Budweiser Budvar Beer Bottling Plant České Budějovice
The bottling plant for Budweiser Beer at České Budějovice. This was filmed on the public tour of the brewery - The lines can fill 80,000 bottles per hour, and have been largely rebuilt since 2005. The main filling line is by KHS with other equipment from SSI Schäfer and Mead WV - soem information is at with the canning line (21,000/hr) added last year (previously, if you bought Budweiser cans in Czech Republic, the bulk beer was shipped to Holland and brought back in cans!).
South Bohemian Beer Trail in Czech Republic - A Timelapse video
In search of the best Czech Beer, we did a road trip through Czech Repulic in search of the best Czech Republic Beer we could find.
In order of our video and our itinerary, we started off trying Czech Beer in Zvikov, enjoying the beautiful castle and a boat ride over to Orlick Castle just nearby. Afterwards, we stopped by Zvikov Brewery for a delicious meal and of course some pivo (Czech word for beer.) Zvikov had a wonderful selection of local Czech Beer and was some of the better Craft Beers we've tried. Ever
Afterwards, we explored Blatna, seeing peacocks and deer, before we headed to Cesky Budejovice to stay the night and recharge for some more pivo.
Day two on our Czech Beer and brewery tour had us going to Blatna, where we drank Czech Beer straight from the tank at Liquib. Seriously some of the best beer we've ever had.
Day three of SOBO Beer trail we went to see the cute village of Holasovice, where enjoyed learning about the history, seeing the beautiful village and of course, more local Czech Beer.
Afterwards it was back to Cesky Budejosovice for a spectacular sunset, and of course, more beer.
Day four we got to do one of the ultimate things for fans of Czech Beer. Explore the Budweis brewery. It was our second time doing so but we were still in awe. You get to drink the original Budweis beer straight from the keg. Best experience ever.
After lunch at Budweis, we headed to Jezinek pivovar and sampled a few of their craft beers

Performance in the Main Square of České Budějovice, Czechia
Video by Glenn Campbell, filmed 4 April 2018. Spontaneously recorded about five minutes after I arrived for the first time in the main square of České Budějovice, Czech Republic. Since I don't speak Czech, I don't know who the group is or what song they are singing, but given all the crosses I assume it is religious. Recorded three days after Easter. The plaza is called Přemysl Otakar II Square (náměstí Přemysla Otakara II). In the background in the middle of the video is Samson's Fountain (Samsonova kašna).
If you know who this group is, please let me know.,
Shot with a GoPro Hero5 with audio recorded separately. The video took 4 minutes to shoot but several hours to edit (to get the framing and colors right).

CZECH KOLACHE RECIPE: baking perfect Czech koláče the old fashioned way
Koláčes are as hot as it gets right now. From Texas to London’s East End, this sweet pastry is the cake choice of of the uber-cool. But in the Czech Republic, they've also long been the perfect partner to a cold beer, just one of the reasons we love them. But for the best koláče recipe, you need to go back to the source. Here in the koláče heartland near our brewery we learn the traditional, authentic way to make these incredible pastries. Read the full story at:
Or let us set the scene a little...
You might assume that koláče were only dreamt up a year or two ago in a trendy bakery somewhere in New York City – like that unholy food-fashion fusion the ‘cronut’. But in reality, these delicious, traditional Czech specialities have been a home-cooked kitchen table staple for many hundreds of years, migrating to the New World in the mid nineteenth-century with eastern European settlers in a move that would begin what has been a slow rise to worldwide fame. Yet despite becoming the latest designer pastry for many top bakeries, few would argue that uncovering the best koláče recipes and learning to cook them the traditional way still requires a trip back to the old country, back to where it all began.
Borovany, ten minutes drive from České Budějovice, is a great place to start – a small South Bohemian town famed for the blueberries that grow wild and plentiful here throughout the summer. I arrive to find it looking pretty under a midday July sun. Brightly painted buildings cluster around two central, dominating features: a handsome Augustinian monastery and impressive church. Wandering through a sun-drenched courtyard into the quiet, lawned gardens at the back of them, I’m greeted Edenka Brecková and Eva Tyrnerová, two masters at creating authentic koláče from scratch who are going to show me how its done.
Like most Czech koláče makers, neither of these warm, friendly, apron-wearing ladies is a ‘professional’ baker; rather they have long histories of cooking this delicacy for family and friends, both – they tell me – being by far the hardest audiences to please.
“I’ve been baking koláče for as long as I can remember,” says Eva as they spread a tablecloth over a wooden table under a willow tree and set up ceramic bowls and ingredients. “It’s just what we do here. You start at a very early age. I learned to make koláče from my mother and my grandmother, both of whom were excellent bakers.”
More recently, Eva and Edenka have branched from supplying just their nearest and dearest; they are committed to turning long lineages of expertise into something that helps the wider community. They are members of a Borovany baking circle, fittingly titled ‘The Traditions Club’. This uses the church hall behind where we’re standing as a base to create these outrageously good Czech delicacies, entering them into national koláče competitions and selling them to raise money for local charities.
And the secret to creating prize-worthy pastries? “Well,” says Edenka, “It always starts with the quality of the dough. Good leavened dough is essential. You have to get it right....

Budvar a Kofola: přeměna kategorie nealko a piva v prodejně Terno České Budějovice
(english version:
Budvar a Kofola se spojily v projektu předělání kategorie piv a nealko nápojů v českobudějovickém Ternu. Cílem bylo zlepšit nákupní prostředí a orientaci zákazníka. Projektu předcházel roční marketingový výzkum s cílem zjistit podrobnosti o chování spotřebitelů v kategorii a jejich preference ohledně vizuální podoby prostředí.

České dráhy (ČD) or Czech Railways is the main railway operator in the Czech Republic. In 2010 its consolidated revenues reached CZK 41.0 billion (€1.6bn, $2.1bn). Revenues from passenger transport amounted to CZK 18.7 billion (65% transfer payments from the government, 25% intra-state transport, 10% international transport), revenues from freight transport operated by subsidiary ČD Cargo amounted to CZK 11.8 billion, revenues from traffic control invoiced to state-owned railway infrastructure operator SŽDC amounted to CZK 5.2 billion. With thirty-eight thousand employees[1] ČD Group is the largest Czech company by the number of employees.
The company was established in 1993, after the dissolution of Czechoslovakia as a successor of the Czechoslovak State Railways. It is a member of the International Railway Union (UIC Country Code for Czech Republic is 54), Community of European Railways and the Organization for Railways Cooperation (Asia and Europe).
Until 1 July 2008, České dráhy was the biggest employer in the Czech Republic. After experiencing regular losses and requiring government subsidies, the railway reported its first ever profit in 2007 although it receives government subsidies. Attempts to make it more efficient are currently ongoing and a recent plan to move passenger transport to an independent subsidiary was approved by the Czech government in January 2008.
ČD operates trains; fixed infrastructure (such as tracks) is managed by SŽDC. In December 2010, the Czech government proposed bringing SŽDC and ČD together in a single holding company. The government has also changed the subsidies available to ČD and SŽDC.
ČD Cargo, the cargo subsidiary, mainly transports raw materials, intermediate goods and containers. As of 2009, it is ranked in the top five largest railway cargo operators in Europe.

The Beauty of Budvar
Here are some of the highlights of my visit to the Budweiser Budvar Brewery in Ceske Budejovice in the Czech Republic last week (3-5 Oct 2012). Thanks to Dennis Cox and Ian Moss from Budvar UK for arranging the awesome visit.
Cheers to the lovely Petr Samec (Head of PR), Adam Broz (Head Brewer), Josef Tolar (former Head Brewer) and Jiri Bocek (CEO) for their extraordinary hospitality.
Big up to the wonderful guys who were on the trip too: Mike Berry (Publican's Morning Advertiser), Mark Ludman (Bar Magazine) and Brian Glover.
Budvar Original (a Czech Premium Lager) is a beer that's been brewed in the same town since the 13th Century. Today it's brewed to pretty much the same recipe. It's a fabulous, very drinkable, tasty golden beer, it's 5% ABV in bottle, and is deliciously refreshing and very light on bitterness.
If you haven't tasted it yet, then GO TRY IT RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!! Available in the international beer aisle at most UK supermarkets. Plus it's available on keg in pubs, so is Budvar Yeast in some places. Also look out for the Dark Lager and the madly delicious Premium Select Bud - at 7.5% it'll warm your cockles :-)
