Ikebukuro Station
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ikebukuro Station (池袋駅 Ikebukuro-eki) is a major railway station located in the Ikebukuro district of Toshima, Tokyo, Japan. With 2.71 million passengers on an average daily in 2007, it is the second-busiest railway station in the world (after Shinjuku Station), and the busiest station in the Tobu, Seibu and Tokyo Metro networks. It primarily serves commuters from Saitama and other residential areas northwest of the city centre. It is the Tokyo terminal of the Seibu Ikebukuro Line and the Tōbu Tōjō Line.
Station layout
Ikebukuro Station has two main entrances, the East exit and the West exit. There are a number of other secondary entrances such as the JR North exit, the various Seibu exits. and multiple subway exits.
The JR lines run north/south through the center. The Tobu platforms are to the northwest and the Seibu platforms are to the southeast. Both Tobu and Seibu operate department stores adjacent to their terminal stations. (Ironically, Seibu (西武) starts with the kanji for west (西), but its platforms are in the eastern part of the station, while Tōbu (東武) starts with the character for east (東), but its platforms are in the western part of the station.)
The Marunouchi Line and Yūrakuchō Line run east/west two stories underground, while the Tokyo Metro Fukutoshin Line is four stories underground to the west of the main station complex. The latter line currently runs south toward Shinjuku and Shibuya along Meiji-dori, and by 2012 will offer through service to Motomachi-Chūkagai Station in Yokohama via the Tōkyū Tōyoko Line and Minatomirai Line.
Tokyo Metro's Echika underground mall is also located inside the station.
The surrounding Ikebukuro district is a major commercial centre. Sunshine City, Parco, Mitsukoshi, and Bic Camera are located to the east of the station, while the Metropolitan Plaza is located to the west.

The The Sunshine 60 contains a large and popular shopping mall, which contains various attractions including an aquarium, a Pokémon Center, and cat cafes.
A visit to Keiji Mutoh's restaurant is a must. Keiji Mutoh is and was The Great Muta from the WWE and WCW wrestling days in the 90's.
There are many electronic stores like Bic Camera and Labi to visit.
Ikebukuro is not as big as Shinjuku may be, but does offer a big city feel with comfort and fun.
Hope you enjoy

Guys, I've decided that I'm going to take a more direct and honest approach with you, my viewers. And part of that real talk has to do with something most Youtubers are not that willing to talk about - money.
The thing with Youtube ad-revenue is that it really doesn't make channels money, and the only way smaller channels can earn an income worth the time spent making videos is with lots of low quality content, or sponsored content.
Thus, I started Patreon to help with the costs of producing these videos. There's a few costs like: travelling around Tokyo, entrance fees and the cost of my time (hundreds of hours scripting, shooting, editing).
A lot of my fellow YouTuber friends are using Patreon so that their audience can support them directly. I would LOVE to make working on this channel my full-time job, so If you feel that my content is worth it then please have a look at my Patreon page and help me grow TheTokyo Drew community.
Let's make awesome vids together:

Philharmonia VR Sound Stage in Tokyo - January 2020
This January, the Philharmonia Orchestra and Principal Conductor and Artistic Advisor Esa-Pekka Salonen take up residency at the hall of the Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre in both live and digital formats, as part of the Orchestra’s five-concert Japan tour, which is supported by Citi.
From 11 January, the Orchestra’s VR Sound Stage is presented, for free, at the Atelier West of Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre, in partnership with Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre and the British Council. In its Japanese premiere, Mahler’s Third captures the final ten minutes of Mahler’s Symphony No. 3, conducted by Esa-Pekka Salonen in front of a live audience at Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall on 1 October 2017.
VR Sound Stage, the latest of the Orchestra’s pioneering virtual reality projects, and the most high-tech experience to date, invites audiences to take a seat inside a room, put on a VR headset, and experience Mahler’s music in ground-shaking detail. Audiences of up to 15 at a time will begin ‘seated’ in the heart of the Orchestra, right in front of conductor Esa-Pekka Salonen, and experience the performance unfolding around them.
In addition to the presentation inside the venue, video and audio of the Orchestra performing Mahler’s Third Symphony will be presented at the Global Ring Theatre, a new public outdoor stage (with a 360-degree sound system) right outside the Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre. This presentation, hosted by Toshima City, will run twice an evening until the end of the month as a large-scale outdoor sound installation.
The Philharmonia Orchestra’s live and digital residency at Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre concert hall is one of the key cultural projects of UK in JAPAN 2019-20, an ambitious joint initiative by the British Council and the British Embassy Tokyo highlighting the breadth of the UK relationship with Japan, from culture to business.
The Philharmonia’s Japan Tour Partner is Citi.
