Project Branson: Titanic Museum Attraction
Hear directly from successful entrepreneurs and West Highway 76 business owners about the energy, excitement and exposure available with a location on Branson's entertainment corridor at ProjectBranson.com.
For more than 100 years, Branson, Missouri has been attracting visitors to the Ozarks, lured initially by the natural beauty and outdoor recreational activities. Tourism has long been the economic driver for this region, spurred by the success of Silver Dollar City beginning in the 1960's, three pristine lakes and a wide variety of family entertainment, attractions and shows ever since.
In the 1990's, Branson became known as the Live Music Show Capital of the World with a featured segment on the very popular 60 Minutes television news show. Literally overnight, the growing city with a small town atmosphere became a national entertainment and tourism Mecca.
Today, Branson continues to welcome tourists from across the country and around the world, but the core of its visitor base resides in America's Heartland. Branson is a central vacation destination within a day's drive for approximately 30% of the population of the United States. It also embodies essential Midwestern values such as patriotism, faith, courage, generosity of spirit and a warm inviting atmosphere that is at the heart of America.

Branson is an Ozark town in southwest Missouri known as a family vacation destination. Its 76 Country Boulevard is famously lined with theaters, which once hosted mostly country music performers but today present diverse entertainment. Also along the strip are the Marvel Cave, the Wild West-style Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede Dinner Attraction and Silver Dollar City, an 1800s-themed amusement park with live music.
Branson has long been a popular destination for vacationers from Missouri and neighboring areas. The collection of entertainment theaters along 76 Country Boulevard (and to a lesser extent along Shepherd of the Hills Expressway), including Dolly Parton's Stampede, has increased Branson's popularity as a tourist destination. Branson now draws visitors from all regions of the country and even internationally.
Besides the numerous entertainment theaters for which Branson is famous, other local attractions include Hollywood Wax Museum Branson, Silver Dollar City, White Water, Mount Pleasant Winery, Curling Vine Winery, Ride the Ducks, Dolly Parton's Stampede, ziplines, cave tours, go-karts, mini golf, and more. Ripley's Odditorium is housed in a building that has been made to look as if it is cracked wide open by an earthquake or other disaster, while the Titanic Museum is a half-scale replica of the famous ship and iceberg.
Branson Landing opened in the summer of 2006 on the Lake Taneycomo waterfront in downtown Branson. The lakefront project includes retail space with Bass Pro Shops and Belk as anchors in an outdoor shopping mall of stores and restaurants. It also features a scenic boardwalk along the lakefront with the Branson Landing Fountains at the heart of the property as well as a Hilton Hotel. Branson Landing has been known to host summer concerts and other special events throughout the year. The convention center, situated between Branson Landing and Historic Downtown Branson, opened September 7, 2007. The Branson Scenic Railway is located in the old depot, across from Branson Landing.
Hokey Branson is a cheerfully shameless tourist resort. The main attractions are the more than 50 theaters hosting 100-plus country music, magic and comedy shows. The neon-lit '76 Strip' (Hwy 76) packs in miles of motels, restaurants, wax museums, shopping malls, fun parks and theaters. Drive just a few minutes out of town, however, and you'll find yourself in pristine Ozark wilderness.

State Route 76 - Branson - Missouri | Drive America's Highways ????
???? Drive America's Highways for 5 miles west along Missouri Route 76 in Branson.
WATCH THIS ROUTE THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION:
We start the route at the intersection of Missouri Route 76 and Business 65 in downtown Branson. Continuing west, we cross US Highway 65 and reach Roark Valley Rd, where MO-76 becomes known as then Branson Strip -- where all the fun stuff is to do.
As we turn left at the Y, we continue on 76 west through the entertainment district of Branson. At any other time of the day, this road is bumper to bumper traffic. If you are trying to get west of Branson, there are various alternate routes you can take. We don't recommend using this route as a through route. But we digress.
Driving down the strip we pass the Dixie Stampede, the Track and other various attractions and theaters. We cross Missouri Route 176 about 2/3 of the way through the video (you will see the Titanic Museum and the Branson Wheel) before 76 turns northwest towards Silver Dollar City and even more attractions.
Towards the end of the video, 76 plays host to more traditional tourist traps, such as the Cracker Barrel and various fast food shacks. At Missouri Highway 376 and the Shepherd of the Hills Expressway interchange, we end the video as we turn east on the expressway.

Titanic failure | Roadschool Field Trip | Titanic Museum in Pigeon Forge TN
More Titanic stuff here!!
Pigeon Forge is full of tourist trap attractions. We decided to take a road school field trip and visit the Titanic Museum. The building is shaped like a ship hitting an iceberg. We got there, and there are no cameras allowed inside. So unfortunately we couldn't complete a video tour of it. But we did have fun and enjoyed learning about the tragic voyage. There were lots of cool artifacts and exhibits. The front of the ship itself is pretty interesting, looks like a ship steaming through the water! Titanic 2,

Titanic Museum Welcomes Survivors - John Dunn
This weekend marks the 100th anniversary of one of the world's great tragedies.More than 1,500 people were killed when the Titanic sank in the icy North Atlantic.FOX 17 News traveled to Tennessee's own Titanic museum in Pigeon Forge, and spoke to relatives of Titanic survivors.Moored at the base of the Smoky Mountains, the RMS Titanic has been replicated in Tennessee. The 1997 movie helped create a fascination with the disaster at sea, but for those closest to the tragedy, it has always been a personal memory. She was in her state room, in her bed, and it literally knocked her on the floor, says Helen Benziger.Helen Benziger is a special guest at Pigeon Forge's Titanic musuem. She's the great-granddaughter of Margaret Brown.Played in the movie by Kathy Bates, Margaret is better known as the Unsinkable Molly Brown. She was everything that everybody imagines her to be, but more, says Helen Benziger.Benziger spoke to us from the opulent first class stateroom, which has been recreated as a museum exhibit. While she never met her famous great-grandmother, she's pleased to know her story, and Titanic's, have not been forgotten.Titanic was the first, the very first global disaster, says Helen Benziger. On April 14, 1912 Titanic struck an iceberg in the North Atlantic. More than 1,500 people on board for her maiden voyage perished at sea.Tim Lightoller's grandfather, Charles, was the 2nd Officer on the ship.It was quite clear that his personal predominant aim was the safety of people, says Tim Lightoller.Lightoller miraculously survived the sinking. He was swept clear of the ship when one its four funnels splashed into the water. His grandson traveled to Pigeon Forge from Scotland to see the museum, which includes a full scale replica of Titanic's grand staircase. But I think it does give a very strong accurate message about the Titanic and what went on, says Lightoller. While the museum contains hundreds of artifacts, the pictures by Father Frances Browne are perhaps the most priceless. They are the only known photographs of people on board the ship.So you get a picture of a particular room, or a particular scene, that is the only thing we have to go on, apart from the plans of the ship, says photo expert Edwin Davison. Some of the photos helped film director James Cameron visualize the ship's interior. One of the most famous pictures of a boy spinning a top was re-created as a scene in the movie. It is extremely rare for you to see the photo album, which contains Father Browne's original photographs. It is normally kept in a bank vault in Ireland, and it has never been on display before. The Titanic museum will continue to welcome thousands of visitors, most of whom have no connection to the ship, but Margaret Brown's great-granddaughter hopes they will all remember those on board, passengers and crew, survivors and victims. The artifacts are just a vehicle, and they pay homage to the passengers, says Benziger. The Titanic museum is open seven days a week. The Father Browne photo album is only on display until April 22nd before it returns to Ireland. For news updates follow John Dunn on twitter @WZTVJohnDunn

State Highway 76 - Silver Dollar City - Downtown Branson - Missouri | Drive America's Highways ????
???? Drive America's Highways for 11 miles east along Missouri State Route 76 from Silver Dollar City to the Branson Landing in downtown Branson, Missouri.
WATCH THIS ROUTE THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION:
Take a mid-afternoon drive east down the Country Music Boulevard in Branson, Missouri -- the live music show capital of the world. We start the drive having just left Silver Dollar City, merging onto Missouri State Highway 76 towards Branson.
Our first interchange, shortly after we start, is with Missouri Highway 265 which will take you down to Table Rock Lake State Park and ultimately back to US Highway 65, just south of Branson.
Continuing east, we pass the Ozark Mountain High Road (Missouri 465) before reaching the Shepherd of the Hills complex before entering Branson proper.
Entering Branson, we cross the Shepherd of the Hills Expressway and begin driving the Branson Strip -- a stretch of road that is about 4 miles in length yet, even on a good day, will take at least 20 minutes to traverse. Someone at MoDOT thought it would be cute to cram 10,000 cars down a 2-lane highway 4 times a day at least. But I digress. The Branson Strip is where you will find most anything and everything in Branson. Granted, some of the newer stuff is on the Shepherd of the Hills Expressway, but the vast majority is on 76.
At the Titanic museum, we cross Missouri Highway 165 which will take you back to Table Rock Lake and to MO-265. Continuing east, we pass more theaters and restaurants before finally reaching U.S. Highway 65 -- the main highway in and out of Branson.
Passing US-65, we start down the mountain into historic Downtown Branson where we meet probably the longest (and not properly working) stoplight in existence. Most of the lights in Branson are long, but this one really takes the cake. You will see. At this light, Missouri Highway 76 (and US-65B) turn right leaving us on an local street for the remainder of the video. We continue straight down Main Street until the end of the road at Branson Landing Road and the Branson Landing.
NOTE: We are using a new camera -- GoPro Hero 5. That allows us cool new features like the map overlay and compass you see in the video. We are experimenting with this feature in the next few videos -- we hope you like it.
Secondly, this entire video is in real time, with the exception of the stop lights. Like we said, the lights in Branson are LONG. So when we are stopped at a light, we speed the video up almost to 500%.
Lastly, there is a segment of the video where we cross the double yellow and almost have a head-on with another car. Let this be a lesson, folks, that kids need to be strapped in and duct taped shut -- kidding, but you know what we mean.
Update: 10/19: As of October 25, 2019, This is no longer Missouri Highway 76, as MO-76 has been re-routed to the Highroad.
