Russian Steel .308 Shootout - Wolf vs Tula
We ran four types of Russian steel .308 through the Ruger Precision Rifle, shooting 5 shot groups at 100 yards:
- Wolf 140 grain Soft Point
- Wolf 145 grain FMJ
- Tula 150 grain FMJ
- Tula 165 grain Soft Point
We first shot a group of Federal Gold Medal Match 175 grain as a control to show what the rifle can do. No doubt it could do even better with a better shooter.
Knight Life: Would-be heroes test their strength in Tula Battles
Knights in shining armor may be a thing of the past in some places -- but not in Russia. Around 150 warriors gather every year for a tournament known as the Tula Battles -- to clash for the honor of being called the strongest and bravest. Tremendous strength, honor and passion for the cause -- these are the qualities that define a medieval knight. But even these days, there are men who come together in a battle in their quest for victory and glory. They put on their armor -- which can weigh up to 40 kilos -- and charge the battlefield.

More Details Revealed About Russia's New Aircraft Carrier Project.
Russia's Far Eastern Zvezda shipyard with no limits on the tonnage of civilian maritime vessels and warships can be used for work on the new aircraft carrier, according to the Russian Defense Ministry.
MOSCOW — Russia's new aircraft carrier might be built at Russia's Far Eastern Zvezda shipyard, which will be ready by 2020, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin said Tuesday.
We no longer have any limitations on the tonnage of civilian maritime vessels and warships that we can construct there [at Zvezda shipyard]… If we attempt to build the military's favorite ship, I mean, an aircraft carrier, then we can build it there [at the shipyard] as well, Rogozin said.
At the same time, the deputy prime minister indicated that the site for the new aircraft carrier's construction would be decided upon by the Russian Defense Ministry.
SOVIET GROUND-BASED LASER The Soviet Strategic Defense Program involved extensive research on advanced technologies in the 1980s. The USSR already had ground-based lasers, conceptually illustrated here, capable of interfering with some US satellites.
Rogozin also indicated that the dry dock would be 114 meters (374 feet) wide and would accommodate the construction of tankers with tonnages of up to 350,000 tons and of Arctic gas carriers which will have tonnages of up to 250,000 tons.
As for today, the Russian Navy's only aircraft carrier is the Admiral Kuznetsov. The modernization of the aircraft carrier is scheduled for 2018. As for Russia's new aircraft carrier, its construction is planned to begin by 2025, when the state rearmament program terminates.

Kremlin, Moscow: Reception in honour of graduates of military academies
#Politics, #Russia: Reception in honour of graduates of military academies
June 25, 2015 The Kremlin, Moscow.
A reception in honour of graduates of military academies was held at the Kremlin. This year graduates from the Defence Ministry’s academies were joined at the event by graduates from the academies run by the Interior Ministry, Emergency Situations Ministry, Federal Security Service, and Federal Guard Service, and, for the first time, from institutions run by the Justice Ministry.
(FULL SPEECH/English Translation)
President of Russia Vladimir Putin: Comrade officers, friends,
I am happy to welcome you here and congratulate you on successfully completing your studies.
By tradition, we host a reception at the Kremlin in honour of top graduates of military academies, institutions and universities. Degrees with distinction are a fair reward for all the years of persistent studies, top grades in main disciplines and excellent results you have achieved in military and special training.
I am sure that the knowledge and skills you have gained will allow you to become real commanders and thus reinforce our officer corps and reliably protect Russia from any external threat.
The year of your graduation is a significant one – the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. Our army defended the Fatherland and made a decisive contribution to Europe’s liberation. These great victorious traditions should be preserved and developed by today’s generation of the Russian army officers and soldiers. I am confident that you will be worthy successors to the military glory of your predecessors – and like them, you will faithfully serve Russia and your people.
Comrades, Russia is a nation that is open to the world, a country that advocates strengthening cooperation and partnership with everyone who is ready to do so. We do not have – and cannot have – any aggressive plans. We don’t threaten anyone and we try to resolve all conflicts by political means only, with respect for international law and the interests of other nations.
At the same time, we see that there are many challenges and risks in today’s world, including in the immediate vicinity of our borders. So a powerful army equipped with modern arms is a guarantee of Russia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, a guarantee of peace and calm for millions of our citizens. I am confident that you understand this well. So we will consistently continue to develop the Armed Forces and complete the structural reforms we have started in recent years, which will make the military management system and decision-making process more effective.
I will note that today, we are actively strengthening our strategic nuclear forces and Aerospace Defence units, and we have had a significant increase in the combat potential of nearly all types and kinds of troops. In accordance with the State Armament Programme, military arsenals are replenished with the latest arms and military equipment. And these are not just armoured vehicles, aircraft, submarines and ships. We have a serious increase in the supply of high-precision weapons, combat robots and drones. Many of these modern weapons were recently presented at the Army 2015 forum.
We have dramatically increased the intensity of our combat training. Snap inspections have been widespread. This year, we carried out paratrooper landings in the New Siberian Islands and in the eastern Arctic maritime zone. For the first time in global practice, we conducted a search and rescue operation with a landing on the Barneo ice station.
We hope that you will get actively involved in the work to improve the Armed Forces and will do everything necessary to effectively master the newest arms and equipment, as well as ensure high-quality personnel training.
I ask you to pay special attention to this issue. Your task is not only to teach military basics to your subordinates. It is important to educate them in the spirit of true military discipline, patriotism, and loyalty to their duty. An army where such soldiers and officers serve is invincible.
...
....
Friends, I am confident that you will always preserve the dignity of the defender of the Fatherland, augmenting Russia’s best military traditions and confirming the words of Alexander Suvorov through your professionalism and achievements: “An officer’s life and valour is about victory.”
I want to once again congratulate you and all 2015 graduates of military academies. I wish you success in your service, happiness and prosperity to you and your families.
Allow me to propose a toast. To Russian officers! To the legendary Russian military traditions! To your great Fatherland!
Congratulations.

Police crack down on anti-Putin protesters
Russian riot police detain several opposition leaders to stop them from taking part in a Moscow rally.
Russian riot police have detained about 40 protesters and several opposition leaders to stop them from taking part in a banned rally against President Vladimir Putin in front of the former KGB security police's headquarters in Moscow.
Police moved in lines to channel participants in the rally toward a nearby metro station and cleared the Lubyanka Square where the rally had taken place on Saturday.
Leftist Sergei Udaltsov and anti-corruption blogger Alexei Navalny were detained in the square, where witnesses said about 3,000 people gathered, and protest leaders Ilya Yashin and Ksenia Sobchak were detained on their way.
Some of the arrested appeared to include journalists. One man shouted 'I can show you my press card!' as he was dragged toward a police van.
The rally was intended to celebrate the first anniversary of demonstrations that grew into the biggest protests against Putin since he rose to power 13 years ago, but police were out in force to keep order and helicopters buzzed overhead.
Despite the risk of arrest, protesters stood clapping. Some chanted Free political prisoners and Shame.
Moscow city authorities refused to authorise the protest and police in helmets and flak jackets told people to leave as they gathered for the rally despite the freezing cold.
Anti-corruption protests
The protests began a year ago over suspicions that Putin's United Russia party benefited from widespread vote-rigging when it won a parliamentary election. Opponents say Putin's domination of Russia is dooming the country to economic and political stagnation at a time when it needs reform.
The protests reached their peak at the turn of the year but started to wane after Putin won nearly two-thirds of votes in the presidential election in March, enabling him to return for his third presidential term after four years as prime minister.
The demonstrations accelerated the birth of a civil society two decades after the collapse of the Soviet Union, but opposition leaders accuse Putin of clamping down on dissent and freedom of expression since he began his new presidential term in May.
Laws passed since May broaden the definition of treason, increase the punishment for protesters who step out of line, and tighten control over the Internet and on campaign and lobby groups that receive foreign funding.
Several opposition leaders, including Navalny, face criminal charges that they say are politically motivated and intended to intimidate them into giving up their opposition activities.
Putin, 60, denies any crackdown. He maintains a grip on state media and has retained support in the industrial and provincial areas that are his traditional power base.

EXTREME TECHNOLOGY Russian Military Pantsir-S1 Air Defense System downs all flying objects
A great extreme technology video of the Russian Military Pantsir-S1 air defense system. SUPPORT SOUTH FRONT: PayPal: southfront@list.ru, or via:
Pantsir-S1 (Russian: Панцирь-С1, NATO reporting name SA-22 Greyhound) is a combined short to medium range surface-to-air missile and anti-aircraft artillery weapon system produced by KBP of Tula, Russia. The system is a further development of 2K22 Tunguska (NATO reporting name: SA-19/SA-N-11) and represents the latest air defence technology by using phased array radars for both target acquisition and tracking.
The Pantsir-S1 was designed to provide point air defence of military/industrial/administrative installations against aircraft, helicopters, precision munitions, cruise missiles and UAVs and to provide additional protection to air defence units from enemy air attacks employing precision munitions especially at the low to extremely low ranges.[4][5]
Design[edit]
The first finished version was completed in 1995 with the 1L36 radar, later was designed another.[6] It is a short to medium range ground based air defence system, wheeled, tracked or stationary with two to three operators. Its air defense consists of automatic anti-aircraft guns and surface-to-air missiles with radar or optical target-tracking and radio-command guidance.
Its purpose is the protection of civil and military point and area targets, for motorised or mechanised troops up to regimental size or as defensive asset of higher ranking air defence systems like S-300/S-400. The system has capability for anti-munitions missions. It can hit targets on the waterline/above-water.[7] It can operate in a fully automatic mode.[8] It has the ability to work in a completely passive mode. The probability of hitting a target for 1 rocket is not less than 0.7 with a reaction time of 4–6 seconds. It can fire missiles and gun armament while in motion.[9] For its main radar station, early detection in height may be between 0-60° or 26-82° depending on the mode.[10] The system has claimed significant advantages over other systems, such as Crotale NG (France), Roland-3 (France + USA), Rapier 2000 (UK), SeaRAM (Germany + USA). This is not confirmed by comparative testing, but clearly follows from declared limit of possibilities of systems (2010).[11][12] Since 2013, there is a variant with two radar stations for early detection * standing back to back *.[13] The system has a modular structure which enables a fast and easy replacement of any part.
[14] After receiving target coordinates (from any source) it may defeat the target (using all the radar except the early detection radar) within a range from -5 to +85 (82[15]) degrees (vertical).[16] The interval between missile launches is 1-1.5 seconds (a world record for analogue systems).[17]

Pantsir-S1 carries up to twelve export designated 57E6 or 57E6-E two-stage solid fuel radio-command-guided surface-to-air missiles in sealed ready-to-launch containers. Missiles are arranged into two six-tube groups on the turret. The missile has a bicalibre body in tandem configuration. The first stage is a booster, providing rapid acceleration within the first 2 seconds of flight, after which it is separated from the sustainer-stage. The sustainer is the highly agile part of the missile and contains the high explosive multiple continuous rod and fragmentation warhead, contact and proximity fuses as also radio transponder and laser responder to be localised for guidance. The missile is not fitted with seeker to keep target engagement costs low. Instead high-precision target and missile tracking is provided via the system's multiband sensor system and guidance data is submitted via radio link for up to four missiles in flight. Missiles can be fired at up to four targets, but more often in salvos of two missiles at one target. They are believed to have a hit probability of 70–95% and have a 15-year storage lifetime in its sealed containers. Pantsir-S1 combat vehicles can fire missiles on the move.
Warhead weight 20 kg (44 lb)(5.5 kg (12 lb) explosive + 2,000 14.5 g fragments and rods).[39][37]
