Waikouaiti is a small town in East Otago, New Zealand, within the city limits of Dunedin. The town is close to the coast and the mouth of the Waikouaiti River. Today, Waikouaiti is a retail trade and servicing centre for the surrounding district, which has sheep farming as the principal primary activity. A major egg producer, Zeagold Foods, a branch of Mainland Poultry LTD has a 500,000-hen factory farming operation here and is in the process of expanding over the next year to meet demand for egg products. 1. Waikouaiti Beach Waikouaiti
Waikouaiti is a small town in East Otago, New Zealand, within the city limits of Dunedin. The town is close to the coast and the mouth of the Waikouaiti River. Today, Waikouaiti is a retail trade and servicing centre for the surrounding district, which has sheep farming as the principal primary activity. 2. Matanaka Farm Building Waikouaiti
Matanaka Farm is near Waikouaiti in Otago, New Zealand. The five buildings are the oldest surviving farm buildings that are still in their original position in the country. The farm is owned and administered by Heritage New Zealand, and the buildings are registered as Category I and are considered historically outstanding.

3. Katiki Point Lighthouse Moeraki
The Katiki Point Lighthouse, also known as Moeraki Lighthouse, shone for the first time in 1878, following several accidents on the dangerous reefs around the area, to make the area safer for ships that sailed past on their way to Port Chalmers, Dunedin. The lighthouse was built between the settlements of Moeraki and Katiki, on the tip of the Moeraki Peninsula, which is known as Katiki Point or Moeraki Point.

4. Moeraki Boulders Moeraki
The Moeraki Boulders are unusually large and spherical boulders lying along a stretch of Koekohe Beach on the wave-cut Otago coast of New Zealand between Moeraki and Hampden. They occur scattered either as isolated or clusters of boulders within a stretch of beach where they have been protected in a scientific reserve. The erosion by wave action of mudstone, comprising local bedrock and landslides, frequently exposes embedded isolated boulders. These boulders are grey-colored septarian concretions, which have been exhumed from the mudstone enclosing them and concentrated on the beach by coastal erosion.In 1848 W. B. D. Mantell sketched the beach and its boulders, more numerous than now. The picture is now in the Alexander Turnbull Library in Wellington. The boulders were described in 1850 ...

5. Clutha Gold Trail Roxburgh
The Clutha River / Mata-Au is the second longest river in New Zealand and the longest in the South Island. It flows south-southeast 338 kilometres through Central and South Otago from Lake Wanaka in the Southern Alps to the Pacific Ocean, 75 kilometres south west of Dunedin. It is the highest volume river in New Zealand, and the swiftest, with a catchment of 21,960 square kilometres , discharging a mean flow of 614 cubic metres per second . The Clutha River is known for its scenery, gold-rush history, and swift turquoise waters. A river conservation group, the Clutha Mata-Au River Parkway Group, is working to establish a regional river parkway, with a trail, along the entire river corridor. The name of the river was changed to a dual name by the Ngai Tahu Claims Settlement Act 1998.

This is a video I created of our local beach here in Waikouaiti on the Sunshine Coast of Otago, South Island NZ. This footage was taken on a lazy Sunday afternoon in 2012 and includes my wee mate Toto, the white and tan Jack Russell. This is a tiki tour road trip around Dunedin City outskirts and part of the centre that I took in 2012 on a shopping excursion for weekly supplies. I have added a peaceful music track to the video and places to watch out for are George Street Anzac Avenue Dunedin Railway Station Spotlight Store Animal Attractions Queen's Gardens Cadbury's chocolate factory Dunedin Hospital and watch out for an emergency helicopter landing on the Heli Pad of the Hospital at 5.04 The Captain Cook Tavern (in / famous students watering hole ! haha, oh to be so young and liberal with the moonshine ! ) and we also had a cuppa tea at Kitchener Street reserve along with the Seagulls and scenery and also the Molars Statues there and not forgetting Ye Olde Book Den right at the end of the video on the right hand side of the road before the start of the Northern Motorway back to the Sunshine Coast. Kiwi Coastal Road Trip Blueskin Bay to Port Chalmers Otago South Island NZ

This is a road trip I took from Blueskin Bay to Port Chalmers on Christmas Day of 2011 and I was filming this time and Lou was driving. As we arrived in Port Chalmers we found that the Ocean Liner Cruise ship The Dawn Princess ( I think ? ) was in dock much to my delight but as I said in one of the earlier videos today at this time I only had a small 4.3 fuji camera rather than my current 16.9 HD but it's still one for the history album.
