Timaru Botanic Gardens | New Zealand Tourism Sight Seeing
Hey, everybody.
I wanted to make a video about the Timaru Botanic Gardens since I did one about the Oamaru Gardens...so here it is! I had a pretty good time at the Timaru Botanic Gardens. There were quite a few flowing trees and bushes that were very beautiful and made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
The Botanic Gardens are definitely something that are worth visiting if you are touring New Zealand during Spring time. If you are a tourist and have the time I would recommend it over Caroline Bay. I think that my main issue with the Timaru Gardens is that there is to much lawn and not enough interesting flowers and themed areas in comparison with the Oamaru gardens.
I do like the playground area and I think that the gardens have a lot of space for expansion and I hope in the future they will fill out some of the space with water features etc. I really enjoyed the rock garden! I think that was unexpected and very nice. I also liked the Australian garden part. I love it when they have sections for plants from around the world.
I guess my next garden video will be from Sweden, keep an eye out for that one if you enjoyed my previous garden videos.

Timaru Gardens Rotunda Thirteen
Timaru Botanic Gardens - Rotunda Thirteen July 10th
We arrive at the Botanic Gardens and see a group of men in orange jackets and hear a very loud mulching machine churning up branches next to the Rotunda. The high-viz crew look up and then continue their work. Mark comments that they are contractors and probably won’t want to stop for us, so we decide to do it anyway. This Botanic Gardens border the hospital grounds. My friend and host in Timaru has also turned 50 this year. Instead of playing band rotundas, she decided to go back to school and become a nurse. Last night we joked that Mark was a nurse and became a priest; Alison was a Preest (her maiden name) and became a nurse! I decide to play the song ‘Goodnight Nurse.’ I have Molly’s toy keyboard but it can’t be heard over the wood chipper. We play the nurse song as best we can. It’s a bit like nursing really, the conditions are rarely favorable but the nurses just have to get on with it.
Later that night we contemplate coming back down here in the dark and re-filming under spotlight. But we decide that it will set an unsustainable precedent for the remainder of the quest. So please accept my apology for the compromised sound quality of this recording.
Three Minutes Thru Timaru , New Zealand (timelapse)
This video is a time lapse speed-through of my hometown, Timaru (Population 27500 at last count), South Island, New Zealand, all 12kms from the very north of it (coming from Christchurch), to the extreme south (going to Dunedin) with the camera placed precariously on my 1980 Ford Escort Mk2's dashboard.
Timaru might be a small place, but it can certainly get lively if you are not careful...
You will see many landmarks within this vid - notably the local Harvey Norman, the BP station, SEVERAL Caltex stations (No Mobil though!), Pak N Save, McDonalds, KFC, Briscoes, the 'bypass', the local Elim church, Burger King, Shell and Caltex petrol stations, Church St overbridge, Craigie Ave, Century Pool, the Botanic Gardens, and an old hotel at Redruth...
Incedentially, you may notice that the average age of the vehicles throughout this video is around 15 years. That is due the fact that we do not us salt on our roads, therefore we keep them on the road for longer than most other countries.
The soundtrack is Rogue Traders We're Coming Home and yes - the video has been sped up :)
Oh yes, to those on Bebo and Facebook that have embedded this into their homepages - Thankyou :)

New Zealand's Kaiteriteri in 4K - DJI Inspire 1
The pristine beaches and sparkling blue waters of Kaiteriteri are just an hour's drive north-west of Nelson. The sheltered waters of the bays are ideal for a range of leisure activities such as paddle-boarding, kayaking, fishing, sailing, cruising and many more. Soar over this picturesque part of New Zealand in our latest project. The morning sunrise here is stunning!
Shot on board the DJI Inspire 1 in 4K@30fps with a range of ND filters. Graded and edited in Vegas Pro 14 in cinema standard 2.35:1.
