Holidays in Arniston, South Africa.
This is an aeriel footage of Arniston using a DJI Phantom 3 Standard Drone. Arniston is a small fishing town and a popular destination for holidays near Cape Town. It is nearly 240 KM away from Cape Town. The drive to Arniston is beautiful and the place itself is stunning. It is home to beautiful long sandy beaches, sand dunes, fishing opportunities, a small fishing village which is a national monument, Waenhuiskrans Cave and stunning rock formations besides other natural attractions. Here is a drone footage of this lovely location. Find yourself an accommodation either in Arniston Hotel, Self-Catering houses or Arniston's fishing village to experience how the locals live. The Arniston Spa Hotel in Arniston at South Africa's Overberg Coast
Early morning in Arniston at South Africa's Overberg Coast. The fishermen from the village of Kassiesbaai are launching their boats. Tension on the men's faces. Will it be a good day? Will the weather hold?
Next to the fishing harbour - right at the Indian Ocean - the Arniston Spa Hotel - one of the best wellness venues at the Cape. The rooms are spacious with a generous lay-out. With balconies and stunning seaviews. The day starts with a sumptuous breakfast in the sunny conservatory.
There is a lot to see in Arniston. For instance the old village of Kassiesbaai - the bay of the little boxes - with its thatched, whitewashed Fisherman's houses. Or the beautiful swimming beaches of Arniston at the aquamarine sea. Or the huge sand dunes in the Waenhuiskrans nature reserve.
In the hotel's exclusive wellness sanctuary, professional therapists pamper the guests with beauty treatments and body therapies. There are also saunas, a Turkish steam chamber and a tranquillity lounge. The bar for lunches, snacks and drinks is open all day.
The fischermen have returned from the sea. Relief and happy faces. It's been a good day. The catch is Red Roman. This delicious fish is sold to Cape Town. And will of course feature on tonight's dinner menu, prepared to perfection in the renowned kitchen of the Arniston Hotel.
Yes, it is true what is said about the Arniston Hotel: One of the world's great Getaways.
FISHERMEN AT ARNISTON
This short film was taken at the fishing village of Arniston close to the southern tip of South Africa in 2000. It shows the small craft coming in from the sea, pulling the boats from the water and unloading the fish which appears to be quite a community affair.

wreck of the Arniston,South Africa, 1815
Arniston is a small village near Cape Agullas in South Africa. It was named after the East Indiaman Arniston, which was wrecked on the sand dunes in 1815 with the loss of over 300 men, women and children.
Arniston A Tiny Fishing Town With A Huge Hotel
Arniston is a small seaside settlement in the Overberg region on the Cape South coast, close to Cape Agulhas, the southernmost tip of Africa. Prior to the loss of the Arniston, it was known as Waenhuiskrans, an Afrikaans name meaning literally Wagon house cliff, after a local sea cave large enough to accommodate a wagon and a span of oxen.
We went there for the weekend and I decide to put a video together.

I'm a South African vlogger currently living in Wild Wild Somerset West, but I've kinda stayed all over the place - from Cape Town, Betty's Bay, Villiersdorp and even ... ehem...Kuilsriver. i'm not sure what the end game will be from this vlog. Right now I'm really just having fun recording and capturing parts of my day to day life. I find the editing process fun, challenging and massively rewarding.
