[4K] MUST VISIT: HOLY TRINITY CATHEDRAL | INSIDE GEORGIAN ORTHODOX CHURCH | TBILISI GEORGIA
Explore Holy Trinity Cathedral situated in the old Tbilisi, Georgia.
To Sameba or Holy Trinity Cathedral through Mestkhishvili street (Tbilisi, Georgia)
The road from the metro leads up to Trinity church (Tsminda Sameba). It is a hu-ge temple of the peak of the hill - a symbol of Georgian Resurrection, unity and immortality. It arises in the center of Tbilisi on the peak of the mountain, called after the name of a Bible prophet Elia. The height of the cathedral, which can hold 15 000 people, reaches 84 meters, its underground part is 18 meters deep. The place has been chosen so that the cathedral could hover over the entire city - on a high hill. The construction works began in 1995 (the most difficult times for the country) in honor of Lifegiving Trinity in Tbilisi. The cathedral has not been constructed completely yet. The walls are to be painted and some buildings are to be constructed yet. But every detail of its ornament, every feature in the construction plan is agreed upon with Patriarch. But his constant presence is felt not only in this. At the entrance of the cathedral one can see the image of the Virgin. This place is always crowded. This image as the other one - of Savior, which is in the opposite part of ico-nostasis, was painted by Patriarch himself. There are some other icons painted by Patriarch. These are, for example the images of archangels Michael and Gavriil. Besides the cathedral the complex under construction includes the church of Saint Ilia and the belfry. The bells for belfry were cast in Germany and by their sound row they correspond to the row of Georgian polyphony.
Sameba or Holy Trinity Cathedral ( Interior ) / თბილისის წმინდა სამების საკათედრო ტაძარი
The Holy Trinity Cathedral თბილისის წმინდა სამების საკათედრო ტაძარი of Tbilisi (Georgian: Tbilisis cminda samebis sakathedro tadzari) commonly known as Sameba (Georgian: სამება for Trinity) is the main Cathedral of the Georgian Orthodox Church located in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia. Constructed between 1995 and 2004, it is the third-tallest Eastern Orthodox cathedral in the world. Sameba is a synthesis of traditional styles dominating the Georgian church architecture at various stages in history and has some Byzantine undertones.
The Sameba Cathedral is erected on the Elia Hill, which rises above the left bank of the Kura River (Mtkvari) in the historic neighborhood of Avlabari in Old Tbilisi.
Designed in a traditional Georgian style but with an exaggerated vertical emphasis, and regarded as an eyesore by many and venerated by as many others,[6] the Sameba Cathedral has a cruciform plan with a dome over a crossing which rests on eight columns. At the same time, the parameters of the dome is independent from the apses, imparting a more monumental look to the dome and the church in general. The dome is surmounted by a 7.5 metre tall cross covered with gold.
The cathedral consists of nine chapels (chapels of the Archangels, John the Baptist, Saint Nino, Saint George, Saint Nicholas, the Twelve Apostles, and All Saints); five of them are situated in a large, underground compartment. The overall area of the cathedral, including its large narthex, is 5,000 square meters and the volume it occupies is 137 cubic meters. The interior of the church measures 56 metres by 44 metres, with an interior area of 2,380 square metres. The height of the cathedral from the ground to the top of the cross is 105,5 metres. The underground chapel occupies 35,550 cubic metres. The height is 13 metres.

Tbilisi Travel Guide - Georgia Amazing Atmosphere
Tbilisi (Georgian: თბილისი) is the capital and the largest city of Georgia, lying on the banks of the Kura River with a population of roughly 1.5 million inhabitants. Tbilisi is known for its distinctive architecture, which reflects the city's storied past and comprises an eclectic mix of Medieval, Neoclassical, Art Nouveau, Stalinist and Modernist structures. Present-day Tbilisi is one of the safest cities in Europe and frequently ranks among the most popular emerging destinations thanks to Georgia's growing tourism industry.
Tbilisi lies in the centre of eastern Georgia, in the foothills of the Trialeti mountain range. According to Georgian legends, it was founded in the 5th century by King Vakhtang Gorgasali who, while hunting, shot a pheasant which fell into a warm spring and was either boiled or healed. Either way, the king was inspired to found a city on the site, and the name of the city derives from the Georgian word tbili meaning warm.
Tbilisi has cool winters and warm summers. There is very little rain. It rains only 70 days per year. It is common to snow in Tbilisi in the beginning of the year. Most rain falls on the summer months. Summers in Tbilisi can get very hot, with the record high being 42°C, winters can get cold with the record low being -24.4°C.
Main transport inside and outside Tbilisi city is bus and minibus - marshrutka. Tbilisi has a two-line metro system. City buses are yellow or blue, and come in various sizes. The bus number and a description of the route are usually listed on signs in the bus windows, but only in Georgian. Tbilisi had a tram network, since 1883 starting from horse-driven trams and from 25 December 1904 electric tramway.
Historically, Tbilisi has been home to people of multiple cultural, ethnic, and religious backgrounds, though it is currently overwhelmingly Eastern Orthodox Christian. Its notable tourist destinations include cathedrals Sameba and Sioni, Freedom Square, Rustaveli Avenue and Agmashenebeli Avenue, medieval Narikala Fortress, the pseudo-Moorish Opera Theater, and the Georgian National Museum.
Beyond traditional attractions, Tbilisi has developed burgeoning nightclub culture which started to attract international media attention in the 2010s. The leading clubs such as Bassiani, Mtkvarze, Khidi, and Café Gallery have featured major international DJs as well as local performers.
Tbilisi has important landmarks and sightseeing locations. The Parliament and the government (State Chancellery) buildings of Georgia, as well as the Supreme Court of Georgia, are in Tbilisi. The city has important cultural landmarks such as the Georgian National Museum, Tbilisi State Conservatoire, Tbilisi Opera and Ballet Theatre, Shota Rustaveli State Academic Theatre, Marjanishvili State Academic Theatre, the Sameba Cathedral, the Vorontsov's Palace (also known as the Children's Palace today), many state museums, the National Public Library of the Parliament of Georgia, the National Bank of Georgia, Tbilisi Circus, The Bridge of Peace and other important institutions. During the Soviet times, Tbilisi continuously ranked in the top four cities in the Soviet Union for the number of museums. Out of the city's historic landmarks, the most notable are the Narikala fortress (4th–17th century), Anchiskhati Basilica (6th century, built up in the 16th century), Sioni Cathedral (8th century, later rebuilt), and Church of Metekhi.

Georgia last day - Boat ride and cable car ride in Tbilisi
It was our last day in Georgia. We decided to try out a cable car ride and boat ride before the day ended. Cable car tour gave a panoramic view of the entire city of Tbilisi. It was marvellous to watch the tall towers of churches and the rows of neatly arranged houses. The city looked splendid from above. A big fortress and botanical garden were the attractions that welcomed us on top.

If you are planning to visit Georgia and need help, you can contact my friend Lijo (+965 501 02992). We are soon planning a winter trip to Georgia and will be announced in less than 10 days.
Boat ride was also equally fascinating. A ride through the lake which was the lifeline of Tbilisi was an experience worth the money paid. I even got a chance to sit behind the steering wheels. What more could I ask for? As a fitting end to the trip, we visited the café which was once owned by my friend, Lijo. A Turkish sweet from the shop was what I last relished in Georgia.

Road trip: Kakheti wine house, Bodbe Monastery - Signage Georgia / vlog # 9
Bodbe Monastery;
The Monastery of St. Nino at Bodbe (Georgian: ბოდბის წმინდა ნინოს მონასტერი, bodbis ts’minda Ninos monasteri) is a Georgian Orthodox monastic complex and the seat of the Bishops of Bodbe located 2 km from the town of Sighnaghi, Kakheti, Georgia.
Originally built in the 9th century, it has been significantly remodeled, especially in the 17th century.
The monastery now functions as a nunnery and is one of the major pilgrimage sites in Georgia, due to its association with St. Nino, the 4th-century female evangelist of Georgians, whose relics are shrined there.
