Parc Voyageur Ontario
Coureur des Bois Trail in Fall (Voyageur Provincial Park- October 2015)
There is much to see on the Coureur des Bois Trail at Voyageur Provincial Park, regardless of the season. However, the fall colours are particularly beautiful along this nature trail, located at this Hawkesbury area park. This trail's namesake is the group of famed French-Canadian woodsmen who traveled up and down the Ottawa River, among other waterways, in the early days of New France. The woodsmen traded European goods for furs, deep in the wilderness.
Along the trail, you can find a large wetland, ferns along the forest floor and an abnormally large glacial erratic (basically, a large boulder). During this visit, I also spotted two garter snakes, most likely slithering back to their den. Many leaves also fell during my time on the trail, as there were several strong gusts of wind.
This video was shot during mid-October, 2015, near the Ontario-Quebec border (east of Hawkesbury, Ontario, between Ottawa, ON and Montreal, QC).
Coureur des Bois Trail in Late Spring (Voyageur Provincial Park - June 2016)
The Coureur-des-Bois Trail is located at Voyageur Provincial Park, east of Hawkesbury, ON. The area along this trail contains a variety of habitats and landscapes. These include swamps, marshes and upland forest. I found multiple chipmunks in my walk along the trail. Birds were easy to spot in the large marsh at the end of the trail. Large ferns can be found along most of the trail in the late spring and summer months.
This video was shot near the Ontario-Quebec border in early June, 2016.
Hawkesbury, Ontario ASMR
Making lemonade. Since I have the wide open day, guess I'll go relax and explore this French town in the Quebec-Ontario border.
