1 Vilwadrinatha Temple (Vilvadhrinath Kshethram) is one of the four major temples in Kerala, dedicated to Lord Rama and his brother Lord Lakshmana.
2 This ancient temple stands on the top of a hill which is exactly in the center of Thiruvilwamala village.
3 Devotees climb about 50 steps to reach the temple, where they are welcomed by the small idols of Garuda posted on each side of the main gate.
4 On both the west and east sides of the temple, there are remains of two huge Gopurams. The reason behind their destruction is still not known.
5 A daily ritual procession of deities called Seeveli, is carried out on the stone carved circumambulation path of the Vilwadrinatha temple.
6 The idol of Lord Rama in the west facing shrine is a Swayambhu, which makes Vilwadrinatha, Kerala's only temple with Lord Rama’s self-born image.
7 Punarjani Guha or the cave of Punarjani near the temple is considered as a mystical site that opens up only during Guruvayur Ekadashi.
8 Every year devotees take part in Punarjani Noozhal that is crawling through the narrow passage of this cave as a significant ritual.

Thiruvilwamala is a hilly village in the northern terrain of Thrissur district of Kerala state in southern India.
It is located 47 kilometres towards north-east of the District Headquarters Thrissur.
The village, which is more of a temple town, is located on the banks of the Bharathappuzha river, with nearest towns being chelakkara and Ottapalam shornur.
The place is famous for the Vilwadrinatha Temple, which is among the rare Sri Rama temples in Kerala.
Even though people believe the deity as Lord Rama, actually it is of Lord Vishnu.
Niramaala & Ekadashi are the famous festive events here.
Temple timings are from 5 A.M. to 11 A.M. and 5 P.M to 8 P.M on regular days.
