Sydney Classic & Antique Truck Show: Classic Restos - Series 41
Fletch heads west of Sydney to Penrith for the 2019 Sydney Classic & Antique Truck Show held at the Museum of Fire - a 1951 heritage listed Power Station that now serves as a museum, displaying a extraordinary range of fire truck vehicles, associated fire fighting memorabilia and a tribute to the fire fighting services and other essential services of NSW.
Fletch has talked to plenty of passionate car enthusiasts, but there appears to be an ever increasing number of truck enthusiasts, and there are plenty of interesting characters as well.
First up is Bob with his '77 Custom International Acco 370 with impressive twin stainless steel stacks to support the straight through exhaust (no mufflers) so you can hear the power of the V8.
Then Al with an impressive '87 Peterbilt 400 Cummins from the US that has undergone a 20-month restoration including RHD conversion.
Charlie's up next with his 1958 Kenworth NH220 Turbocharged 6 cylinder engine, not the slick presentation like some of the others more a rat rod style with some very cool custom features like airbag suspension with four height levelling suspension.
Then there is Bernie who is quite a character, he tells the story of looking for a C Cab Chevy truck and found a 1928 Ford Hot Rod as he calls it with some quirky features, but he is a truck enthusiast with a 1985 Kenworth EW 900B that he has converted to his comfort camper.

Track Record: In A Spirit Of Progress
A History Of Australia's Railways
Australia's government controlled railways have fought a losing battle against airlines and road freighters for the past 50 years, but in 1937 The Spirit Of Progress was at the vanguard.
In 1980 the XPT made an impact but what does the future hold? What sort of railway does Australia need? Is there the political will to build the VFT?

There are some genuinely giant, scary spiders out there in the world and these are some of the biggest! Here, you’ll find some arachnids that are kind of cute and docile. You’ll also find some that are terrifying, disgusting, and deadly! Enough talking; this is Biggest Spiders in the World!
Learn about the BIGGEST of everything Monday, Wednesday, and Friday just subscribe!
5. Poecilotheria Rajaei
Oh heck no. Tarantulas seem a bit sketchy in the first place… we mean, they’re huge! But this tarantula, which has the nickname Face-Sized Tarantula, is pretty scary due to its size, growing up to 20 centimeters (8 inches). But it’s not even the biggest tarantula on this list! Go figure. Anyways, it got its nickname because it’s, well, about the same size as a human face, and if that’s not enough to scare you, we don’t know what is. The Poecilotheria rajaei is endemic to Sri Lanka, and its name comes from a couple of Greek words; “poikilos,” which means spotted, and “therion,” which means wild beast. Sooo, spotted wild beast. Sounds cute, right? It was first found back in 2009 when a villager brought a dead member of this species to a man who was conducting a study of arachnids in Sri Lanka at the time, Ranil Nanayakkara. Then, it was first described in 2012, in a publication of the British Tarantula Society, and the rest is history. They grow up to eight inches (yes, eight) and eat things like rodents, lizards, snakes, and birds. Ugh.
4. Hercules Baboon Spider
Okay, so there is debate these days on whether or not this spider is still alive and well considering the last time one was actually seen in the wild was way back in 1900. But that doesn’t mean that it is not, or was not a huge spider, so here it is on our list. The Hercules Baboon Spider, or Hysterocrates Hercules, was known to roam the tall grasslands of Eastern Africa and grew to around 21 centimeters or 8.3 inches long, including its legs! They subsisted on a diet of mostly insects and possibly tiny animals, and they were also known sometimes to become cannibalistic, going after other spiders and eating them for survival. We hope they’re still around and just really great at hiding, but if not, at least they’ll forever be remembered as one of the giants!
3. Brazilian Salmon Pink Bird-Eater
Now, that may seem like one crazy name for a simple spider, and it is, considering it’s a nickname, but it sure is easier to pronounce than Lasiodora Parahybana (Lassi-dora Parra-hi-bahna) its scientific name! This big guy hails from, well, Brazil, and was discovered back in 1917, in Paraiba (Par-eye-ee-ba), by Candido Firmino de Mello-Leitao. They are often kept as pets by spider enthusiasts, and despite their large size, they don’t really bite humans, and even if they did, they’re not poisonous. They’re considered to be very docile creatures and really only ever bite when provoked and as a very last resort. The males of the species tend to grow longer than females considering their legs are longer, and they can reach 27.9 centimeters (11 inches)! Females, though, are typically heavier and can run upwards of 100 grams and have a fairly bulky body with shorter legs, whereas the males are slim with really long legs. In the wild, they feed on amphibians, large insects, and small reptiles, and although they’re called “bird-eaters,” there’s no real evidence to support the idea that they actually ever eat birds. No wonder they’re so popular; they’re huge, and they’re cool, calm, and collected, and are known for their willingness to sit out in the open. They probably just like to be looked at. So vain.
2. Giant Huntsman
This freaky lil’ bugger is just one in the family of huntsman spiders, spiders that are big and quick and chase down their prey. Judging by leg span, it is one of the largest spiders in all the world and can grow to be 30 cm or one foot in size! Chills. Their legs are relatively long in comparison to their bodies, and they twist forward, almost crab-like. Not to say that they don’t have fairly big bodies as well. They normally have a body length of around 4.6 centimeters or roughly around 1.8 inches, which we don’t think is very little at all! The Giant Huntsman was first discovered in a cave in Laos and was subsequently described not long after in 2001 by P. Jager. The discovery, which was fairly recent, was remarked upon by a representative for the World Wide Fund for nature, who suggested that it was pretty crazy that this species went undiscovered so long due to its enormous size! So far it’s only been found in Laos, so unless you live there, you probably don’t have much to worry about.

La Trobe University
La Trobe University is an Australian public university whose flagship campus, the largest metropolitan campus in the country, is located in Melbourne, Victoria. The university was established in 1964 following the assent of the La Trobe University Act by Victorian Parliament on 9 December of that year, becoming the third university in the State. While it does not share the architectural aesthetics of its sandstone peers, at its core La Trobe, as much as Monash, was 'among the last of the old universities in Australia.' Of the many aspirations set upon La Trobe by its distinguished founders, one of its most prominent achievements, and a great source of university pride, has been its long-standing commitment to providing access to higher education to those traditionally excluded from the sector. In 2015 it was ranked in the top 100 universities under 50 in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings.
La Trobe's flagship campus is located in the Melbourne suburb of Bundoora with two other major campuses located in the regional Victorian city of Bendigo and in the twin border cities of Albury-Wodonga. The university has two smaller regional campuses in Mildura and Shepparton, and three minor CBD campuses: two in Melbourne on Franklin Street and Collins Street, and one on York Street in Sydney.

藝苑掇英 Albert Tucker 阿爾伯特·塔克 (1914-1999) Expressionism Australia
tonykwk39@gmail.com
Albert Tucker was born in Melbourne, on 29 December 1914. His grandfather and namesake Albert Lee Tucker, MLA, was mayor of Fitzroy. By the time Albert was born his father, John Tucker, was working on railway maintenance. His mother Clara (née Davis) was aspirational, but with insufficient income the family found life difficult. Albert left school young and worked at subsistence jobs. By 1934 he was working at John Vickery’s commercial art studio in Collins Street and drawing freelance for women’s magazines. This brought him into contact with Melbourne’s creative artistic community, including the young modernist Sam Atyeo, and the conservative Sir John Longstaff. In 1933 he began attending evening classes at the Victorian Artists Society (VAS). Other evenings were spent at the old reading room of the State Library. He also haunted Gino Nibbi’s Leonardo Bookshop, and befriended the proprietor. Tucker exhibited for the first time at the VAS in 1933. A self portrait of 1937 attracted the attention of the Herald's art critic, Basil Burdett, and he left his full-time job. The same year he took some classes at the George Bell school but soon left, preferring to direct his own learning. Along with Bell and other discontented artists Tucker became a founding member of the Contemporary Art Society in 1938. In 1939 he bought a second hand camera, and it his photographs that so memorably records the life of the Angry Penguins circle in the 1940s.Through his friendship with Harry de Hartog and others he became involved in the Artists’ Branch of the Communist Party. From the late 1930s, Tucker’s art was increasingly influenced by Surrealism. His interest was endorsed by the art he saw in the 1939 Herald Exhibition of French and British Contemporary Art, which featured works by Dali, Ernst, de Chirico and Picasso.
In 1938 he became romantically involved with Joy Hester, an art student from the National Gallery School who began attending Victorian Artists Society life drawing classes, and in 1939 they moved in together.
Tucker and Hester married on 1 January 1941. By this time John and Sunday Reed were financially supporting Tucker’s career as well as befriending Hester and encouraging her art. At Heide they were joined by Sidney Nolan, whose ménage à trois with the Reeds was public knowledge.
In 1942, after Japan entered the war Tucker enlisted in the medical corps. His status as an artist led to him making illustrations for the officers at the Wangaratta base and after a bout of pneumonia was medically discharged in October 1943. The sight of shell-shocked and profoundly injured soldiers newly returned from the front continued to haunt him for the rest of his life, and coloured the direction of his art.
Tucker began to paint works based on his disgust at the sexual promiscuity of young girls in times of war, a concern that evolved into a savage critique of strong female sexuality. Many of his paintings are dominated by a shape based on a full-lipped woman’s mouth, evolving into an agressive lipstick pink crescent, and this shape recurred for the rest of his painting life.
After leaving the Army, Tucker worked for a while with Arthur Boyd at his pottery at Murrumbeena, but then resumed work on bq). Images of Modern Evilbq). , an emotionally searing response to young girls, American soldiers and the War. On 4 February 1945 Joy gave birth to their son Sweeney (although Sunday later claimed that Tucker may not have been the father).
In early 1947 Tucker visited Japan, and saw the devastation of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, images that would always stay with him. He met with Japanese artists and painted portraits of American officers to raise money to buy cultured pearls for resale in Australia. On his return from Japan he was told that Joy had been diagnosed with Hodgkins Disease, and had two years to live. In his absence Joy had met the artist Gray Smith, and when she was told of her illness the marriage was over. Hester left Sweeney with Tucker who left the baby with the Reeds while he considered his future. He was eventually persuaded to allow them to adopt his son. It was a decision Tucker regretted for the rest of his life.
He died of a heart attack at a private hospital where Barbara had taken him for tests.
Albert Lee Tucker (29 December 1914 – 23 October 1999),was an Australian artist, and member of the Heide Circle, a group of modernist artists and writers that centred on the art patrons John and Sunday Reed, whose home, Heide, located in Bulleen, near Heidelberg (outside Melbourne), was a haven for the group.

SUMMARY
=======
The monarchy of Australia concerns the form of government in which a hereditary king or queen serves as the nation's sovereign and head of state. Australia is governed under a form of constitutional monarchy, largely modelled on the Westminster system of parliamentary government, while incorporating features unique to the Constitution of Australia. The present monarch is Elizabeth II, styled Queen of Australia, who has reigned since 6 February 1952. She is represented in the entire nation of Australia by the Governor-General, in accordance with the Australian Constitution and letters patent from the Queen. In each of the Australian states, the monarch is represented by a governor, appointed directly by the Queen on the advice of each of her respective state governments. The governor of each Australian state is assisted by a lieutenant-governor.
Australian constitutional law has provided since Federation in 1901 that the monarch of the United Kingdom is also the monarch in Australia. This is understood today to constitute a separate Australian monarchy, the monarch acting with regard to Australian affairs exclusively upon the advice of Australian ministers. Australia is thus one of the Commonwealth realms, sixteen independent countries that share the same person as monarch. The role and future of the monarchy has been a recurring topic of public discussion.

Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain
Now learn the vast amount of general knowledge available on Wikipedia through audio (audio article). You could even learn subconsciously by playing the audio while you are sleeping! If you are planning to listen a lot, you could try using a bone conduction headphone, or a standard speaker instead of an earphone.
