EVERY PLACE FEATURED AND INFORMATION MENTIONED IN THE VIDEO (in alphabetical order).
FULL CHINA SERIES PLAYLIST:
BEST VPN FOR CHINA: To access any western social media platforms in China, you're going to need a VPN. Ivacy offers a great VPN for a very affordable price (ad):
APPS TO DOWNLOAD
I should really have mentioned this in the video. Before your trip, make sure you download WeChat (it's free) for scanning things in shops and restaurants for translation. Didi is also a good one, it's the Chinese Uber!
BEIJING
The capital of China is a big, busy city but it's little hutongs are a lot of fun to explore. The Summer Palace and the Forbidden City are both really worth seeing as well.
CHAKA SALT LAKE -
A lesser visited gem, located about 4 hours away from the city of Xining in Qinghai province. Famous for it's mirror-like reflections of the sky.
CULTURE SHOCK
I received a lot of comments saying that people had some reservations and fears about visiting China. To be honest, I felt the same way before I went.
DALI -
An ancient city in Yunnan province that has a little bit of everything that I love! There's nature on the shores of Erhai Lake and up in the heights of Canshan Mountain. The stunning Three Pagodas temple and the bustling culture of the ancient city.
GREAT WALL OF CHINA -
Requires no introduction. But I really recommend exploring the wilder and more remote areas of the wall, rather than the touristy sections. In this film I looked at 3 different areas and compared the strengths and weaknesses of each.
HONG KONG -
A giant, sprawling city. Which also has some amazing natural spots like Lantau Island and Kowloon Park, That's what I focussed on in my travel film.
KUNMING -
Kunming has a reputation for being a transport hub, but it's actually a really fun city to spend a few days. The Dragon Gate and Green Lake Park are particularly great and are the main focus of my travel guide linked above.
LIJIANG OLD TOWN -
A beautiful ancient town with stunning maze like streets. It rained most of the time we were there, so I went searching for the little hidden gems of the streets.
RAINBOW MOUNTAINS -
This was the best day that I had in China. Away from the Danxia Landform Geopark is a peaceful national park that is so worth exploring. It feels more like Australia or the US than China.
SHANGHAI -
The last stop that we had in China. You can get some amazing views from the World Financial Centre Viewpoint.
TRAIN TRAVEL IN CHINA
The main way we got around China. We booked everything through China Highlights, which made thinks very easy (not sponsored, just good):
VPN (virtual private network)
You need a VPN to access almost every western social media accounts in China. For an affordable, but good VPN use Ivacy (ad):
XIAN -
I spent 24 hours exploring Xian and it definitely wasn't enough time. The Terracotta Warriors are amazing, but my film focusses on the other gems of the city.
XINGPING -
Home to the best view in China: Laozhai Mountain.
YANGSHUO -
Beautiful karst mountains, rivers and hiking. My video guide features everything we did there and it's a pretty extensive list! Including instructions on how to get to the best viewpoint in the area.

Erhai Lake 洱海
The concept at water from Erhai Lake in an efforted to represent on evolved cultural identity influenced by globalization in Yunnan.
ErHai lake located in Dali Town, Yunnan, south of China. It is a natural creation lake near the Mountain Cang. Dali city is 4000 meters above sea level, people called Dali city into two parts, highland and lowland, there is a beautiful poetic description of Dali city, named “the Wind, the Flower, the Snow and the Moon” means, the wind of highland, the flower of lowland, the snow of Mountain Cang and the Moon of the Erhai Lake. It also represents people can experience four seasons just in one day in Dali city.
water as a key element to human, it also represented our cultural identity, water is the reflection of human, a wisdom, and philosophy. In order to protect our culture we need to protect the nature, also a key highlight is pollution.

Pei Zhu, Kong - 空 Inspiration from Nature and Tradition
The design process in recent projects by Pei Zhu, of Studio Pei-Zhu (Beijing) has been inspired by the vocabulary of nature and natural forms but has resulted in an architecture that is divergent from nature and sometimes unnatural. Uninterested in a formal equivalence to natural vocabularies, Studio Pei-Zhu instead seeks a dynamic equivalence when working nature into an architectural concept. Different environments create different humanistic interpretations of landscape and space; Studio Pei-Zhu uses nature and environment to peel back the subjective influences of society—its politics, cultures, and religion—in an attempt to revert to basic human experiences. This allows Zhu to explore the fundamentals of how nature, as distinct from human intervention, influences architecture.
