Mountain Biking the Black Mountain trail in Pisgah National Forest near Asheville, North Carolina
This route in Pisgah National Forest outside of Asheville, North Carolina, was probably the best ride of the road trip. Really fun mountain bike adventure the whole way through!

Today, we will be checking out the brand new trail network in Cherokee, North Carolina: Fire Mountain. Fire Mountain boasts around 11 miles of fresh cut singletrack, and it's just the beginning.
I joined up with my friends Stout Paul, Ty, and Theresia to check this place out for the very first time, and to sample the newest addition to wnc which has already begun to receive some positive talk.
The real question is though, can this take down the classic Ridgeline trail in DuPont?
You tell me!!

Black Mountain Trail | Mountain Biking Pisgah Forrest
We spent our third day in Pisgah Forrest on Black Mountain. We really wanted to do the clawhammer ride from the top, but there was no way I could climb and hike a bike the whole way up there. So we rode the lower Black Mountain Trail and Sycamore Cove Trail instead. I lost my glasses on the way up and got stung by hornets on the way down. But as always - it was worth it to ride it. If you're looking for a bike shop, check out the Hub or Squatch Bikes. If you're looking for food check out Magpie and 3. Beer? It's everywhere, but start out at Oscar Blues. Want a re-wilding homestead tour? Look up Everest on Air B to B. Learn about mushrooms and bamboo farming.

Trail TV: Riding (and living) the MTB dream in Pisgah and DuPont
We’ve been a little bit of everywhere filming Trail TV. But damn you, Pisgah (and DuPont), you’ve stolen my heart. And tore my legs to hell and back.
Who cares when you’re bombing down some killer singletrack smiling a toothy grin as a result, right? 10-4, good buddy. Whatever the magic is, they’re pulling a rabbit out of a hat on a daily basis in Asheville and its little (better looking) cousin just down the road.
In two weeks, we hardly scratched the surface of the awesome riding/beer culture there. Nor did we get close to hitting every brewery serving up the secret sauce. We came away saying this place is the whole enchilada because of the vibe (with apologies to Moab).
Time to watch just a little... and get ready to pack your bags. You’ve got a plane to catch.

I'm house sitting for Seth in Asheville, and man am I stoked to be here. I love it in Asheville not just because of all the riding that's accessible, but also because I have so many great friends here that LOVE to get out and do things in the outdoors together. I have been wanting to spend some time here for over a year now, and I'm excited to be back for a bit... but it won't be too long as I've got something really fun planned coming up :P
Today Paul and I are hitting some trails that Brian and I never made it to during the Redemption trip - DuPont State Forest.
This place is a mountain bikers' wet dream: 86 miles of purpose built singletrack all surrounded by beautiful scenery. Paul and I are out for a lap on one of DuPont's most famous trails - Big Rock. It's known for the heaping amount of unique rock slab riding, which should be good riding since it rained yesterday and a lot of the dirt trails are muddy.
Blah blah blah, enough talking.... LET'S RIDE!

Today we are out for another ride up in the Burlington area, but today is special because we are joined by Phil and Hailey's good friend: Buffalo.
Yes, there is a great story behind it, no we can't get into details ;)
Anyway, we are out at Cadey Hill, which turned out to be a really fun place to ride, and FINALLY the weather has made a turn for the better. This wasn't the longest ride ever, but it sure was full of fun moments and some great slices of singletrack.
I was SUPER STOKED after the ride to get a tour of Buffalo's Ford Transit that he resides in. He has a super minimal layout that he built all himself.
The post ride activities only made the day better as we headed out for a beer at the Trappe family Brewery then into town for some delicious ramen and ice cream.
All in all it was a pretty darn awesome day, and I hop you guys are having a great one too!

THESE ROOKIES RIDE HARDER THAN YOU (and me!) - Mountain biking the notorious Full Black MT in Pisgah
I took two riders with under a year experience out to tackle one of Pisgah's toughest trails: Black Mountain.... and they KILLED IT!!!
MORE VIDEO HERE!

Today was a great day. A couple of local college students from WCU, Ethan and Matthew, reached out to me this weekend and invited me on a weekend trip to ride one of the most classic Pisgah rides: Full Black Mountain.
Full Black Mountain is an all day epic beginning with a brutal climb up Clawhammer (its definitely as bad as it sounds). What begins as a pretty mellow and consistent gravel road climb later turns into a pretty brutal hike a bike in middle black up to some stunning scenic overlooks.
Then comes the fun. I was incredibly impressed with these two dudes that have both been riding mtb for under a year. I don't know if it is the fact that they are so young and still invincible or that they have practiced endlessly for the past year (or maybe both), but they were so much fun to ride with and handled even the gnarliest stuff Pisgah threw at them!
We had an absolute blast blasting down the mountain. In the top section Black Mountain is very rooted and rutted, which makes for some real exciting downs as you have to be on your toes the whole time ready to change your line at the drop of a hat. We got through smoothly aside from one slashed sidewall on Ethan's bike.
By the time we got to lower black, we were all quite tired and the arm pump was real. Lower black has been redone in the past years to be very flowy and bermed out with a couple rock sections in between. Oh, and FAST! I could hardly hold on to my bars come this time...
We capped the amazing day off with, surprise, some Mexican food!
I couldn't have asked for a more fun day with these two dudes. Really awesome when things come together as perfectly as that. We had been messaging for about a month planning to meet up, and man am I happy that we did.
I hope you all enjoy this adventure ride out on the bikes. I know I sure did!

Dualsport Trail Ride in NC Just Say No To Stupidity
Ok, so call me a chicken if you want to but I'd already watched enough you tube videos on this one to know better! This is the Dicky Bell hill climb at Uwharrie National Park in NC. It's pretty famous for Jeeps as you can see! I figured Jay was just messing with me but he knows I mean business when my head starts spinning in circles when I'm talking! There was no way! At the end of this video, I picked up to much down hill speed, hit that jump, bounced hard and I knew I wasn't going to make that turn so...! Jay thought maybe I had to make an emergency bathroom stop in the woods, lol!
I left some links below if you want to check out some others doing this hill climb!

Kolo Bike Park | Asheville NC
We spent a week in Asheville North Carolina. We rode Bent Creek Forrest, Pisgah Forest and Dupont Forrest. We were going to head back to Dupont on the last day, but I couldn't take anymore climbing, so we found this place to have a little fun. Kolo Flow Bike Park is in the heart of Asheville and is a great place to work on some beginner and intermediate skills. They also have a big jumpline park with gap jumps if you you're into that sort of thing. Check it out if you can and hit that subscribe button for us, will ya? :)
Riding Kitsuma in North Carolina • Pisgah Trip - Part 1 • The Duke of MTB
We couldn't wait for the spring thaw to end in Michigan, so in March we went to North Carolina to ride some of their awesome trails there. Kitsuma was the first trail we rode when we arrived. We also recently bought an Insta 360 One X as a secondary camera. I'm excited to try some different camera angles with 360 cam. Anyway, more vids from our trip to North Carolina will be coming soon.
Does anyone even read the description? I never know what to put here.
