Mikimoto Pearl Island (御木本真珠島), Toba City, Mie Prefecture, Japan
Mikimoto Pearl Island (御木本真珠島), known as The Home of the Cultured Pearls is located south of Nagoya City, in Toba, Mie Prefecture, Japan.
Mikimoto Pearl Island is the home of the Mikimoto pearl. Pearls were cultured successfully for the first time in history in 1893 using a method developed by Kokichi Mikimoto.
The surroundings of the Island have a Kokichi Mikimoto Memorial Hall, Pearl Plaza (shop), a demonstration of how the women divers were used many years ago to dive for pearls and a GREAT pearl museum. All these are surrounded by a beautiful Ise Shima Bay.
In my opinion the Pearl Museum is the best, it explains how cultured pearls are made and how the natural pearls are made. They also have a some great collections of pearls from all over the pearl producing nations. The video inside the museum is not great but I highly recommend all of you to visit the museum and take it all in.
The Pearl Plaza has some REALLY expensive jewellery made with pearls but it also has some great inexpensive items (not jewellery but small boxes, toys etc.) made with pearls.
Hope you get a chance to visit Toba City and the Mikimoto Pearl Island in your travels in Japan. Enjoy!!!!

Biggest Seafood Market in Korea | Jagalchi Market
The Jagalchi Fish Market is world famous and is the largest fish market in Korea. The market is located near the Name Port in Busan. Every single day a variety of fish and sea creatures is delivered to the market by a large fleet of fishing boats. The Jagalchi Fish Market is open 7 days a week, from 8am to 10pm. There is no entrance fee to the Busan Fish Market.
You can take fresh seafood home with you or order it and have it cooked in front of your eyes at one of the many restaurants. There are endless stalls selling seafood that is raw, cooked and dried. There are stalls inside and outside the market. The smell is intense and your senses will be overwhelmed. Much of the fish an sea creatures are still alive and submerged in tanks.
The Jagalchi Fish Market has every type of seafood you could imagine. We found live octopus, various types of sharks, whales, tuna, squid, shell fish and other endangered species of fish.
We spent a few hours touring the market, however as vegetarians it was hard to stomach and although it was interesting. We decided we had enough when we saw that they we’re selling whale.

World's Most Beautiful Starbucks ★ ONLY in JAPAN
Where is the world's most beautiful Starbucks? Japan, of course.
In Toyama city's Kansui Park is a shop that has won awards for it's design, but it's also the location that makes it beautiful. Those big windows overlook a lake in a park, the building resting upon grass, surrounded by sakura trees. The fresh air off the sea of Japan and the beautiful sunsets over the nearby Japanese Alps can't be forgotten. I could sip a hot cappuccino all day here.
But wait! Starbucks newest shop in Kyoto (Ninenzaka) is a traditional tea house that looks centuries old! It's hard to tell it's a Starbucks until you see the sign. Inside, it's like going back in time. You definitely feel Kyoto's historical vibe sitting on tatami sipping macha tea ... lattes. This may also be the world's most beautiful shop.
Hakodate in Hokkaido is home to what many consider to be the coziest Starbucks in the world. It's got a fireplace, wide open rooms and stairs, natural hard wood floors and a beautiful deck that overlooks Hakodate Bay. It's super cozy!
Yeah, visiting Starbucks is certainly one attraction for many visitors because it seems more than just a chain coffee shop. To me, it a reflection of the world around us -- and a really good cup of coffee.
THIS IS NOT A SPONSORED VIDEO.
I made this episode from a suggestion from a viewer in 2016 :) I also like Starbucks Japan because it's the only cafe chain that is non-smoking and has excellent coffee.

World's Best Convenience Store? (7-ELEVEN THAILAND)
It’s funny because where I grew up (Arizona), I never thought of 7-Eleven being a desirable place to visit. The only reason I'd ever go to 7-Eleven to fill up my gas tank and/or get a slurpee.
But in Thailand (and many Asian countries), 7-Eleven takes on a completely new meaning. It’s your one stop shop for anything and everything you can think of. 7-Eleven pretty much the World's Best convenience store in the history of mankind.
Inside 7-Eleven, you can find (literally) thousands of unique food and beverage options — but even beyond that, 7-Eleven is a place where you can pay your phone & internet bills, schedule mail for pick up, purchase sporting event tickets and grab all of your toiletries and cosmetics.
Thailand alone has over 11,000 7-Eleven locations (the second-most behind Japan) and it does 500 billion Baht ($15B USD) in revenue a year. It's hard to explain how incredible this store is unless you've been to Thailand (or Asia) and experienced it for yourself.
What are you thoughts on 7-Eleven? Anyone else agree with me?

Foreigner explores Medan, Indonesia. ????????
Everyone told me to be careful in Medan. Watch out! the said. Well there wasn't much to watch out for except friendly, smiling locals who wanted to chat and take selfies with me.
The guidebooks all tell you to skip Medan. There's nothing worth seeing there. It's only worth staying overnight if you have arrive late at night.. A city is always very interesting to me though. Okay it doesn't have a Disneyland or ruins of ancient buildings, but I like to see how ordinary people are going about their daily lives more than visiting tourist traps anyway.
I started off with a visit to Centre Point mall, finally getting a SIM card. With that I was able to use the GoJek app and no longer have to negotiate with the Becaks (Indonesian motorcycle rickshaws). It's also handy being able to pull up Google Maps when you're exploring by foot.
At the mall there's a street food food court where you can enjoy authentic Indonesia hawker food in air conditioned comfort (and pay much more for the privilege, but it's still cheap.)
I walked from the mall to Lapangan Merdeka, a big city park where I watched the local kids train to dance in a BTS style and read a poem about Indonesia's independence struggle. That's what I mean when I said you don't need to find massive popular tourist attractions to find something interesting in a city.
From there I walked to the mansion of Tjong A Fie, who was the richest man in Medan a century ago. His family still own the building but most of it has been turned into a museum, which, as museums go was very interesting. It helps a lot that a tour guide is assigned to you for free when you buy the (cheap) ticket.
I ended my afternoon exploration of Medan with a visit to a royal palace known as Istana Maimum. There you can hire traditional Malay clothes to wear for only 20,000 Rupiahs while you explore the palace. I was very sweaty by that point because of the insane humidity and walking around all day, but I still put the costume on and tried not to pass out from the heat.
