Today was an amazing day of traveling in Athens, Greece. We ate some incredibly delicious Greek food and saw some of the most famous attractions, including the Acropolis (Parthenon) in Athens.
Here’s what you’ll find in this video:
Diporto Restaurant - This is an amazing hidden gem of a restaurant serving traditional Greek food in a downstairs basement tavern. They only have a few dishes per day, and you order whatever they have - everything is delicious.
Total price - 25 EUR for everything
Souvlaki Lefteris o Politis - This is another famous souvlaki, Greek street food, hole in the wall that I was excited to try because they are known for their spicy souvlaki. It was awesomely delicious and something you shouldn't miss if you love Greek food.
Price - 1.90 EUR per piece
Plaka Neighborhood - In the afternoon, I walked around the Plaka Neighborhood for a while and also saw the National Garden.
Panathenaic Stadium - In order to fulfill my inner Olympian, I entered into the Panathenaic Stadium, walked around this amazing marble stadium, and took a victory lap. It was awesome, it’s a must see when you’re in Athens.
Entrance price - 5 EUR
Dio Dekares i Oka Restaurant - We had an early Greek food dinner at Dio Dekares i Oka Restaurant that serves home-style Greek food. The lamb with dill and celery was the highlight dish for me.
Total price - 33 EUR for everything
Acropolis of Athens - There’s no doubt that the Acropolis of Athens, which includes the Parthenon is the most famous attraction to see in Athens. It was at the center of Athens and the center of Western civilization at its peak. It’s an amazing sight to see, even though it’s high damaged. But it’s truly breathtaking to admire the columns.
Combined attractions ticket - 30 EUR
Hope you enjoyed this Athens travel guide tour, with amazing Greek food and some must see attractions. Thank you for watching.

Rethink Athens- towards a new city center
Developing the Re-Think Athens project has laid a basis for a new future for Athens' city centre. The movie presents the designs of the OKRA team for the new city centre turning it into a resilient, accessible and vibrant heart.
OKRA, supported by Mixst Urbanisme, WUR, Studio 75, WSGT, Atelier Roland Jeol, LDK and NAMA, have completed their studies, within this short period of time, due to support of Onassis Foundation, Attiko Metro, the City of Athens, several ministries and Greek universities. The works will start in 2014 and will be completed in 2016.

Olympic Village in Athens, Greece - Home of the 2004 Summer Olympics
Just outside of the main part of downtown Athens is the Olympic Village for the 2004 Summer Olympics. It was sad to see such amazing structures become a ghost town. Thankfully the village is open to anyone and free to visit, but the grounds are so large and the visitors are so few, this place felt like a ghost town. But it was still definitely worth seeing!
Timelapse Olympic Village Athens Greece 2004 2015
Time-lapse photography is a technique whereby the frequency at which film frames are captured (the frame rate) is much lower than that used to view the sequence. When played at normal speed, time appears to be moving faster and thus lapsing. For example, an image of a scene may be captured once every second, then played back at 30 frames per second; the result is an apparent 30 times speed increase. Time-lapse photography can be considered the opposite of high speed photography or slow motion.
Processes that would normally appear subtle to the human eye, e.g. the motion of the sun and stars in the sky, become very pronounced. Time-lapse is the extreme version of the cinematography technique of undercranking, and can be confused with stop motion animation.

Alexandroupoli (Greek: Αλεξανδρούπολη, [aleksanˈðrupoli] ( listen)) is a city in Greece and the capital of the Evros regional unit in East Macedonia and Thrace. It is an important port and commercial center of northeastern Greece.
Alexandroupoli is one of the newest cities in Greece, as it was only a fishing village until the late 19th century. However, the modern city is located at the site of ancient Sale (Greek: Σάλη), a Greek city of the classical era founded by colonists from the island of Samothrace which is mentioned by Herodotus.[2]
Alexandroupoli benefits from its position at the centre of land and sea routes connecting Greece with Turkey.[3] Landmarks in Alexandroupoli include the city's lighthouse in the port, the archaeological sites of Mesimvria Zone and Maroneia stretching out to the small port of Agios Charalambos, the city's waterfront (center of commercial activity), and the nearby Evros Delta.[3]
Two-thirds of the Greek people live in urban areas. Greece's largest metropolitan centers and most influential urban areas, are those of Athens and Thessaloniki with metropolitan populations of approximately 4 million and 1 million inhabitants respectively. The table below, using the preliminary population figures of the latest census (2011),[1] lists the largest cities in Greece, by population contained in their respective contiguous built up urban areas; which are either made up of many Census-designated places, evident in the cases of Athens, Thessaloniki, Heraklion and Volos, or are contained within a single Census-designated place, case evident in all of the other cities of the country. The lowest level of Census-Designated Places in Greece are called oikismoi (settlements) and are the smallest continuous built-up areas with a toponym designated for the census. Although some urban CDPs form individual cities and towns (labeled in bold) the majority of them do not. They are either what make up the central districts, or suburbs (italicized), contained within the wider urban and metropolitan areas of Athens and Thessaloniki.
The list below presents every settlement (CDP) that is urban, with a population of more than 10,000 de jure (permanent) residents, using data collected from the 2011 census.[2][3]
GREECE: LET'S GO NIGHT-SHOPPING in the WORLD FAMOUS island of SANTORINI ????️
SUBSCRIBE: - Let's go night shopping in the beautiful island of Santorini (Greece) after a spectacular sunset. See some of the tourist shops and the souvenirs they sell, including jewelry and many local special items, Vic Stefanu, vstefanu@yahoo.com. Santorini (Greek: Σαντορίνη) or Thera (English pronunciation and officially Thira (Greek: Θήρα), is an island in the southern Aegean Sea, about 200 km (120 mi) southeast of Greece's mainland.
Santorini is one of the Cyclades islands in the Aegean Sea. It was devastated by a volcanic eruption in the 16th century BC, forever shaping its rugged landscape. The whitewashed, cubiform houses of its 2 principal towns, Fira and Oia, cling to cliffs above an underwater caldera (crater). They overlook the sea, small islands to the west and beaches made up of black, red and white lava pebbles.
Greece is a country in southeastern Europe with thousands of islands throughout the Aegean and Ionian seas. Influential in ancient times, it's often called the cradle of Western civilization. Athens, its capital, retains landmarks including the 5th-century B.C. Acropolis citadel with the Parthenon temple. Greece is also known for its beaches, from the black sands of Santorini to the party resorts of Mykonos.

A day in the life of an ancient Athenian - Robert Garland

View full lesson:
It’s 427 BCE, and the worst internal conflict ever to occur in the ancient Greek world is in its fourth year. Athens is facing a big decision: what to do with the people of Mytilene, a city on the island of Lesbos where a revolt against Athenian rule has just been put down. How did these kinds of decisions get made? Robert Garland outlines a day in the life of Athenian democracy.

Greece: Antifa patrol by Anti-Αuthoritarian Social Center “Distomo” (Agios Panteleimonas, Athens)
An anarchist antifascist social center has opened inside an area of Athens, that until recently predominantly supported the neonazi Golden Dawn party in Greece.
The antifa social center in Agios Panteleimonas is called “Distomo” after the massacre of 10 June 1944 in the greek village where the Waffen-SS, for over two hours, went door to door and massacred Greek civilians, as part of a ‘retaliation measure’ for a partisan attack upon the unit. A total of 214 men, women and children were massacred in Distomo.
