Located 39 Kms before Munnar, the stunning Valara Waterfalls is located between Adimali and Neriamangalam on Munnar to Kochi highway, right after the famous Cheeyappara Waterfalls
Valara features a chain of waterfalls falling from a height of about 1000 feet and provides a magnificent view. These waterfalls are surrounded by lush, dense forests that are home to a variety of animals and birds. Located right next to highway this is a sightseeing option not to be missed when on the way to Munnar, especially during the monsoon period.

Valara (Malayalam: വാളറ) is located in between Neriamangalam on the eastern border of the Ernakulam District and Adimali of Kochi - Madurai National Highway (NH-49). It is in Idukki district, Kerala, at a distance of 14 km from Adimali. The main attraction of this place is Valara waterfalls. Which is in the Deviyar river, a small river originating from western ghats, passing through Adimali Grama Panchayath. It is considered as one of the major waterfalls in Kerala state. The Thottiyar Hydro Electric project, the upcoming project by Kerala State Electricity Board is very close to this waterfall.
Valara has chain of waterfalls surrounded by thick green forests. Cheeyappara Waterfall is nearby.
VALARA WATERFALLS IDUKKI MUNNAR
Valara waterfalls are located between Neriamangalam and Adimali around 15 km on the Kochi - Madurai Highway. Waterfalls can also be accessible from Munnar, around 42 km on Aluva-Munnar Rd. The main attraction of this place is Valara waterfalls. Which is in the Deviyar river, a small river originating from western ghats, passing through Adimali Grama Panchayath
Note:Best time to pay it a visit is from June to August.

Valara waterfalls are the best place to stop over while you travel from Kochi to Munnar. It comes just after Cheyyappara Waterfalls. Valara waterfall is not a picnic spot; and you can just watch the beautiful stream which is flowing from the top of the rock along with thick green forest.

Though the falls are visible from highway, it demands good amount of trekking to reach the bottom of the falls. The surrounding places of the Valara Falls are good for trekking. The falls offer spectacular views in monsoon and post-monsoon seasons.
This place is connected by buses running between Munnar and Kochi.
