Brisbane Farewells the Regent Cinema
The Regent, Brisbane's well-loved cinema/theatre that was originally built back in the 1920's, is closing down after 80 years in operation.
Very sad to see this beautiful cinema go especially as it's being replaced by a highrise.
News report aired on Channel 7 (Brisbane) Nightly News on Monday, 14 June 2010.

What a nice little town in northern New South Wales! Man, was I tempted to hop off the bike and chew on some of that tasty sugar cane. The song is Sunshinin by Australia's own The Vines.
TrashFest 2019 (Australian tour trailer)
TRASHFEST 2019: Compiled and edited by Andrew Leavold, Queensland-based director of the cult documentary The Search For Weng Weng, from his thirty-plus years of excavating film oddities. Here Leavold digs deep into the Trash Video vaults (his legendary Brisbane cult movie store from 1995 to 2010) to create the ultimate two hour party mash-up for cine-generates and severely damaged pulp casualties: clips from Bollywood and Nollywood - that’s Nigerian DIY “cinema” - as well as vintage ads and trailers, brain-numbing Christian shorts, spookshow weirdies, a Filipino midget disco number, Turksploitation (ever seen the Turkish Star Wars?), the North Korean Godzilla, Indonesian flying-heads-with-guts-attached, wrestling Mexican Mummies – a glorious Trash-fried enchilada with heapings of extra cheese!
Andrew Leavold will also be present to introduce the program, and launch the Kickstarter campaign for his latest venture, FILM SAFARI – a guided tour of film locations in exotic locales, starting this October in Spain and Mexico!

Krsnatown - Murwillumbah 2002
In 2002, Sri Krishna's birthday celebration fell on the same day as the annual Murwillumbah Banana Festival Parade. Two branches of Murwillumbah Hare Krishna's, the New Govardhana Community, and the Giriraj Gaudiya Matha, came together to sing Krishna's names, and dance through the main street of Murwillumbah, pulling a giant golden statue of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. This unique incarnation of Krishna, Sri Chaitanya, appeared in India 524 years ago to begin the Sankitan Movement (public singing of the Hare Krishna Mantra).
The second half of the video follows the celebrations into the Giriraj Gaudiya Math's own temple, where the disciples of Srila Prabhupada's intimate friend and disciple, Srila Narayana Maharaja, continued the festivities late into the night.

The Marvellous Corricks - trailer
Trailer for the documentaries THE MARVELLOUS CORRICKS and RESTORING THE MAGIC, which reveal the story of the Corrick family, the rediscovery of 130 films stored for decades in a garage in Tasmania, and their restoration by the National Film and Sound Archive. Produced by the NFSA, and directed by Jacqui North.
The 'Marvellous Corricks', a family of ten from Christchurch, NZ, first toured to Northern NSW in 1903. The family provided musical accompaniment for their dazzling collection of silent films. After five seasons at Lismore’s Federal Hall and the Elite Skating Rink, Alstonville’s Agricultural Hall, Murwillumbah, Casino’s School of Arts and non-stop touring for fourteen years, the Marvellous Corricks had become international stars.
