South Gippsland Coastal Town Port Albert - Top Tourist Parks - Discover Downunder
TV presenter of Discover Downunder Brooke Hanson is visiting South Gippsland Coastal Town Port Albert which is located 220km from Melbourne. Port Albert began as a thriving Port as Brooke discovers from Maritime Museum volunteer Bill Black who talks about the early days. In 1841 the port was the only one to service all of South Gippsland. There is plenty of history to see inside the museum, such as the 1841 Clonmel shipwreck memorabilia. The old bakery across the road is now an artist gallery run by Warren Curry who talks about his paintings from the town. Brooke's last stop is at Port Albert Wharf fish and chip takeaway shop.

Avalon Lea - Byron Bay hinterland oasis
See more at
• Fully organically certified
• Magnificent views
• 10 minutes from Byron Bay
• Tastefully renovated
• Charming gardens
• Excellent cattle facilities
• Extensive vegetable gardens
• Productive, income producing citrus orchard – approx. 2,000 trees
• Primary production status
• On site management willing to stay on
Avalon Lea is an idyllic, 120 acre, organic haven set amongst the picturesque Byron Bay countryside, just 10 minutes from the ocean. A classic and tastefully renovated homestead sits amongst charming gardens that are bordered by highly productive, organic-certified farmland. Magnificent views to the lighthouse and Julian Rocks complete this all-encompassing Byron Bay hinterland oasis.
This unique offering lends itself to a multitude of income producing enterprises with a level of infrastructure rarely available. There is a network of ponds that are designed to exacting permaculture principles, a large citrus orchard, productive vegetable gardens, a fully operational nursery pad, registered cabinet timber plantation, excellent cattle facilities and comprehensive underlying irrigation infrastructure.
There is the option for the farm production to look after itself as knowledgeable and motivated onsite management presently run the property. The farm is producing in excess of 25 tonnes of fruit per year and the current owners have recently doubled the size of the orchard, meaning volumes in excess of 50 tonnes plus can be expected within the next year or so. The farm is lightly stocked carrying 34 breeding cows, bull and progeny. All progeny are sold directly to a specialist Gold Coast butcher for a significant premium. A 6 figure farm revenue is consistently achieved and the property has Primary production status and offers a range of tax related incentives.
In addition to this the property offers further income as a sought-after function and holiday-let destination. The tastefully renovated home, charming grounds and outlook are perfect for an inspiring Byron Bay country wedding. A large shed with two adjoining accommodations and facilities are ideal for guests or extended family.
The panoramic ocean and lighthouse views are achieved from an elevated prepared building platform with power provided and separate private entrance.
