Piran, Slovenia - 4K
Piran, Slovenia, 2017 - 4K
Piran is the historic town of the Slovenian coast near the Croatian border. The dominant feature of the city is the Church and the Great Square. Above the city, the old Town Walls are preserved. In the city you can visit the aquarium, cruise ships with glazed bottom around the city or take a stroll to the Tower and the town walls and enjoy the views.
Enjoy it ????

Piran, Slovenia. Slovenian Istria.Timelapse & hyperlapse video of Pirano, Slovenia.
Piran (Pirano) Slovenia. Slovenian Istria. Timelapse & hyperlapse video of Pirano.
Piran (Piran, or in the Italian manner of Pirano) is a small ancient town located on the Adriatic coast of Slovenia. The history of Piran is connected with the Roman Empire, and then with the Venetian Republic. In fact, until the 20th century it was part of Italy, and Italian is a second official language of the region.
On the main square of the city of Piran a monument to the famous composer and violinist Giuseppe Tartini is erected. Tartini was born here. It is interesting that the central square of Piran until the 19th century was the inner port of the city. Later this part of the port was covered and then the central square of the city appeared.
The main attraction of Piran is the narrow ancient streets. Despite the fact that there are no beaches in Piran, there are steps to the water, where you can go down and swim. Water in the sea and even in the port is crystal clear.
Among the places that must be visited, it is worth noting the walls of the old town with a magnificent view on the roofs of Piran. It is also worth going up to the church of St. George (Church of St George). It is on a hill with a great view on the city. By the way, below the church there is a small pebble beach, where you can comfortably sunbathe and swim.
Георгия (Church of St George).

Istria (Slovenia) Vacation Travel Video Guide
The Slovenian-Croatian peninsula of Istria is one of Europe‘s oldest settlement areas, the Pearl Of Adria with an eventful history and much multicultural flair; a rich interface between both Mediterranean and mediaeval cultures. In Koper, Istria’s economic centre and most important harbour city, the Old Town can be entered through the last remaining twelve gates of the city’s former defensive wall. In its heyday the city boomed with wine, oil, salt and fish and many merchants and craftsmen from Italy settled there and the Palazzo Belgramoni Tacco became the region‘s museum. The mediaeval town of Piran is located on a narrow promontory that juts out into Piran Bay like the bow of a ship. On a cliff above the old town is the Sanct George Church, and a bell tower on the town’s fortified walls provides a splendid view of the mainland, a maze of roof tops and the main square. Travelling further south, Poreć is picturesquely situated on a peninsula and City Hall reveals much of its history. In 1267, Poreć, as Istria’s first city, was affiliated to the Serenissima and palaces, squares and religious buildings were constructed. In the fertile countryside lies yet another Istrian gem, Hum, the ‘smallest town in the world’ with its well-preserved gate, cobblestones and single lane. Portorož is the only real resort on the Slovenian Riviera with several hotels lining its waterfront and since the Danube Monarchy it has been a fashionable meeting place of the elite of Central Europe. Istria is a beauty with many faces, a rediscovered Adria dream and an almost forgotten paradise.

I moved along the coastal path. One bird, another narrow alleyway. The ups and downs are repeated, but there is no time to be bored with the old mood. Most of the buildings built in the 15th century, the people here are kept and maintained rather than rebuilt and rebuilt. Piran is a coastal city in Slovenia with a long history. Piran's long name comes from the Greek word pyros, which symbolizes fire. The reason I was a 'pyros' was because I saw a big fire in Piran's lighthouse when I saw it from the sea. Not only that, but Piran is also famous for his music. Slovenian representative composer Tartini is from Piran and his statue is in the central plaza of Piran. The reason why Piran was able to preserve its medieval status is that it values the cultural heritage highly . Tartini Square is a place where you can see the past of Piran at a glance. It is popular as a field trip for students. Built in the Gothic style under the dominance of the Venetian Principality, the city hall is once again restored by the Habsburg family. This led to the construction of a Renaissance column on a red roof without a dome. This place was dominated by Venetians for 500 years from 1300 to 1800. There is a huge salt mine in Piran Port. The Venetians bought salt here and traded. You can still see Piran's salt being sold in a small shop. The musician Giuseppe Tartini is the person who informed Europeans of the pesky. One day in 1713, he made a deal with the devil in his dream and created the famous song Sonata of the Devil. Even so far, the violin playing 'Devil's Trill' is receiving the highest praise. And in 1896 his statue was built in the center of the town, and the name of the square became Tartini. Small but beautiful medieval European port city, Piran. Beyond the red roof where the blue sea creates fantasy. Cultural heritage combined with the landscape will continue to promote the name of Piran through preservation. I've been to Piran for the first time. No, I've seen it many times. Why do you come often? It's a really nice place. It's not far from the capital. I come to enjoy the sea. The architecture is also great. The starting point of my trip to Slovenia was so bad that I was able to build up a happy and satisfying memory.

So, this is basically the part in which I finish with the Slovenian coast. If you haven't already, do watch the rest of the movies in the series so you can better compare.
After Portorož and Piran and a that horrible climb, I finally reach Izola. A very different place. There's nothing fancy like in Portorož and it certainly doesn't have Piran's charm and beauty. However, Izola probably has the longest coastline, with a longish promenade (two parts) and while it doesn't seem to excel in anything in particular it is my overall winner for just _living_ on the Slovenian coast.
Koper is still Slovenia's port and even with all the nice things done with the city it's really not a place where you'd want to live if you love sea and swimming. The old town is huge and… ok but feels a bit... empty, nowhere near full of life like in Piran or those coastal towns in Croatia's part of the Istria peninsula. Although, it does seem like a very nice place to live. with seemingly nice schools (but also with a football stadium ruining everything).
Still, there's at least one important reason you'll want to move between Izola and Koper all day, every day. A brilliant, brilliant walk/bike path connecting them. Finally, someone is converting streets into paths and with all bike unfriendliness (no kiosks, no drinking fountains, no cold drinks), that path is a step in the right direction. Especially when paired with that cooling… chamber in Koper's Interspar supermarket.
But, for more on that and everything else… ;)
Ptuj, the oldest town in Slovenia
Ptuj is the oldest town in Slovenia and its rich history classifies among the jewels of the old European cities, such as old towns like Ptuj there are not much of them in Europe. The town lies in the scenic landscape between Slovenske gorice and Haloze as well as the valley of the river Drava and the plains of Ptuj, where the Pannonian and the alpine world intersects.

Visit Ljubljana, the capital city of Slovenia, and explore the places in its surroundings.
Besides having everything that all the other modern capitals have, Ljubljana succeeded in maintaining the relaxed atmosphere of a small city. This picturesque and very vibrant city is full of surprises. The region that besides Ljubljana comprises 25 other municipalities is noted for its traditional hospitality, diverse nature, nice towns, castles, quality traditional restaurants and village churches with their rich artistic legacy.
The Central Slovenia is the place where the alpine and karst landscapes meet. Thus, various unique natural and cultural particularities were created. Some of these are the Ljubljana Marshes, an area of wetlands and peat bogs known for its prehistoric pile dwellers and for its rare animal and vegetal species, the high mountain plateau Velika planina situated in the Kamnik Alps, noted for its ski centre and for being the oldest dairy herdsmen’s settlement in Europe, interesting subterranean caves, karstic fields and the mysterious forests of the Polhov Gradec and Posavje hills that abound with tourist farms.
You will definitely not be bored. The various cultural events are marked by the richness of the tradition as well as by the modern creativity. Forests, rivers and lakes offer great possibilities of an active holiday in the open air. You can choose between hiking, cycling, exploring the nature, hunting, fishing and during the winter, also between skiing and cross-country skiing. There are also some well-maintained golf courses.
Ljubljana and the Central Slovenia region are a perfect destination for relaxed and active holidays.

Each time one looks at Piran from a distance or from the air, one is overcome by feeling of surprise. Loved by the eyes of the people and by the eye of the camera, its image is known all over the world. When you visit Piran, you should take a closer look at its architecture, influenced by the Venetian Republic, which left its mark on most Istrian towns. Throughout time, Piran maintained the clustered medieval structure narrow winding streets, houses huddled close together, rising in cascades, the contact with the sea, numerous squares and churches. Tartini Square is the gem found in the very centre of Piran. It was named after the famous violinist and composer Giuseppe Tartini, who made the town world-famous. His statue is located in the centre of the square. The city is surrounded by a circular wall. Piran is a member of the European Walled Cities Association. The city of Piran is a national historical monument. People earn their living mainly by tourism. Numerous events take place all year round in the open and in magnificent buildings named after famous people from Piran. The Church of. St. George, the patron saint of Piran, rises above the town. From its lookout tower you have a wonderful view of Piran and its surroundings and all the way across the sea to the Croatian and Italian Coast. Two hotels, a youth hostel, a number of private rooms, churches, galleries, museums and Piran Aquarium invite you to come and see for yourself.

Portorož /Piran impressions Christmas 2018
Portorož is a district of the municipality Piran on the Slovenian Adriatic coast. Lots of spas offer therapeutic treatments based on mud and brine from nearby salt pans. The central sandy beach of Portorož is wide and has wooden piers. The Church of St. Bernard on a hill is a former monastery from the 15th century. To Piran leads a promenade next to the sea beach.
Piran is known for its long pier and its Venetian architecture. On the Tartini Square is the Gothic red Venetian house and the Tartini house with frescoes. The 19th-century town hall has a stone lion, a symbol of the former Republic of Venice. The nearby St. George's Cathedral houses 17th-century paintings and marble altars.
