Yallourn North is a small country town in the City of Latrobe, Victoria, Australia. It is approximately eight kilometres north-east of Moe, and 146 kilometres south-east of Melbourne. Prior to 1947 Yallourn North was known as Brown Coal Mine. The Post Office opened on 3 September 1917 as Brown Coal Mine and was renamed Yallourn North in 1947.This tiny hilltop town contains many churches, including the only Serbian Orthodox Church and Mosque in the region. Sports available are Australian rules football, cricket, lawn bowls and carpet bowls, netball and angling. There is a Social Golf Club, and pistol club. The Latrobe Valley is an inland geographical district and urban area of the Gippsland region in the state of Victoria, Australia. The district lies east of the Melbourne and nestled between the Strzelecki Ranges to the south and the Baw Baw Ranges, part of the Great Dividing Range, to the north. Mount Baw Baw is the highest peak to the north of the Latrobe Valley, due north of Moe. The highest peak to the south is Mt Tassie , south of Traralgon. The area has three major centres, from west to east, Moe, Morwell and Traralgon, with minor centres including Churchill, Yinnar, Glengarry, and Tyers. The population of the Latrobe Valley is approximately 125,000. The valley draws its name from the Latrobe River which flows eastward, through the valley. Moonlit Sanctuary Wildlife Conservation Park is a 25-acre biopark within the Pearcedale Conservation Park located at Pearcedale on the Mornington Peninsula near Melbourne, Australia. It aims to display the fauna that was found in the Mornington Peninsula and Western Port Biosphere Reserve prior to European settlement as well as working towards the recovery of threatened Australian fauna. The park is open all year except on Christmas Day. The sanctuary, as part of Pearcedale Conservation Park, is an institutional member of the Zoo and Aquarium Association . It is ECO Certified at the Ecotourism level by Ecotourism Australia.

A brief history of Haunted Hills Road, Newborough

The Haunted Hills are located on the Eastern side of Latrobe City, just after Moe. The Haunted Hills boast a story unique to our area alone.

It has a rich history affecting towns as far as Lakes Entrance and the snow fields. The haunted hills road was the main land route from Lakes Entrance to Melbourne. Travelers were forced to take the highroad due to the swamp between Koo Wee Rup and Moe. The swamp was drained after the railway was put through the haunted hills in 1879.

The Haunted Hills has a ghost story, some say this is a criminal conspiracy.
