Valletta, Malta (Full HD)
Valletta is the capital city of Malta. Geographically, it is located in the South Eastern Region, in the central-eastern portion of the main island of Malta having its western coast with access to the Marsamxett Harbour and its eastern coast in the Grand Harbour. The historical city has a population of 6,444 while the metropolitan area around it has a population of 393,938.
Valletta contains buildings from the 16th century onwards, built during the rule of the Order of St. John also known as Knights Hospitaller. The city is essentially Baroque in character, with elements of Mannerist, Neo-Classical and Modern architecture in selected areas, though the Second World War left major scars on the city, particularly the destruction of the Royal Opera House.
The City of Valletta was officially recognised as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1980.

MALTA (2019) MARSAXLOKK WALKING TOUR - Market and Fishing Boats
Marsaxlokk is a small, fishing village on the South East coast of Malta. It's famous for its picturesque harbour, brightly painted fishing boats known as luzzu and kajjik (with their characteristic painted eyes on the prow - 'the Eye of Osiris',) and the Marsaxlokk Market. This is a major fish market that takes place on Sundays - the tourist market taking place the rest of the week.
Filmed on a Sunday, we'll see part of the fish market as well as some of the most noted restaurants along the way.
We begin our walk on a jetty at the end of Xatt is-Sajjieda, the road that stretches along the seafront. The bright luzzu and kajjik boats bob in the harbour, their characteristic blue, red, yellow and green paintwork reflected in the water. It's immediately obvious why Marsaxlokk is one of the best day trips from Valletta, and leads the top 10 things to do in Malta if you're visiting.
There's so many places to eat in Marsaxlokk, many with gorgeous views over the harbour - from Costa Coffee to Harbour Lights, Roots Restaurant, La Nostra Padrona Restaurant, Pisces Restaurant Marsaxlokk and Cafe De Paris - naming just a few.
It's a perfect place to sit out and people watch - but make sure to book if you're visiting on a Sunday.
We continue our walk by following Triq Il Wilga, passing the rated Tartarun restaurant and Terrone to follow the line of boats out to the end of the quay.

VALLETTA WALK | Night walk through Valletta in Malta ????
A walk through Valletta Malta City Of Culture 2018.
Valletta is the capital city of Malta and is the European City Of Culture for 2018. A fascinating historic city, Valletta is a unique place to visit and Malta's biggest tourist attraction.
We take a walk around the Old Town of Valletta and see why this fantastic city in Malta has been crowned the European Capital Of Culture for 2018
Valletta (/vəˈlɛtə/; Maltese pronunciation: [ˈvɐlɛ.tɐ]) is the capital city of Malta, colloquially known as Il-Belt (IPA: [ˈil.bɛlt]; lit. The City) in Maltese.
Geographically, it is located in the South Eastern Region, in the central-eastern portion of the main island of Malta having its western coast with access to the Marsamxett Harbour and its eastern coast in the Grand Harbour.
The historical city of Valletta has a population of 6,444 (as of March 2014), while the metropolitan area around it has a population of 393,938.
Valletta is the southernmost capital of Europe and the second southernmost capital of the European Union after Nicosia.
The architecture of Valletta's streets and piazzas ranges from mid-16th century Baroque to Modernism.
The city of Valletta is Malta's principal cultural centre and has a unique collection of churches, palaces and museums and act as one of the city's main visitor attractions.
When Benjamin Disraeli, future British Prime Minister, visited the city in 1830, he described it as a city of palaces built by gentlemen for gentlemen, and remarked that Valletta equals in its noble architecture, if it does not excel, any capital in Europe, and in other letters called it comparable to Venice and Cádiz and full of palaces worthy of Palladio.
Valletta will be hosting the title of European Capital of Culture in 2018 with a partner Dutch city, Leeuwarden. The ECoC includes all the Maltese Islands, with an aim to spread its impact throughout the whole Maltese territory.
If you're visiting Malta this year we highly recommend a walk through the city of Valletta, the European Capital of Culture 2018

07/05/2012 - Valletta (Malta)
Mdina, Città Vecchia, or Città Notabile, (English: Notabile, or Imdina) is the old capital of Malta. Mdina is a medieval walled town situated on a hill in the centre of the island. Punic remains uncovered beyond the city's walls suggest the importance of the general region to Malta's Phoenician settlers. Mdina is commonly called the Silent City by natives and visitors. The town is still confined within its walls, and has a population of just over three hundred, but it is contiguous with the village of Rabat, which takes its name from the Arabic word for suburb, and has a population of over 11,000.

Valletta, Malta - Walk in the City.
Royal Caribbean Cruise ship Legend of the Seas cruise, visit to Valletta, Malta March 24, 2017
The ship docked just below the town, situated on a mountain plateau 100 meters above sea level. There is an elevator / stairs from the port up to the town. The old town is about 600 m wide by 1000 m long and all the streets are perpendicular to each other. Impressive buildings that brought thoughts back to Crusader times. The city is surrounded by a wall built originally to protect against the Turks. The city was built by a very strict planning legislation: All houses should go right out to the sidewalk. The gardens were banned, only paved courtyards. Owners of corner houses were to decorate the corner, so there are many beautiful statues on the house corners. The Knights built many magnificent palaces. An interesting walk through the city, where we saw the many palaces and churches. The streets were steep and the pavements were with stairs. Enjoying the spring sun at a cafe with a cafe latte. Back on the ship we ate lunch on our balcony.
