The tekomai geisha from Fukagawa/Tatsumi area in Koto Ward, Tokyo wear a colorful costume which is partially masculine with trousers instead of skirts. They only sing traditional chant-like songs called kiyari. They do not dance. You can see them at the Tomioka Hachiman Festival in Aug. and at Koto Ward Citizens' Festival at Kiba Park in mid-Oct. as in this video taken on Oct. 17, 2010 at Kiba Park in Koto-ku, Tokyo. Photos:

Tomioka Hachiman Shrine (富岡八幡宮 Tomioka Hachimangū) is the largest Hachiman Shrine in Tokyo.
The shrine was founded in 1627 with reclamation of the shoal. The God Hachiman whom the shrine reveres was also a local Shinto deity of the Minamoto clan thus the shinto shrine received cordial protection by the Tokugawa shogunate. On other hand, the shrine was cordinal revered from the people of shitamachi, and familiar as Hachiman of Fukagawa.
At the Meiji period, the shrine lost the cordial protection like Edo period, but was chosen as Tokyo Ten Shrines (東京十社 Tokyo Jissha?) by the Meiji government though it was the one inferior to Hikawa Shrine and other major shrines in the status that the government had provided.
On March 10, 1945, the shrine was burnt down by the bombing of Tokyo. On March 18, the Emperor Hirohito who was inspecting the burnt area visited here and received the explanation about the damage in precincts. At the returning to his palace, the emperor described his impression to Hisanori Fujita, his Grand Chamberlains, compared with Great Kanto Earthquake in 1923 had seen in his Crown Prince age:

日本刀で…宮司の女性死亡、切った弟は自殺

７日夜、東京・江東区で男女２人組が富岡八幡宮の宮司の女性ら２人を日本刀で切りつけた。宮司の女性は死亡し、切りつけた男女２人もその後、自殺を図るなどし死亡した。
警視庁によると７日午後８時半ごろ、江東区の富岡八幡宮の前の路上で、宮司の富岡長子さん（５８）が車から降りたところ、突然、弟に日本刀で切りつけられた。さらに、富岡さんの運転手の男性も逃げようとしたところ、弟と一緒に現場に来ていた女に、日本刀で切りつけられたという。
目撃者「（Ｑ：どんな状況？）刀を振り上げた女の人が追いかけていったのだけ見ました」「腕を切られたっていって、傷はもうふさがれて、隠されてわかんなかったけど。血だらけでした（切られたのは）男性でしたね」
富岡さんは搬送先の病院で死亡が確認され、運転手の男性は腕などを切られたが、命に別条はないという。
弟と女の２人は、その後、富岡八幡宮の敷地内に入り、弟が女を刃物で刺した後、自らも胸を刺して自殺を図り、２人とも死亡した。
警視庁は、富岡長子さんと弟の間に何らかのトラブルがあり、弟らが日本刀で２人を襲ったとみて、殺人事件として捜査している。

6月8日に撮影。土手通りに出た神輿は、このあと「いろは会商店街」の近くを通り、いろは商店街を横切って日の出会商店街の通りの宮入開始地点に向かう。
本社神輿は4年に1度の渡御。

７日夜、東京・江東区にある富岡八幡宮の敷地内で切りつけ事件があり、宮司の女性など男女３人が意識不明の重体、男性１人が軽傷。神社内でのトラブルが事件に発展したとみられている。
警視庁によると７日午後８時３５分ごろ、東京・江東区で「刃物を持った人がいる」と１１０番通報があった。警察官がかけつけると、富岡八幡宮やその周辺で男女３人が倒れているのが見つかったという。
３人は、富岡八幡宮の宮司の女性と、神社の職員の男女とみられ、いずれも意識不明の重体。
また、現場には宮司の専属の運転手の男性もいて、軽いケガをしているという。
現場には、血がついた日本刀とサバイバルナイフも落ちており、事件に使用したとみられている。
警視庁は、宮司やその運転手の男性が、職員とみられる男女とトラブルになり、切りつけ事件に発展したとみている。軽いケガをした宮司の運転手の男性から当時の状況を詳しく聞いている。

元々一人暮らしをしていた場所だったのですが、引っ越しに伴いマンションの退去立ち会いのために門前仲町に寄りました。
門前仲町は古き良き街で、風情があり、好きな街でした。
富岡八幡宮や成田山 東京別院 深川不動堂が有名でしょうか。
深川めしも有名なのでお立ち寄りの際はぜひ一度食べてみてはいかがでしょう。オススメです。
