Tipu Sultan, also known as the Tiger of Mysore and Tipu Sahib, was a ruler of the Kingdom of Mysore, scholar and poet, recognized as one of the greatest South Asian rulers of all time. He was the eldest son of Sultan Hyder Ali of Mysore.
Tipu Sultan, the Great Ruler of Mysore:
After Hyder Ali died due to Carbuncle in the year 1782, Tipu became the new ruler of Mysore. This new ruler who had already fought two war – First Anglo Mysore and Second Anglo Mysore War under the leadership of his father knew that British forces were a great threat to the independent Kingdom of Mysore. He therefore focused more on military advances, especially Mysorean rockets which were successfully used by his father in the Second Anglo Mysore War against the British.
Palaces of Tipu Sultan Across Bangalore:
Bangalore Fort although built by Kempe Gowda of Vijaynagar Empire in the 16th century, was renovated and made into a stone fort by Haider Ali in 1761. At one point of time when British bombed the fort, Tipu Sultan repaired it completely. However, the fort was captured by the British after the third Anglo Mysore War. Currently, Delhi Gate and remnants of bastions are the only two parts remaining of this once so powerful fort.
Tipu Sultan's Tomb:
The mausoleum housing Tipu's tomb is another example of Islamic architecture. Tipu's flag is in the foreground.
It is about few km from Srirangapatna, Mandya district, India and the tourists can visit this place by own vehicle or by other private vehicles from Srirangapatna. The Gumbaz is the burial chamber of Tipu Sultan, his father Haider Ali, his mother Fathima Begum, his relatives and his soldiers.

TRANSLOCATION OF TIPU SULTAN’S ARMOURY BUILDING
Subscribe
Follow me on twitter
The #Armoury building is a typical single storey load bearing brick masonry structure with Arch roofing system filled above with earth to form #pyramid shape elevation. This building was built during #Tipu sultan’s Era (1782-1799) to store #ammunition. This monument is a protected monument under Commissioner, Department #Archaeology and #Museums, Govt. of #Karnataka, #Mysore.
Why shifting is inevitable?
The existing track of Bangalore – Mysore is on a 6.5 deg curve at Srirangapatna with two Cauvery bridges, Cauvery North and Cauvery South on either side located at a deflection angle of 89.5deg. The proposed alignment must be taken in between the existing bridge and the old MG arch bridge (heritage) due to the following reasons.
A. Taking the alignment outside the curve of existing track is not feasible due to:-
a. Presence of Sri. Ranganatha swamy temple, an ASI protected monument and falls in the “Prohibited Area” (within 100m from the monument) as per the “Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 1958”.
B. Taking the alignment inside of the old abandoned MG bridge is not feasible due to:-
1. Presence of ruins of Tippu sultan’s fort which is again an ASI protected monument and falls in the “Prohibited Area” (within 100m from the monument) as per the “Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 1958” and also the alignment will fall in the Archaeology land.
2. Result in sharper curvature and reduced speed potential.
3. Reduction in platform length and curve gets extended on to the important bridges of cauvery river.
C. The current length in between the bridge abutments is 500m on a 6.5 deg curve.
The present location of monument is right in the way of proposed alignment of Double track between Bangalore – Mysore. Hence request was made to Govt. of Karnataka to arrange to shift the monument within the available Railway land. In turn Govt. of Karnataka has agreed the proposal of shifting of monument through cabinet approval and conveyed their decision that the “shifting of the monument has to be carried out by Railways with their own cost”.

Daria Daulat : Tipu Sultan's summer palace at Srirangapatna, Karnataka
Daria Daulat Bagh is a palace situated in the city of Srirangapatna, near Mysore in southern India. It is mostly made out of teakwood.
Srirangapatna is an island in the river Kaveri, about 14 km from Mysore. In Srirangapatna is the Dariya Daulat Palace (Summer Palace) that is set amidst beautiful gardens called Daria Daulat Bagh. Tippu Sultan popularly known as the Tiger of Mysore, built this palace in 1784 and ruled Mysore from here for a short time after his father Hyder Ali wrested power from the Wodeyars in the middle of the 18th century. The palace is built in the Indo-Sarcenic style in mostly made of teakwood. The palace has a rectangular plan and is built on a raised platform. There are open corridors along the four sides of the platform with wooden pillars at the edges of the Plinth. The western and eastern wings have walls the other two wings have recessed bays with pillars supporting the roof. The four staircases are inconspicuous, built in the four partition walls that divide the audience hall into four rooms at four corners with a central hall connecting the eastern and western corridors. The most stunning feature of the palace is that all the space available on the walls, pillars, canopies and arches have colorful frescoes in the style of Mysore paintings. The outer walls of the palace have frescoes of the battle scenes and portraits. The inner walls are decorated with scrolls of thin foliage and floral patterns. The wooden ceilings of the palace are pasted with canvas painted with floral patterns. On the western wall are painting that depict the celebrated victory achieved by Haider Ali and Tippu Sultan over the English lead by Col. Bailee in the battle of Pollilur near Kanchipuram in 1780. The panels on the left wing depict he armies led by Haider Ali and Tippu Sultan going to battle and on the right wing Col. Bailee is shown seated in a palanquin troubled, with the English army surrounding him, besieged by the army of Tippu Sultan. There is a painting at the extreme top right, of French soldiers led by Lally, who are looking through a telescope. The top panels shows the Nizam of Hyderabad and his army of horsemen and elephants arriving a little too late to help his allies, the English. The eastern wall has paintings in five rows representing the scenes of Darbars of different contemporaries of Tippu Sultan including the Hindu Rani of Chitor, the Raja of Tanjore, the Raja Benares, Balaji Rao II Peshwa, Magadi Kepegowda and Madakari Nayaka of Chitradurga and Krishnaraja Wodeyar II.On the top floor of the Daria Daulat Palace is the Tippu Sultan Museum. It has a collection of Tippu memorabilia, European paintings and Persian manuscripts. The museum has the famous painting Storming of Srirangapattanam an oil painting by Sir Robert Ker Porter made in 1800. This historical painting depicts the final fall of Srirangapatana on 4 May 1799. Tippu's men are seen giving stiff resistance to the British army and many British officers are clearly visible in the painting. In background behind the fort walls are seen parts of the Palace and the minarets of the mosque. Close by is Tippu's fort that lies in ruins now. It is in this fort that Tippu died fighting the British. In the fort are the Jama Masjid and the Ranganathaswamy Temple. Tippu's Palace the Lal Mahal lies in ruins nearby. Outside the fort is the Gumbaz that contains Tippu's tomb, his father Haider Ali's tomb and his mother's tomb.

Tipu Sultan's Palace in Mysore or Wodiyar King palace?
Martin Kv tells us that This is not Tippu Sultan's palace. Tippu died in 1799. It is built by Mysore Maharaja Krishnaraja Wadiyar, initiated by Maharani Kempurajamanni Vani Vilas in the year 1897 and was completed in 1912. The architect was Sir Henri Irvin.
Shankara Swamy also tells us that This is not Tippu's palace; his place is called Dharia Dhaulath and is in Srirangapattana. This Mysore palace was built by the original rulers of Mysore - great maharajas of Mysore after around 200 years after Tippu's death.
The grand summer palace of Tipu Sultan has now been converted into a museum, and it is a must-see attraction in Mysore. Magnificent figures, paintings and other artwork adorn this palace. A unique feature of the palace is that it had been constructed using pure teak wood, something that is hard to find in today’s world.

Daria Daulat Bagh | Tipu Sultan's SUMMER PALACE | Srirangapatna, Bangalore Tour | KSTDC Mysore Trip
About This Video-
Conducted tour by KARNATAKA STATE TOURISM DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION or KSTDC.
Tipu Sultan’s Summer Palace, known as Daria Daulat Bagh, is located in Srirangapatna, Bangalore, Karnataka, India. It was the summer residence of the Mysorean ruler Tipu Sultan. Hyder Ali, Tipu’s father commenced its construction within the walls of the Bangalore Fort, but it was completed during the era of Tipu Sultan in 1791, hence named after him.
DESCRIPTION-
Bangalore or Bengaluru, the ever beautiful city, balances its modernity as well as preserves the ancient traditions and culture bringing together the beauty of its own.
Tipu Sultan’s Summer Palace paints a picture of the Indo-Islamic style of architecture. The pillars and wall are intricately decorated with carving and motifs. But the structure is devoid of heavily adorned marble, red sandstone and rather this structure was built entirely of teak and stands adorned with pillars, arches, and balconies.
The rooms on the ground floor have been converted into a small museum showcasing various achievements of Tipu Sultan and his administration.
Beautiful floral motifs are embellished on the walls of the palace. It was as if all the walls and pillars had a story to say to all those who wished to hear. Though the mansion is not grand in size, its amazing wooden architecture is one thing that shouldn’t be missed out. For photography buffs, its magnificent balconies and stairways create a perfect shot.
After Tipu Sultan’s death in the Fourth Anglo-Mysore War, the British Administration used the palace for its Secretariat before moving to Attara Kacheri in 1868. Today the government of Karnataka maintains the palace.
The place is open for public visits from 8:30am to 5:30pm every day. Entry fee for Indians Rs. 15 and for Foreigners Rs. 200, no fee for Still Camera but Rs. 25 for Video Camera.

Tipu Sultan's Summer Palace Museum Bangalore Tourism Karnataka Tourism Tippu Red Palace or Lal Mahal
Tipu Sultan's Summer Palace Bangalore Tourism Karnataka Tourism Tippu Palace Teak Palace Bengaluru. Also known as Tippu's Red Palace or Lal Mahal. Tipu Sultan also Known as Tiger of Mysore, was the ruler of the Kingdom of Mysore from the year 1782 CE to 1799 CE.Tippus Palace was Built in the year 1791, the palace was used as the summer residence of the Sultan.Tipu Sultans Summer palace is located at the juncture of Albert Victor Road and Krishna Rajendra, chamarajpet at the center of Old Bangalore near the Kalasipalyam bus stand. The summer palace of Tipu is a Major tourist spot in Bengaluru.
The construction of the palace started during the reign of Hyder Ali and was completed in 1791, during the rule of Tipu Sultan.Tipu Sultan's Summer Palace, in Bangalore,Karnataka India, is an example of Indo-Islamic architecture and was the summer residence of the Mysorean ruler Tipu Sultan. After Tipu Sultan's death in the Fourth Anglo-Mysore War, the British Administration used the palace for its secretariat before moving to Attara Kacheri in 1868. Today the government of Karnataka maintains this Summer palace of Tipu Sultan.
The structure was built entirely of teak wood and stands adorned with pillars, arches and balconies. It is believed that Tipu Sultan used to conduct his durbar (court) from the eastern and western balconies of the upper floor. There are four smaller rooms in the corners of first floor which were Zenana Quarters. There are beautiful floral motifs embellishing the walls of the palace. The site also holds a painting of grand throne visualized by Tipu Sultan himself. Coated with gold sheets and stuck with precious emerald stones, Tipu had vowed never to use it until he completely defeated the British Army. After Tipu Sultan's death, the British dismantled the throne and auctioned its parts as it was too expensive for a single person to buy whole.
The rooms in the ground floor have been converted into a small museum showcasing various achievements of Tipu Sultan and his administration. Video and photography is not permitted inside the Museum. There are newly done portraits of the people and places of that time. There is a replica of Tipu's Tiger, which is in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. Tipu Sultan's clothes and his crown are present in silver and gold pedestals. The silver vessels given by a general to Hyder Ali is also displayed.
Farsi inscription at Tipu Sultan's Palace, English Translation of it reads-
As soon as the foundation of this palace was laid,
its head was raised to heaven with joy.
Oh, what a lofty mansion, a home of happiness,
its summit being above the skies.
It is a house of glass in purity,
all who see it are struck with wonder.
In magnificence it rivals the sky,
which hangs down its head with shame.
The description alone of this palace, when heard by Faridiin,
It caused hira to go to his long sleep.
I sought by computation according to Zar(2) for the date,
and an unseen angel said—A house of happiness, 1196(1781 A.D.).
When the painting of this new palace was finished,
it cast the beauty of China into oblivion.
I sought for this date from Khizir(3) the wise,
who said— Doubtless it is envied by heaven,
1206(1791 A.D.)
