Kita-in (喜多院) temple is located in Kawagoe district in Saitama Prefecture, Japan. This temple is the main temple for people of Kawagoe.
Part of the Edo Castle has been moved into this temple precincts, including the birthplace (room) of Third Shogun of Japan Iemitsu. There are many artificats that belonged to the Shogun's household like the paintings, in a museum in the temple precincts.
One of the most awe inspiring things in the temple precincts is the 500 statues of Rakan (Buddhas). Every statue is different in this set of Buddhas and you should definitely visit this temple to see it.
I have a separate video of the 500 Rakan in my youtube channel, please watch that video too.

Saitama Seibu Lions Mascot's Kawagoe Adventures: Ride a Rickshaw Through Koedo's Streets!
Join Leo and Lina, the Saitama Seibu Lions mascots, as they try riding a rickshaw, one of the many ways to enjoy Kawagoe City's Koedo (Little Edo, Traditional Tokyo) warehouse district.
In this video, Leo and Lina visit Toki no Kane, Kawagoe's traditional time bell tower, and the kurazukuri warehouse district, which features some of the only surviving Tokyo-style buildings from the Edo Period (1603-1868).
From a rickshaw, you can experience the time-traveling atmosphere of Kawagoe from a different point of view. Traveling in high style will definitely attract attention! Have a great time taking pictures and seeing the sights of Kawagoe from a rickshaw -- you're sure to love it as much as Leo and Lina did!

Saitama Kawagoe Kitain Temple -喜多院 - 4K Ultra HD
Saitama Kawagoe Kitain Temple -喜多院 - 4K Ultra HD : Head temple of the Tendai Sect in the Kanto region, Kitain Temple was originally part of a three-temple complex built in 830 and slowly became the Tendai Sect’s main temple around the 17th Century. This took place under the influence of Tenkai, a Japanese Buddhist monk, also known as Nankōbō Tenkai (南光坊 天海), who developed a deep and trusted relationship with the first 3 shoguns of the Edo period.
Heavily damaged by fire in 1638, Kitain Temple has been saved by the Shogun Iemitsu, who ordered the removal of several palace buildings from the Edo Castle (Tokyo) to Kawagoe. This move ended up saving them, without knowing it, from the great Kanto Earthquake of 1923 and the destruction during WWII. This makes Kitain today one of the only places in Japan where you can visit surviving buildings from Edo Castle.
Finally, and located just in front of Kitain’s main hall, you will find a very unusual garden made of 540 stones statues : Gohyaku Rakan. Each stone represents a disciple of Buddha and comes with its own unique facial expression.

Heirin-ji - Saitama - 平林寺 - 4K Ultra HD
Located in Saitama an hour away from Ikebukuro, Heirin-ji is a Rinzai temple of the Myoshin-ji Branch. The temple was originally founded in 1375 in Iwatsuki city by Sekishitsu Zenkyu , also in Saitama. The temple was destroyed in 1590 during the attack on Iwatsuki Castle by Toyotomi Hideyoshi and then later moved and rebuilt in 1603 in the Musashino woodlands of Niiza city.
Despite its small size Heirin-ji is one of Saitama’s most beautiful and best-kept-secrets to enjoy some spectacular turning leaves in autumn (momiji in Japanese). Popular among people living around Saitama, Heirin-ji is still accessible and free from foreign tourists!

Tokyo Ikegami Honmon-ji - 池上本門寺 - 4K Ultra HD
Tokyo Ikegami Honmon-ji - 池上本門寺 - 4K Ultra HD : Erected where the Japanese Saint Nichiren supposedly died in 1282, Ikegami Honmon-ji has been since then the administrative headquarters, as well as the training and living quarters, of the Nichiren Shu followers.
Located on top of a hill within Tokyo’s Ota ward, Ikegami Honmon-ji features many temples and other cultural attractions that are worth checking when visiting Tokyo. Among these cultural attractions you will find the Statue of Saint Nichiren, the Choeido Temple, the grave and bust of Rikidozan, the father of Japanese professional wrestling during the Showa period, a magnificent 5-storied pagoda built in 1608, the majestic Ikegami Honmon-ji main hall or Daibo and finally the Tahoto, a large 2-storey red pagoda located on the west side of the main temple.

THIS IS THE REAL JAPAN (for real): KAWAGOE
CHECK IT OUT: This is as close you get to stroll around a town or village in EDO-PERIOD Japan (17th-19th century) when SAMURAIS ruled the day. This is the real Japan. Kawagoe is a village, small town, not too far away from Tokyo. A historic town. A great day trip from Tokyo. The place is known as little Edo after the old name for Tokyo due to its many historic buildings. This is the real historic Japan type of place.
【4K】Sawara at sunset
Not a vlog, no intrusive faces or talking, pure Japan only.
Kawagoe is probably the most known place around Tokyo for old Japan views. But IMHO it's not the best place for that. Sawara has bigger street of old looking buildings along the river.

Tokyo | Japanese New Year — Where to go? What to do?
Visiting Japan during the New Year presents a unique experience for visitors but it’s also a quiet time that can seem boring for many. Between Jan 1 and 3rd, nearly everything g is closed, Japanese leave the cities to return to cultural home towns to be with family.
There are few countdown parties as it’s not part of Japanese culture to go out and get drunk on New Years Eve. TV News media usually focuses on Tokyo’s Shiba Park for the 108 bell chimes at the Buddhist Temple. Japanese New Year is a peaceful event.
★ try O-Sechi Ryori on New Year’s day - ask your hotel where you can try it!
★ walk around neighborhoods and try to find chances to make mochi! It’s fun and a great way to meet locals
★ prepare for everything to be closed in most else was and stock up on a few things you may need. ATM used to be closed for several days when I moved here in 1998 but these days you can get cash at any convenient store - but be warned that places close
★ book early if you’re traveling this time of year for train tickets and hotels — and NYE events if you choose to go out. The best places are sold out way in advance.
