actual Samurai's. For Samurai's to stay healthy and fit they ate a lot of vegetables, and I thought it was pretty good, although I don't really eat veggies. And to end my fun food day, I went to grab some Okonomu-Yaki. I have to say Manmaru No Tsuki served up some amazing foods here.

FOUND A DINOSAUR at a Crazy Samurai Town?! | Kyoto, Japan
2 years ago when we first started this Youtube project we visited Toei Eigamura and got to see where they film many of the Japanese dramas and movies. At the time, we decided (I decided) not to upload the footage for various reasons, but we figured the new year would be a perfect time to revisit/re-edit the footage and see how we've improved as Youtubers.
It is a pretty weird place with the occasional surprises (dinosaur?) and they offer a movie-quality cosplay service where you can dress up in a samurai, geisha, or ninja costume and explore this crazy samurai town.
Let us know how we changed and improved over these last two years. Also, if you have any suggestions for how we should improve in 2018, Please drop a comment down below! Here is to many more videos and much more growth!

Kyoto Festival: Jidai Matsuri [4K]
For more information, check out the Jidai Matsuri page on our website:
Considered to be one of the top three festivals in all of Kyoto despite its status as a relatively new tradition, Heian Shrine's Jidai Matsuri (Festival of the Ages) is held on October 22nd from noon each year.
The festival is primarily composed of a two kilometer, five hour long procession of countless volunteers dressed in historical garb representing Japanese cultural history from the Meiji era all the way back to the Enryaku era in the 780’s. Painstakingly recreated and researched, going so far as to even make and dye the fabric using the same techniques as they used a thousand years ago, the procession is akin to watching a living history museum march by. Not only do famous historical figures and princesses make appearance, but warriors, priests, politicians, merchants, and commoners are all represented. With that many characters, the Jidai Matsuri gives a very comprehensive look in to the clothing and appearance of Japanese past.

Kyoto Restaurant Tour Experience | Gion at Night ★ ONLY in JAPAN
Kyoto, Japan. Think food. Lots of food! That's dining out in the city and Gion is the place to be at night. Tempura, Tofu, Ramen, Wagyu Steaks, Sushi, Sashimi, Sukiyaki, Grilled Fish ... it's endless! All with some of the best Japanese sake in the land! I haven't even gotten to the desserts!
Now close your eyes ー imagine beautiful Japanese streets lined with hundreds of wooden tea houses, red paper lanterns, bamboo -- and Geisha floating by. That's where we are going!
For first time visitors to Japan, knowing Japanese is often important to get the full dining experience. Although I can speak Japanese, I was alone so I decided to book a tour with a local guide.

NHK Core Kyoto - Tsubo-niwa: Life Enhanced by Quintessential Spaces
Traditional Kyoto machiya townhouses have narrow entrances, and are long and deep. At the back lie small tsubo-niwa gardens, enclosed on all sides. Originally serving to light and ventilate the house, they enabled residents to comfortably endure the intense, summer heat. Over time, people applied their simple, austere aesthetic sensibilities to create beauty in these confined spaces. Discover the wisdom behind these gardens through the local lifestyle and the expertise of the landscape artists.

Toei Kyoto Studio Park (東映太秦映画村 Tōei Uzumasa Eigamura) is a theme park and film set modeled after the Edo period located in Kyoto, Japan that opened its doors in 1975. It is situated in Toei Company's Kyoto Studio where movies have been produced.
Projects filmed at the park include Sebastiano Serafini's historical Japan-themed music video for the single Inori.
TOEI Kyoto Studio Park is the only theme park in Japan where you can observe the filming of period dramas (jidaigeki films). Here you can walk freely around the TOEI Kyoto Studio film set.
This set depicts a street from the Edo period, and is used to shoot more than 200 films per year. Enjoy the atmosphere of ancient Japan by taking in a ninja show maybe even dressing up as a geisha or samurai.
You will find all kinds of entertainment for both the young and old, in this world of imagination and creation. Have a great time!
The Toei Uzumasa Eigamura (東映太秦映画村, Tōei Uzumasa Eigamura; also known as Kyoto Studio Park or Movie Land) is a film set and theme park in one. Essentially a small town from the Edo Period, the park features a collection of various traditional buildings which are occasionally used as a backdrop for filming historical movies and television dramas.
The park includes entire streets depicting town scenes, including a replica of the old Nihonbashi Bridge, a traditional court house, a Meiji Period police box and part of the former Yoshiwara red light district. Park attendants dressed in historic costumes add to the atmosphere of the town. Actual filming takes place occasionally in various parts of the park, and visitors are welcome to observe the action.

Sanzenin Temple, Ohara Kyoto in 4K - 三千院•京都 - Japan As It Truly Is
Sanzenin Temple is one of hidden gems of Kyoto and shows you can still see a magnificent place without the huge tourist mobs.
Sanzenin (or Sanzen-in, 三千院) is one of the few remaining places that is still one of Kyoto's very best sights, yet has few crowds of tourists stampeding through. In part because it is not that well publicized, but also because it is in Ohara, which is about an hours by bus from Kyoto Station. Aside from its historic religious treasures, it has a beautiful garden that is simply astonishing.
Going in the morning by bus is HIGHLY recommended instead of afternoons since many elderly are getting off at every single stop along the way, and it will greatly increase your travel time.
Open 8:30-5:30 daily Mar-Dec 7
9:00-5:00 daily Dec 8-Feb
Admissions end 30 minutes before closing.
Entrance fee: ¥700

BECOMING A NINJA! ...in Kyoto, japan
I AM A NINJA! Ever since i was a young kid i dreamed of becoming a ninja, i watched ninja movies from Japan and i dressed like one almost every Halloween. I knew I could never be a real ninja ... maybe a few 100 years later but at Ninja dojo and store in Kyoto i got to live out my dream! you may think this is just a cheap way to milk in money from tourist... i thought so at first too but it was actually really fun. The ninja dojo and store Sensei was so funny yet so informative. In the Ninja dojo we got to not only act like Ninjas, use ninja gear, but we also got to learn the ways of the ninja. If you go to kyoto you must go the this ninja dojo... I had such a great time and i believe you will too.

FIRE RAMEN & GYOZA in Kyoto Japan
I ate some amazing pork and red pepper gyoza in Kyoto. The wrappers were thin, and fried to perfection, leaving a nice crispy texture. I definitely recommend getting those two dishes.
The next night I went to a fire ramen place which was pretty fun and super HOT!! It's not the spicy hot feeling like the hot oil that leaves a burning sensation on your tongue, but they use real fire to cook the ramen. So the heat on that ramen was flaming hot! Afterward, I went to grab some matcha dessert at one of the best places that Kyoto has to offer.

Ninja Dinner Theater in Kyoto
In Kyoto they have a Ninja restaurant with a dinner show where you can munch on Ninja Shuriken (Throwing Star) crackers as Ninja kill each other for your amusement. It's good cheezy fun.
I ran into LatinoSan at Kitano Tenmangu Shrine and we decided to check it out.
LatinoSan:
