Venus Bay - Whats Up Downunder Summer Series - Go Make Some Memories
In this video the What's Up Down Under team hit Venus Bay, one of our top 10 holiday destinations within two hours of Melbourne.
An incredibly popular destination for Victorians, the town is set between Leongatha and Wonthaggi south-east of Melbourne.
Its unique location means there are five beaches to enjoy in the area, including lots of great fishing and surfing spots.
Cape Litrap also provides some spectacular walking trails to explore.
Venus Bay Caravan Park presented by Peter Bellingham Photography
Venus Bay Caravan Park is conveniently located within a short drive from beautiful Wilson's Promontory, Phillip Island and the many other attractions of South Gippsland.
Only 800 meters from the main surf beach. This beach is patrolled every day during the Summer school holidays and on weekends for the remainder of summer.
The Caravan Park has a spacious layout, with power, water and sullage to all sites. Ensuite sites are also available. Both cabins and sites are set in a shady parkland setting and are suitable for either the romantic weekend away or a family beach holiday. Bike riding is encouraged within the park and helmets are essential. We can also accommodate group bookings and the heated recreation room is ideal for meetings or social events, with adjoining electric BBQ for self-catering.
Venus Bay State's longest sandpit with five superb surf beaches, choice of surf, river and estuary fishing.
For those of you who enjoy the beauty of the natural Australian bush land, Venus Bay has lots to offer. Only a short drive from the Caravan Park is Point Smythe Reserve, where there are many scenic bush-walking tracks.
There are great views of Anderson's Inlet and an abundance of wildlife to be enjoyed. Watch out for kangaroos crossing particularly near Fisherman's Jetty and just past the viewing tower, approaching Point Smythe. Boat ramps are located at Fisherman's Jetty and Tarwin Lower

Dolphins playing in the surf, Almonta Beach, Eyre Peninsula, SA
From the placid waters of Yangie Bay it's a short spin on sleek bitumen roads to the cliff-top vistas and ocean surf at Almonta Beach on the Eyre Peninsula, South Australia.
The heart of the park spills westward past ephemeral lakes and tea-tree scrub to a widening peninsula. It's a spine-shuddering ride by 4WD. As well as dune-drifts to climb and waves to dodge on Seven Mile Beach, the inland tracks are so lumpy that drivers rarely graduate from second gear.
