Leaning Tower in Torun - Poland - Krzywa Wieża w Toruniu - 2012
Średniowieczna baszta miejska, która swą nazwę zawdzięcza znacznemu odchyleniu od pionu (1,46 m).
Odchylenie zmierzone na przełomie 2006 i 2007 roku wynosiło 5°13'15''. Odchylenie szczytu wieży od pionu wyniosło wówczas 146,171 cm.
Wybudowana została w 2. poł. XIII wieku jako prosta, 15-metrowa baszta obronna wtopiona w system murów obronnych i ustawiona na fundamentach czterościennych, lecz z niedociągniętą do końca ścianą od strony miasta. Przez otwory w jej bocznych ścianach przebiegał ganek strażniczy, łączący ją z murami obronnymi, zaś brak ściany wewnętrznej ułatwiał wciąganie amunicji. Już w średniowieczu z piaszczysto-gliniastego podłoża, na którym baszta została ustawiona, pod wpływem jej ciężaru osunęły się piaski, powodując równocześnie pochylanie się wieży do momentu, aż oparła się ona na gruncie bardziej trwałym.

Toruń,Poland was founded by the Teutonic Order, in the 13th century. The unique spatial layout of Toruń has remained unchanged for 700 years.
During the Middle Ages it developed a commercial role as part of the Hanseatic League. In the Old and New Town, imposing buildings from the 14th and 15th centuries (among them the house of Copernicus) are striking evidence of Toruń's rich past.
A Gothic town hall built in the late 14th century is the centrepiece of Torun’s old town. It is one of the biggest brick buildings of its kind in Europe. For centuries, it was the administrative and commercial hub of the city; it was near here that fairs were held, tribute was paid to the rulers, knights fought in tournaments, and the condemned were publically executed. Today, the building houses a district museum, where visitors can see local handicraft and Polish paintings from the 19th and 20th centuries.
One of the medieval tenements from the second half of the 15th century houses the Home of Nicolaus Copernicus, the astronomer who proved that the Earth does not sit at the centre of universe, but rather orbits the sun along with other planets.
Torun’s medieval city walls are the oldest in Poland. Their first section dates back to 1246-62. Almost from its very beginnings, the city was surrounded by two rings of defence walls separated by a wet moat. A single wall was only built along the Vistula riverside. A three-kilometre long section of Torun’s city walls had 54 towers, 12 gates and two barbicans proper. Nine towers and three gates have survived to this day.
An old Teutonic castle was part of the city’s defences alongside high walls, towers, and gates. Today, it is a favourite site for walks, theatre performances, and music concerts.
An attractive walking route is also Podmurna Street, Torun’s longest medieval street. This cobbled road is full of charming nooks and historic monuments. The street begins near the moat and the Burgher House, and weaves its way next to an historic granary, the Feline Head tower, and the Mint Gate.
Its 15-metre-high Leaning Tower constructed at the turn of the 14th century is inclined like the famous Tower of Pisa.

Torun Old Town (a UNESCO World Heritage Site). This delightful historical city is abundant in original Gothic structures that survived numerous wars and invasions, including a magnificent town hall, medieval fortification walls and the Polish leaning tower of Pisa.

Toruń is a historical city in north-central Poland. The city is the birthplace of the famous astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus. The old town (Stare Miasto) of Toruń is also an UNESCO heritage sight which we visit on this walk.
We start our walk near the Old Town Hall at the Nicolaus Copernicus Monument. From there we walk around the main square with the baroque Holy Spirit Church. Some festival installations for the Bella Skyways event are in the city which we visited on another walk at night (
We visit some other church and head outside of the old city walls into parks, see the medieval leaning tower and the Vistula River. We get back to the centre through the medival Gate Of The Holy Spirit and enjoy walking further around before we end this tour.

The Leaning Tower of Zaragoza, sometimes called by its Spanish name Torre Nueva, was a Mudéjar leaning tower located in current Plaza de San Felipe, in Zaragoza .Over years the tower became an icon for the city.It also was the highest Mudéjar's style tower ever built .It had a diameter of 11.5 meters and a groundplan in the shape of a 16-pointed star.

Pisa is proud of its leaning tower, but the German spa town of Bad Frankenhausen also boasts a rather wonky church. It's been an attraction for locals and tourists since 1650 when it first started leaning to one side. Now, the authorities want to raze it to the ground, but its citizens are not giving up without a fight.
