A Little Info on Kragujevac, Serbia
Kragujevac, Serbia is located in the center of the country. We opened an office down there this year so I had to run down to work with some students. One of my best buddies, a Palestinian from Hebron, studies medicine there so I usually stay at his apartment.
Kragujevac is the 4th largest city in Serbia with around 180k people. Kragujevac was the first capital of modern Serbia (1818–39); the first constitution in the Balkans was proclaimed in the city in 1835. Further on, the first full-fledged university in the newly independent Serbia was founded in 1838, preceded by the first grammar school, printworks (both in 1833), professional National theatre (1835) and the Military academy (1837). The city was the site of a massacre by the Nazis, in which thousands of Serbs were murdered. Contemporary Kragujevac is known for its weapons and munition (Zastava Arms) and automobile industry (Fiat Automobili Srbija)
Inside Kafana in Kragujevac, Serbia
I was walking around Kragujevac, Serbia today looking for the big mall. I stopped two kids to ask directions and they ended up walking me all the way there. We stopped for a coffee and some food and they wanted to take me to see Serbian nightlife. I was a bit on edge because the US embassy had sent me a message warning me about the aftermath of the Croatia vs Serbia match and the anniversary of NATO bombing is on the 24th. We were having a great time when a big group of young men walked in and were discussing me. My friends told me not worry. Two of the kids came over to sit with me and talk to me. I was grilled on my position on many international events, situations, etc.. One thing that sparks distrust and hatred is lack of communication. They had never talked to an American before. I hope I left a good impression. I must have done something right because I left without any issues. Very nice people...

Driving in Serbia: Golubac to Belgrade on State Road 34
This video shares the highlights of my trip along highway 34 in Serbia from Golubac to Belgrade.
The highway runs along the Danube River and rewards motorists with incredible views of the Danube Valley landscape for more than 100 kilometers.
Unfortunately, it was raining and grey during my drive along the highway so I hope to return in the future for some better weather and to take full advantage of the amazing scenery.
Along the way there are a number of attractions and tourist sites where you can stop and explore. Of course there's the Golubac Fortress and this is one of the highlights of the journey.
There isn't much information in English online about what there is to see so keep an eye out when you're driving and pull over whenever you come across anything that looks interesting.
Driving in Serbia is relatively easy for the most part. It gets trickier in busy urban areas but in the rural parts of the country there's hardly anyone around and motorists tend to be more respectful.
I would definitely recommend going on a road trip in Serbia if you ever get the chance. It's a beautiful country that's still off the beaten path and full of amazing places and attractions!
Keep up with me online!

Questions about Serbia from Dominican Lady ..... Teaching in Serbia, Kragujevac, etc
Thanks for all the support on this question series. WOW!!! I have about 6 more emails that I just received from all over. I will get to them soon.
Here is this ladies email to me:
Greetings Charles,
I hope this message finds you well. I have a few questions for you since you've taught in foreign countries and this would be my first time seeking employment outside of the U.S. I am now finishing up my TESOL certification course and I have a BA in English Lit. I plan on going to Serbia, particularly Kragujevac, to teach English. One of my worries is not being able to find a job over there. How were you able to? Do I contact private schools? Would working in a public school be better? How is the pay? Upon arrival is it hard to find a place to live or is that something one does before leaving? How much should I consider saving before leaving? I'm sorry I've ambushed you with questions but there are hardly others out there who aspire to teach in Serbia. Almost everyone wants to go to Asia. I've chosen Serbia because I have a close friend there and it seems like such a beautiful place. Lastly, and I'm not so sure if you'll be able to answer this but I'll give it a shot, I was born in the Dominican Republic and have a Dominican passport. I am a resident of the U.S. Do you think I'll have to acquire a visa to enter Serbia or should I just go? Thank you in advance, I love your videos and I hope you keep doing what you love!
I don't mind if I get a video response. I'm simply happy to get a response. I do not mind if you use my name. I would like to clarify that I grew up in New York City, I speak English fluently but I never became a citizen. I was just wondering if lack of citizenship would be a deterrent in getting a job as an english teacher.
I met my friend via a forum and now we've been talking for a few years. I want to visit him to see if I like the country before I decide whether or not I want to live there. I definitely know I want to leave the United States, that's why I'm wondering if I could make a living teaching English and live comfortably.
Sincerely,
**Send an email about Dominican needing visa to - consular@serbiaembusa.org
** Apartments- Here is an online site for housing in Kragujevac and other cities. You can switch it to English at the top.

4K - Sokobanja
Link to new version with better colors and contrast :
Sokobanja (Сокобања in cyrillic) is a spa town located in the Zaječar District, eastern Serbia, surrounded by mountains Ozren, Devica, Janior, Rtanj and Bukovik. Interesting promenades in the forest above the town, but you'll need of higher car because some roads are not in very good condition. The town itself is nice in center, with park.
