Il quinto giorno siamo andati a visitare il Tempio Lempuyang ..con la famosa porta del Paradiso...dove non potevamo evitare la foto di rito!!! Nonostante fossimo arrivati al mattino presto la fila è stata lunga!!!! Bellissima la vista sul Vulcano Agung avendo avuto la fortuna di trovare una stupenda giornata. Il pomeriggio l'abbiamo dedicato alla snorkeling nella famosa Tulamben Beach, dove si trova il relitto della Liberty varata il 19 giugno 1918, l’USAT Liberty era una nave da carico che trasportava merci varie e animali durante l’ultimo anno della prima guerra mondiale. Nel gennaio 1942, ancora in servizio, la Liberty era in rotta dall’Australia alle Filippine quando fu silurato dal sommergibile giapponese.

USAT LIBERTY SHIPWRECK IN TULAMBEN BALI
The Tulamben USAT Liberty Shipwreck is some of best scuba diving in Bali Indonesia. It's quite famous actually, the diving here is very unique. In very few places on this planet is there a wreck this big, or this close to the shore. The wreck acts as a pseudo coral reef, and attracts animals big and small to hide in it's crevices. The beautiful thing about the USAT Liberty wreck is that you can snorkel or free dive it. The bow is only a couple meters from the surface, and you can just walk in from the shore. Normally dive sites like this are far beneath the surface, way too deep for anything but scuba equipment.
It's a beautiful place, and totally worth checking out.

GIANT BUMPHEAD PARROTFISH at sunrise - Bali Tulamben
Part 3 of our month long trip to Indonesia during 2016.
This video shows us making our way along the northern coast of Bali to Tulamben where we spent a few days doing some more scuba diving.
We prefer not to use any organised tours and travel independently where possible. We usually have a solid plan on where to go but the itinerary is never fixed and we take it a day or so at a time.
Please keep in mind that when I shot the footage the plan was never to make a YouTube video but I figured that perhaps this is a good start to get into it.
Sometime towards the end of 2018 we plan to start travelling full-time and will thus be working towards regular uploads and would focus on providing more useful content to viewers on how to travel independently - as well as share our adventures! Hopefully by then our equipment will be a bit better - everything in this video was shot with compacts and a GoPro.
The story goes like this: Our travels (stretching well over 10 years) have been haphazardly documented thus far with some still only living on our old blog (which haven’t seen much use in a long time). Slowly we’ve moved to video but as yet most of our compilations was never made with public viewing in mind..
We hope to use this channel to dust off and bring some of our old travel videos to a wider audience over time. Thanks for joining us on our adventure!

Freediving Bali, USAT Libery Wreck in Tulamben. (USS Liberty)
USAT Liberty is convenient wreck dive, just meters away from the shore. The wreck starts at about 10m, with most over the wreckage between 10m-20m, and the deepest at 30m.
The wreck is sometimes incorrectly refereed to as USS Liberty, however this is not a navy vessel, but a US Army transport, hence the name is USAT Liberty.

Shipwreck U.S.A.T. Liberty Indonesia, Bali, Tulamben
USAT Liberty was a United States Army transport ship torpedoed by Japanese submarine I-166 in January 1942 and beached on the island of Bali. She had been built as a design 1037 ship for the United States Shipping Board during World War I and had served in the United States Navy during that conflict as animal transport USS Liberty (ID-3461). She was also notable as the first ship constructed at Federal Shipbuilding, Kearny, New Jersey. In 1963 a volcanic eruption moved the ship off the beach, and Liberty's wreck is now a popular dive site.

The 120m long wreck rests on a 90 degree angle with the deck facing the open sea and used to be an American supply ship.
Anchored off the coast of Lombok, the ship was hit by a Japanese torpedo during World War II. Miraculously nobody got hurt, but the damage turned the ship into a non-functioning and useless hull. The American Navy's plan to tow the ship to Singaraja harbour (north Bali) failed as the harbour was completely occupied, so the ship was intentionally stranded on the rocky beach of Tulamben, where it was unloaded.
In 1963 Mount Agung (the volcano which towers over Tulamben) erupted and the magma flow pressed the ship back into the sea where it presently rests at a depth of 3 to 29 metres. Since then, coral has coated the wreckage turning it into a new home for an extraordinary number of fish, coral and invertebrates. bump-head parrotfish, napoleon wrasse and barracuda are regularly spotted around the wreck.

A shore dive off the rocky beach of Tulamben Bali, Indonesia. I forgot to bring my housing for my camera so my old go-pro without the red lens i had to make do (apologize for the washed out colours). It was an easy dive with next to no current and the wreck was pretty impressive. Saw two big groupers fighting for territory and two pretty big green turtles.

Traveling from Lovina to Tulamben
Traveling from Lovina to Tulamben by car. We chose to go with a private car as it was only $6 more and we got to stop at the Beji Temple and Air Sante. We also stopped in Sinaraja to try to resuscitate my dead laptop but realized we will have to return to KUTA for that help.
Loved the tour and enjoying our trip in Bali. July 2012
