Episode 15: We are now staring our Journey to the Unknowns of the Ladakh. Starting from Hanle, we will go towards Tso Moriri via Loma & Nyoma. This Route is Extremely Remote & extremely difficult. It requires a lot of patience, guts & needs a Skilled rider but it will take us to a place we cannot Fathom i.e tso Moriri. The level is going to go up from here. Fasten your seat belts because the second half of our Ladakh Trip is going to be the greatest adventure one can take, so hop on with us on this Amazing adventure which is going to take a Complete turn from now. The trips Starts Now.
Tso Moriri or Lake Moriri or Mountain Lake, is a lake in the Ladakhi part of the Changthang Plateau in Jammu and Kashmir in Northern India. The lake and surrounding area are protected as the Tso Moriri Wetland Conservation Reserve.
The lake is at an altitude of 4,522 m (14,836 ft). It is the largest of the high altitude lakes entirely within India and entirely within Ladakh in this Trans-Himalayan biogeographic region. It is about 16 miles (26 km) north to south in length and two to three miles (3 to 5 km) wide. The lake has no outlet at present and the water is brackish though not very perceptible to taste.
The lake is fed by springs and snow-melt from the adjacent mountains. Most water enters the lake in two major stream systems, one entering the lake from the north, the other from the southwest. Both stream systems include extensive marshes where they enter the lake. It formerly had an outlet to the south, but this has become blocked and the lake has become a endorheic lake. The lake is oligotrophic in nature, and its waters are alkaline.
Accessibility to the lake is largely limited to summer season, though Karzok on the northwest shore and the military facilities on the eastern shores have year-round habitation.
A pilgrimage for every rider. Ladakh is a destination that every traveler has on its list. The difficult roads, getting stuck in Manali traffic for hours, standing hours in the que to pass Khardungla, waiting in line for that one mandatory picture on every pass on the land of high passes and many more memories that a traveler to ladakh carries with him. Bikers eagerly wait for the news of leh manali highway getting open every year. The craze of going ladakh cannot be seized by one and every year more and more tourist check off Ladakh from their bucket list to visit back again. We being our traveler self witnessed all this and carried all the memories in our heart and came back with a promise to show you Ladakh like never before. The series is going to be epic. So gear up everyone because we have arrived with the dream ride,
THE LAND OF HIGH PASSES.
Route: Delhi - Srinagar - Kargil - Leh - Manali - Delhi.
Ladakh (land of high passes) is a region in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir that currently extends from the Siachen Glacier in the Karakoram range to the main Great Himalayas to the south, inhabited by people of Indo-Aryan and Tibetan descent. It is one of the most sparsely populated regions in Jammu and Kashmir and its culture and history are closely related to that of Tibet. Ladakh is renowned for its remote mountain beauty and culture.
The largest town in Ladakh is Leh, followed by Kargil. The government of Jammu and Kashmir created a separate administrative division from Kashmir division with headquarters on rotational basis 6month(summer) in kargil and 6month in leh(winter) Tibetan Buddhists (39.7%) and Hindus (12.1%) collectively represent the majority of the population while a plurality of Ladakhis (46.4%) are Muslims (mainly Shia).

Camping & Photography at Tsomoriri | Winter in Ladakh | Episode #5
Tsomoriri in Winters is always full of adventure and excitement. I encountered my first blizzard when camping at the lake back in 2015. This year was much tamer than my previous visit, but it was still not without excitement.

HANLE to TSO MORIRI : Ladakh | Custom Jawa 42 SCRAMBLER
#CustomBike #Jawa #Ladakh
Some of you spotted the customised Jawa 42 Scrambler in the previous videos and wanted a closer look. Well, I did better and rode the motorcycle for one day during our ride through Ladakh on the Jawa motorcycles. This bike, customised by Bombay Custom Works is quite a looker and makes for a fun machine to ride off-road, especially in a place like Ladakh. Watch the video and see for yourself.

Water crossing on Road from Pangong Tso to Tso Moriri
The Road from Pangong Tso to Tso Moriri
After riding 60km in wilderness and 60km along India-China border, we finally got a glimpse of good road but at the same time were greeted by Mighty and Overflowing Indus River. The Road was completely submerged leaving no boundary between the river and the road, leaving us with confusion and despair. After 15min a J&K Roadways bus came as a saviour and showed us the exact path to cross the water crossing. Finally we were able to cross the stretch while powerful Tata 207 failed to cross.

Climbing Mentok Kangri (6262 m) and Trekking Rumtse to Tso Moriri - Ladakh, India
As part of our trip to Ladakh, India Clay and I head out on a 10 Day trek from Rumste to Tso Moriri, with a grand finale of a climb up Mentok Kangri at 6262 m. I finished my climb at the place where our guide said was the top (and according to our research, the place where most people are brought), and Clay went up to Mentok I at 6262 m.
This time, we brought along a whole entourage including a mountaineering guide, a cook, a poney man, and five ponies. We even had a toilet tent! Wild East Adventures organized our trip, and we'd definitely recommend them. Their website isn't working, but that doesn't matter because we highly recommend planning a trip like this once you get to Ladakh. It will take them a few days to get things organized, but you can shop around and get a feel for who is honest.
The trek crossed the Chanthang Plateau, part of the Tibetan Plateau. The Changpa people are a seminomadic Tibetan people. They herd sheep, pashmina goats (used to make the famous pashmina shawls), yaks, donkeys, and ponies.
The most common wildlife (by far) that we spotted was the kiang, or wild ass. One of the ponies on our team was half kiang.

Pangong Tso and Tso Moriri Lake Drone Video
Drone Video of two big lakes of Ladakh region of Jammu & Kashmir. Both the lakes are easily accessible from Leh city and provide a breath taking view. Best view of the lake comes in afternoon when sun shines at its peak and the water looks extremely blue.
Drone used: DJI Phantom 3 Advance.

Lake Tso moriri - Ladakh - India - Jk
The pristine waters of the Tso moriri lake. The water is so clear that you and see through it till the lake bottom at places. It's an amazing blue colour that it reflects. On days when the wind speed is less, you can actually get a mirror image of the sky on the water. The day we were there was a bit windy, hence we didn't get the mirror images. This video was shot in late September 2018. Usually the tourists are less during that time since the season starts to close and the snow starts falling on the peaks. It's a beautiful time of the year to visit Tso Moriri. It's a pretty high altitude lake, higher than Pangong Tso. It's far more beautiful though.
