Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building (東京都庁舎 Tōkyō-to Chōsha) is one of the most recognizable landmarks of Tokyo. Created by architect Kenzo Tange, it hosts the headquarters of the Government of the Tokyo Metropolitan area. It is also one of the best observatories in Tokyo and entrance of either of its two towers is free.

Shinjuku (新宿区 Shinjuku-ku, New Lodge) is one of the 23 special wards of Tokyo, Japan. It is a major commercial and administrative centre, housing the busiest train station in the world (Shinjuku Station) and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building, the administration centre for the government of Tokyo.
As of 2008, the ward has an estimated population of 312,418 and a population density of 17,140 persons per km². The total area is 18.23 km².

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building (東京都庁舎 Tōkyō-to Chōsha), also referred to as Tokyo City Hall or Tochō (都庁) for short, houses the headquarters of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, which governs not only the 23 wards, but also the cities, towns and villages that make up Tokyo as a whole.
Located in Shinjuku, the building consists of a complex of three structures, each taking up a city block. The tallest and most prominent of the three is Tokyo Metropolitan Main building No.1, a tower 48 stories tall that splits into two sections at the 33rd floor. The building also has three levels below ground. The design of the building (which was meant to resemble a computer chip), by architect Kenzo Tange (and associates), has many symbolic touches, most notably the aforementioned split which re-creates the look of a Gothic cathedral.
The other two buildings in the complex are the eight-story Tokyo Metropolitan Assembly Building (including one underground floor) and Tokyo Metropolitan Main Building No.2, which has 37 stories including three below ground.
The two panoramic observation decks, one in each tower on floor 45 (202 meters [663 ft] high), are free of charge to the public and contain gift shops and cafes. They are open till 23:00 on weekdays. Use of cameras is permitted, but tripods are forbidden.

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building (東京都庁, Tōkyō Tochō) in Shinjuku is often visited by tourists for its free observation decks which provide good panoramic views of Tokyo and beyond. The 243 meter tall building has two towers, and each houses an observatory at a height of 202 meters. It had been the tallest building in Tokyo until it was overtaken by the Midtown Tower in 2007.

There were still few passers by around 6 o'clock when I shot a movie. 私が動画を撮影した６時頃はまだ通行人は少なかったです。
Because the west side of Shinjuku station will be an office town, a lot of workers commute to work one hour later. 新宿駅の西側はオフィス街になりますので、あと１時間も経てばたくさんの会社員が通勤します。

From the beginning to the end I have not gone up the stairs, but at the end of the video the road I was walking in the beginning can be seen down. 最初から最後まで私は階段を上っていないのですが動画の最終地点では初めに歩いていた道路が下に見えます。
Near the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, the roads intersect three-dimensionally, so you do not know if you are walking on the ground or underground. 都庁の近くは道が立体交差しており、自分が今歩いているところが地上なのか地下なのかわからなくなります。

It's day 3 in Japan, and today we visited Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building, Ueno park and Sensoji temple in Asakusa.
Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building is a skyscraper with a free observation deck with great panoramic views of Tokyo.
Ueno Park is a park with beautiful nature, shrines, temples, souvenir shops. a few restaurants and even a zoo.
Asakusa is famous for Sensoji Temple. a beautiful red temple with a giant gate in front. There's also a lot of souvenir shops and street food around the shrine.
We ended the night with going to Izakaya, followed by karaoke.

Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building - a great free observatory in Tokyo
The Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building, or Tokyo City Hall, has two panoramic observation decks, the north and south. This video was shot from the south tower which is considered by most people to be the best. Entry is absolutely free and the views are really good. You can see so much of the city so it is well worth the visit!
