Small Japanese Island, 答志島 Toshijima

A small island just off of Toba, in Mie prefecture, 答志島 Toshijima is home to mostly fishermen families. The locals hold an annual shrine festival, as well as adorn their buildings and homes with the kanji 八, meaning 8, due to the name of the shrine, which is meant to protect the island from storms and being luck to the fishermen.

【Mie】Day trip by Ise ferry from Osaka to Aichi

Since it was a holiday, I went on a day trip from Osaka to Nagoya. The Isewan Ferry is a convenient way to visit Ise Shrine, the Toba Aquarium, and the Shima area.
The embarkation time (cruise time) of the Isewan Ferry is about 55 minutes.
While on board, you can spend an elegant hour while looking at the islands of Ise such as Toshijima, Kashiwajima, and Kamijima. Irago had small waves and no surfers. The garlic fried rice from Nagoya is a must.
