Tubbataha Reef - Palawan, Philippines - April 2017
We had the opportunity to dive Tubbataha Reef, the crown jewel of Philippines Scuba Diving. I must say that we had an exceptional week aboard the M/Y Vasco (now called the Resolute). We had fantastic weather and even better diving. We saw just about everything Tubbataha has to offer. Special thanks to the crew of the Vasco/Resolute and to all the new friends we met on board. Thanks also to Dino and Nicolai from Let's Dive Puerto Princesa for some cool dives in Puerto Princesa prior to boarding the live aboard.
All underwater footage was shot with two (2) Canon G7X cameras in Fantasea Line housings with interchangeable wet macro and wide angle lens attachments.

PUERTO PRINCESA PHILIPPINES SCUBA DIVING (MARIS ROCK) | 11-10-2017
On the 11th of October 2017, I decided to check out the Puerto Princesa Philippines scuba diving scene at dive site MARIS ROCK (Palawan Philippines.)
I did this dive after a short surface interval from a previous dive at CROSSING (Palawan)
The dive was nice but it wasn't as active with underwater life as I was hoping for.
Let me know if you have been diving here in the comments below.

Tubbataha Reef, Palawan, Philippines
In the Sulu Sea, Philippines – at the geographic center of world marine biodiversity – lies an underwater nature reserve that is considered both a mecca for scuba divers and a model for coral reef conservation.
Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park is a 97,030-hectare Marine Protected Area (MPA) in Palawan, the westernmost Philippine province. It is located 150km southeast of Puerto Princesa City, at the heart of the Coral Triangle, the global centre of marine biodiversity.
Tubbataha is composed of two huge coral atolls – the north atoll and the south atoll – and the Jessie Beazley Reef, a smaller coral structure about 20 kilometres north of the atolls.

Tubbataha reef, the best Diving of the Philippines !
Tubbataha reef is the best diving location of the Philippines and among the TOP 10 in the world !
all the information on my blog :
Tubbataha Reef Diving via Expedition Fleet Oceanic Explorer
Tubbataha Reef diving is a truly unique experience. Rated among world's top ten dives, this UNESCO World Heritage site features vivid colors, variety of unspoiled corals and abundance of marine life. Diving on this twin atol ranges from shallow coral gardens to the immense vertical walls, splendid night dives and multiple wreck sites. On the other hand, I must admit that even here, a lot of damage to the corals could be seen and planning of diving on the liveaboard trips could potentially be improved from the part of the Expedition Fleet operator. For a detailed video review of the ship (Oceanic Explorer) and the whole liveabord diving trip, please check out my video review here:

Tubbataha Reef - Philippines

The Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park (Filipino: Bahurang Tubbataha) is a protected area of the Philippines located in the middle of Sulu Sea. The marine and bird sanctuary consists of two huge atolls (named the North Atoll and South Atoll) and the smaller Jessie Beazley Reef covering a total area of 97,030 hectares (239,800 acres; 374.6 sq mi). It is located 150 kilometres (93 mi) southeast of Puerto Princesa City, the capital of Palawan province.[2] The uninhabited islands and reefs are part of the island municipality of Cagayancillo, Palawan, located roughly 130 kilometres (81 mi) to the northeast of the reef.[2]
In December 1993, the UNESCO declared the Tubbataha Reefs National Park as a World Heritage Site as a unique example of an atoll reef with a very high density of marine species; the North Islet serving as a nesting site for birds and marine turtles. The site is an excellent example of a pristine coral reef with a spectacular 100-m perpendicular wall, extensive lagoons and two coral islands.[3] In 1999, Ramsar listed Tubbataha as one of the Wetlands of International Importance.[4] In 2008, the reef was nominated at the New 7 Wonders of Nature.[5]
Tubbataha Reef
A short clip of our trip on the Philippine Siren to Tubbataha Reef in April 2017. Tubbataha is a remote reef off the coast of Puerto Princesa in the Philippines and only accessible during three month of the year.
We had a great time with lots of sharks, friendly whale sharks and turtles - and a great bunch of co-divers.

2 Days In Puerto Princesa, The Philippines. South East Asia Tour (9)
Our arrival in Puerto Princesa meant our Spring Festival vacation was coming to an end. Puerto Princesa was more developed than El Nido and had better roads, a greater variety of food, nicer hotels with better value and reliable wifi throughout the city.
Most of the main attractions were outside of Puerto Princesa, including the Underground River and the Honda Bay Tour. We found the Underground river a frustrating experience as we spent about 3 hours in various queues waiting to enter the caves. If you plan to visit the underground river you should expect queues. You should also allow yourself a few days to see it as the attraction will close if there is bad weather.
The Honda Bay tour was great as we were given plenty of time at each stop to enjoy and explore each island. The crocodile farm was a little bit sad and along with the butterfly garden probably worth skipping if your time is limited. The food at the City Baywalk was great and highly recommended if you like barbeque and fresh seafood.
If you are a Scuba Diver and have a larger budget it is worth checking out the Tubbataha Reef which is accessible from Puerto Princesa and considered one of the diving sites in the world.
Itinerary: Day 1- Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park (The Underground River), Day 2- Honda Bay Tour (Pambato Reef, Luli Island, Cowrie Island), Crocodile Farm and Nature Park, Butterfly Garden (and tribal village), City Baywalk.
