In 1080p HD. Part 1 of 2. Exploring sea caves in sea kayaks around the Otago coast. Left from waikouaiti beach near karitane. Beautiful still, calm day. Timed it perfectly with low tide and no swell. Awesome caves to explore and a few fur seals hanging about too. Josh is the other kayaker. Trying out my new hero 4 silver gopro. Original hero on the back of kayak. My kayak is an eco Bezhig, great kayak.

Waikouaiti Peace
Scenes from Waikouaiti Beach looking towards Karitane and Matanaka. As you go inland by the stream of the lagoon you go past the golf course. The lagoon has lots of bird life, which can be, enjoy by walkways through the lagoon.
Waikouaiti is a small town in East Otago, New Zealand, within the city limits of Dunedin. Established in 1840, Waikouaiti was the first European settlement in southern New Zealand to be mainly based on farming, and one of the first major European settlements in Otago. It dates from the late 1830s when whaler Johnny Jones established a station in the area. The first school serving Waikouaiti and Karitane was built by whalers including Johnny Jones on the Matanaka headland. Johnny Jones later brought settlers from Sydney, Australia to farm the district, several years before the foundation of the Otago Settlement in 1848. Prior to the arrival of Europeans, the area was frequented by Maori, who had a pa at nearby Karitane.

This morning from the perspective of Waikouaiti looked like a volcano with a fire behind a mountain that looked a bit like a volcano.
Surfer surprised by seals on Waikouaiti Beach, New Zealand
I was filming some surfers and after a long ride a surfer gets a surprise when he comes out of the surf sees seals right in front of him.
