Manissery is a town in the Palakkad District of Kerala state in India. It is about 4 km west of Ottapalam. The Magnificent marvelous structure which speaks volumes of past glory in present tense that is Varikkassery Mana at Manisseri near Ottapalam in Palakkad district. The traditional home of one of the most aristocratic Namboothiri families of Valluvanad. The heartthrob of erstwhile Malabar is known for its architectural beauty. The three building a very large pond with a beautiful pond house and a Sreekrishna temple, all stand on a serene atmosphere. The Varikkasseri family has a history of over 100 years. Varikkasseri has the sovereign position among Namboothiri Ashta griha families. The Mana was built by Varikkassery Ravi Namboothirippad in the early twentieth century. ArchaeologyIn 4 Acres, Varikkasseri Mana consists of one Nalukettu, two Pathayappuras : one to the south and other to the west , A Sreekrishna temple, Oottupura and a marvelous large pond with kulappura.NalukettuNalukettu-Architecture is the traditional architecure of a typical Kerala-house. Nalukettu-structure is typically a rectangular structure where four halls are joined together with four verandas to form an open quadrangle . The four halls on the sides are named Vadakkini, Kizhakkini, Thekkini and Padinjatti . Each of these halls has its own well-defined functional importance. Nalukettu is the main building of Varikkasseri Mana. Most parts of this building were built during the first decade of 20th century. The foundation of the building was constructed as per the measurements done by Perumthachan. It was Velanezhi Jathavedan Namboodiri who designed the Nalukettu building, as per the Vastu Shastra.

Varikkasseri Mana is one of the oldest traditional aristocratic Namboothiri family houses (illam) in Kerala.
Built in Kerala architectural style on a plot of land measuring approximately 4 acres, the building is located at Manissery, a village in Ottapalam in Palakkad.
It is a popular shooting location for Malayalam films and several commercially successful films such as Devasuram, Aaraam Thampuran, Rappakal and Valliettan were filmed on its premises.
The Mana is located at Manissery, in Ottappalam, around 35 kms from Palakkad, in the south Indian state of Kerala.
The nearest railway station is Ottapalam railway station but one may also reach the place via Shornur railway station which is 13 kms away.
Kozhikode International Airport is the entry point by air, which is situated 62 kms away from the Mana.

Varikkasseri Mana is one of the oldest traditional aristocratic Namboothiri's Houses (illam). It is also known as Varikkumanchery Mana. It is located at Manissery,a village in Ottapalam,palakkad, Kerala, South India. Varikkassey Mana is situated on about four Acaes. The house was used in a number of Mollywood movies. Visitors are allowed when no film is shooting.The Varikkasseri family has a history of over 100 years. Varikkasseri has the sovereign position among Namboothiri Ashta griha families. The Mana was built by Varikkassery Ravi Namboothirippad in the early twentieth century.
The Mana situated in a picturesque landscape of more than 10 acres which contains a beautiful Pond, Two Temples and two Pathayapuras and trees that includes all types of indigenous ones.
Archaeology In 4 Acres, Varikkasseri Mana consists of one Nalukettu, two Pathayappuras (Outhouse): one to the south ( Thekke Pathayappura) and other to the west ( Padinjare pathayappura), A Sreekrishna temple, Oottupura and a marvelous large pond with kulappura ( a building at the pond-entrance). Mana was built by Varikkasseri Ravi Namboodiripad, paternal grand-uncle of current head ( Karanavar) Krishnan Namboodiripad.
The four halls on the sides are named Vadakkini (Northern block), Kizhakkini (Eastern block), Thekkini (Southern block) and Padinjatti (Western block).
Each of these halls has its own well-defined functional importance. Nalukettu is the main building (Tharavadu) of Varikkasseri Mana.
Another view is of the Pond which mesmerizes us of its green colour and the trees surrounding it. From the Pond then it is to the Large ‘Devi temple’ and a small ‘Aiyappa Kshetram’.
