Lavertezzo is a municipality in the Verzasca Valley. It belongs to the district of Locarno in the canton of Ticino in Switzerland.
The romantic village of Lavertezzo 545 m above sea level with its rustici is a good starting point to discover the original Valle Verzasca and its side valleys.
Lavertezzo is the most famous destination in the Verzasca Valley. Also worth seeing in Lavertezzo is the 18th century parish church of Madonna degli Angeli, the only baroque church in the valley.
The Valle Verzasca is a natural, even wild valley with steep slopes and countless waterfalls. Over bizarrely shaped, smoothly polished rocks in the narrow valley flows the clear, emerald waters of the river Verzasca.
The Ponte dei Salti, falsely referred as the Roman bridge, is the old double-arched stone bridge over the river Verzasca. In fact, the construction dates back to the two bold arches from the 17th century. The beautiful bridge is the starting point of several hiking trails, scenic walks through impressive and beautiful landscapes.

The MOST INTERESTING VALLEY in Switzerland – Valle VERZASCA / Lavertezzo – FULL TRAVEL GUIDE
Most people who travel to Switzerland would first consider places like Zürich, Luzern, Bern, Geneva, Zermatt or Interlaken. However, there is so much more to discover in Switzerland; especially in the Italian speaking Part in the Canton of TICINO.
Go for a swim in the clearest waters in the cool creek near Lavertezzo. Immerse yourself in pure mineral water! At times, Lavertezzo can be packed; mostly during July and early August, while in any other months it is visibly less crowded. The other way to avoid mass tourism is to come here early in the morning 8 or 9am. Although a true paradise, the beauty of the waters don’t reveal the slumbering dangers: The Verzasca Valley attracts many, many people every year; everyone is happy to take a lot of selfies/videos or doing some fantastic stunts. Many accidents happen and have happened; people have even died here – that’s why it is very important to follow the rules:
- Do NOT jump into shallow waters
- Enter the water SLOWLY!
- Do NOT swim right after having eaten
- Do not excessively dip your head underwater (long lasting brainfreeze; hypothermia)
- Do NOT stay TOO LONG in the water risk of hypothermia is VERY HIGH!
- Be aware of slippery rocks
- Mind other people around you when planning a jump
Besides the creek, the village of LAVERTEZZO is very much worth to visit. Go to see the beautiful stone houses and the baroque church. Right across the bridge is the OSTERIA VITTORIA, a restaurant that serves authentic local Italian Swiss (ticinese) cuisine. Give a try to Formagini, Mozzarella, crude ham, Risotto or Luganighetti; and don’t forget to have a bocalino of red wine!
Besides visiting Lavertezzo there are also other interesting places that you may want to see:
- Bivio, which is further up the valley; usually there are much less people than in Lavertezzo
- Corippo, a beautiful classic ticinese village, at an elevated site of the valley; it is close to San Bartolomeo
- The Verzasca dam, where James Bond Goldeneye was recorded in 1994. It is one of the most famous bungee jumping locations. A jump costs around 250 CHF, while subsequent jumps will be at much cheaper rates

Corippo is a municipality in the district of Locarno in the canton of Ticino in Switzerland.
With a population of just 13, as of December 2014, it is the smallest municipality in Switzerland. Despite this, it possesses the trappings of communities many times its size: an official website (corippo.ch), its own coat of arms, a village church, a restaurant, and a mayor who leads a town council consisting of three local citizens.

The romantic village of Lavertezzo (545 metres) with its stone buildings is a good starting point for exploring the rural and unspoilt Valle Verzasca. The most famous bathing / swimming spot in Verzasca is next to the famous bridge Ponte dei Salti that crosses the River Verzasca. The turquoise water is always cold and refreshing.
The emerald-hued Verzasca River flows over smoothly polished rock through the narrow valley and has many natural rock pools and places to bathe.
The Verzasca dam is 220 metres high by 380 metres in length, and the fourth highest in Switzerland after those of Luzzone (in Ticino), Mauvoisin and Grande Dixence (Canton Valais).

Of the wonderfully beautiful valleys of the Ticino, the Verzasca valley is probably the most fascinating - for both romantics and adventure fans.
The magical jade green waters of the Verzasca river flow peacefully over smooth polished rocks, passing under the picturesque double arches of the Ponte dei Salti in Lavertezzo.
Follow the river down the valley and you will find wonderful worn rock shapes and natural jacuzzis, and the trail to Brione is home to 17 works of art. Don't resist it - jump in! You will be hard pressed to find a more romantically beautiful place to do so.
The Verzasca dam on the Lago di Vogorno at the entrance to the valley is where James Bond once jumped 220m attached to no more than a rubber rope.
For once, copying can be recommended! The 007 Bungee Jump- lasts exactly 71/2 seconds - take longer to enjoy your well-earned dip in Lake Maggiore.

Hi everyone! Today we are in the Valle Verzasca in the Canton of Ticino, Switzerland.
Emerald-colored waters of the Verzasca river flow through this magnificent valley surrounded by Alps. Follow the river down the valley and you will find wonderful worn rock shapes and natural Jacuzzis. Verzasca is considered the wildest major valley in Ticino - one that preserved its original beauty and traditional architecture in form of old stone houses (rustici). In this stunning valley, you can do hiking, canyoning, kayaking, diving or bungy jumping like James Bond. If you've ever dreamt of being a real-life James Bond, we suggest you watching our penultimate video. You can swim in lots of places along the river, but the most popular place is at Lavertezzo where you can easily spend several lazy hours, soaking in the sun, splashing in the icy pools, wandering around the rocks, and watching crazy show-offs doing flips off the iconic two arch bridge. But let us also inform you that the water temperature changes between 7 and 10 degrees.

Verzasca Bungee Jump 007 Goldeneye
Travelled to Verzasca Dam in Ticino, Switzerland on route to Milan to do the famous 007 Goldeneye Bungee Jump. Its the 3rd highest in the world at 220m. My friend Mark and I jumped it and loved every second. Amazing experience I`ll never forget!!!
