Magura Cave, Bulgaria
Some video clips from the Magura cave. Its pretty big one with 2.5km (1.6 mi) total length. It is in the form of a passage and when somebody enters from one end exits through the other. It is interesting because contains human remains from about 40 000 years ago and was home for some of the last Neanderthals. Also it has inside prehistoric wall paintings made of guano and carbon dated from 11 000 to 8 000 years ago. And particularly interesting for me are some of the depictions of Ostrich and Giraffe-like animals made about 11 000 years ago. I made some research and couldn't find anything like that living at the time in the area or even Europe in general. Strangely enough this issue was not researched and very few people even paid attention. I guess these that know that giant birds haven't lived among the early Europeans are different people from these that analyse ancient paintings or with other words Palaeontologists don't mix with Archaeologists. Also there are depictions of mushrooms, so the use of the magic ones is not out of question. The Sun-like paintings have corresponding number of rays and lines and suggest early attempts for creating calendars.
All that was amazing, but there were a vandalised paintings and rocks from the time when the cave was freely open for anybody. Nowadays one can enter alone after paying small fee, but generally the halls with the paintings are visited with guides.
TLDR Big cave with prehistoric wall paintings. If you visit Bulgaria one of the top 10 things to see.
???????? Magura Cave Adventure - Visiting Bulgaria
A great trip to Magura cave near Vidin in Bulgaria.
Magura cave is 15 million years old and the paintings on the walls are from 12,000 years ago.
When you visit Magura cave, make sure to wear hiking shoes as the floor of the cave is wet and make sure to bring warm clothes because the temperature, even in the summer, can drop below 10 degrees C.
To enter the Magura cave you have to be in a guided group with the first tour starting at 10 am. The tour lasts about 1 hour and 15 minutes.
There is a restaurant, pool and bungalows just outside the cave for those who wish to spend more than a day there. Also, there is a free wi fi.
Make sure to bring a very good camera as the inside the Magura cave is quite dark.
I hope you enjoy!

Magura cave Bulgaria
Снимки и видео от най-посещаваната пещера в България. На фона на лека релаксираща музика Вие ще добиете само бегла представа за красотите на тази пещера. Горещо препоръчвам на всички да я посетят.
Magura Cave & Lake Rabisha
Magura Cave, located in northwestern Bulgaria, at a distance of approx. 25 km from Belogradchik, was formed in the limestone hill Rabisha, 461 meters above the sea level. It is made up of a main gallery, plus three additional ones, of huge size - approx. 2500 m long, making it one of the largest caves in Bulgaria. In 1960 Magura Cave has been declared a tourist attraction, being naturally decorated with stalactites, stalagmites and rare formations. And not only that. In the cave you can find small accumulations of water due to drops of constantly falling water, 4 bat species, but especially prehistoric murals, deemed to be the most significant works of art in the European Postpaleolitic. The oldest of the over 750 drawings, made using fossilized guano in the cave, date back to 8000 BC. The drawings are hunting scenes, mythological scenes, different rituals, but also sexual scenes.
Let's also return to Rabisha, the largest inland lake in Bulgaria, among the seven in the country. It is of tectonic origin, although it has long been believed to have a karst origin. A local legend says that this lake would have no bottom and that in its waters the salmons could reach 300 kilograms.
Excursion and sightseeing of Magura Cave
The Magura Cave (Bulgarian пещера Магура) is located in north-western Bulgaria close to the village of Rabisha, 25 km (16 mi) from the town of Belogradchik in Vidin Province.
The prehistoric wall paintings of Magura have great resemblance with those of the Grotta dei Cervi in Italy, which are of exceptional expression and artistic depth and are considered the most significant works of art of the European Post-Paleolithic era.
Guided visits are conducted by the staff of Belogradchik municipality, to which the management of the cave was transferred in 2012 by the Bulgarian Council of Ministers.
In 1984 the site was induced into UNESCO's tentative list of World Heritage
