Warrah Lookout - Brisbane Waters National Park - Central Coast NSW
Warrah Lookout is a mostly fenced lookout on a large sandstone platform. The lookout provides fantastic views across the Hawkesbury River. From left to right, you can see along the escarpment which forms the southern boundary of Brisbane Water National Park, out to the Pacific Ocean, Barrenjoey Headland, West Head, along Cowan Creek, Juno Point and along the escarpment to Patonga. This is a great place to spend some time soaking up the views.
Patonga to Warrah Trig
This short walk (about 5km return) takes us from the Patonga wharf up to the Warrah Lookout and Trig along the Great North Walk, giving great views over Broken Bay. Patonga is the trackhead on the Northern side of Broken Bay.
Patonga also has the best fish and chip shop....
Great North Walk - Patonga to Wondabyne - Part 1
Great North Walk - 2-day hike - Patonga to Wondabyne Station via Mt Wondabyne - Part 1 - (Patonga to Mt Wondabyne)
Starting at the peaceful Patonga beach, the walk rises to the cliffs looking South across Broken Bay from Warrah lookout. Then climbing north to the top of the ridge and following some fire trails through banksia scrub, eucalypt forests, and descending to the rainforest palms and ferns of Patonga creek before rising again to mossy rock platforms, pools, and rock formations with filtered views east to Brisbane Water, Woy Woy and north to Mt Wondabyne.
The highlight of the walk was sunset at Mt Wondabyne, the highest point in the area, with stunning 360-degree views. Camping overnight in solitude at Mt Wondabyne.
Lots of plants and wildflowers, Banksias, Xanthoraeas, Cycads, Palms, Red Gums, Scribbly Gums, Boronias, Wattles, Beautiful lookouts and birds.
Can you spot the lyrebird at 2:16?
Recording with iPhone XR. This is the first time I have attached my camera to my chest strap. While I got a lot of footage, the camera angle was sometimes too high and occasionally very jerky like riding a camel.
Long Weekend Camping at Patonga.
We take the new Stockman Pod Expedition Trailer for a test run at Patonga. It was fun winter camping for a long weekend there by the water. We walked along the fire trail from Pearl Beach to Patonga. It's all in Brisbane Water National Park which has many red gums. We explored sandstone overhang caves and then took a small detour to Warrah lookout which is one of the best vantage points on the central coast. It has views over the Pacific Ocean and lower Hawkesbury river. We also drove the dirt road to Warrah Trig which was fun. The Pod camper worked out well.
Kariong's Aboriginal Rock Carving of a Whale. Central Coast
The whale is found on the opposite side of the road to the Bulgandry Aboriginal Carvings ........ very hard to see in the video.
Patonga Beach to Pearl Beach
Nice 4.5km (each way) scenic walk along the Northern side of Broken bay. Great views.
I've walked the first part of this walk to Warrah Lookout several times as part of the Great North Walk, but haven't walked down into Pearl Beach. The return walk makes a nice half-day walk.

96 minutes drive from Sydney and 100 minutes drive from Newcastle is a quiet coastal village of Patonga, on the old maps it was writen as “Betonga” that means Oyster in Aboriginal. The place is the southern most beach area of Central Coast. Located on the very edge of Brisk Bay, the waters here are calm and quiet which is good for swimming. It features boat ramp, children’s play area and a public wharf.
The major feature of this sea-side village is the significantly untouched plant life and animals reserves, that offers spectacular background to the waterways. Part of this area is Brisbane Water National Park, a large piece of the are is a woodland that is also a recreation area. The various attractions available for locals and tourist to enjoy are the bright white sand ocean beach front, woodland hillsides, open parkland foreshores, and the very well maintained caravan parks and camping area at the southern end of the Patonga Peninsula. You can also enjoy boating as there aremany boats and boat ramps for hire businesses along the area.
Enjoy the majestic view of the ocean on Warrah Lookout, the most prominent vantage point in Patonga. On the western side of the coastal village is the Waratah Patch where you can get mesmerize by the natural waratah flowers as it blooms in months of September and October. A short walk in the Tony Doyle Walking Trail will lead you to a platform that is overlooking the Broken Bay. There are also other colourful wild flowers from the month of July to October near the viewing area. Follow the Doyle Track that crosses over a dirt road to get to the Pearl Beach and Patonga Village.

Patonga to Wondabyne (Great North Walk)
This great 19km walk, in Brisbane Water National Park, takes us from Patonga on the Northern shore of Broken Bay to Warrah trig, then across to Mt Wondabyne to Kariong Brook Falls and Myron Creek, leading up to the ridge at the junction with Mooney Mooney Track to descend down the Wondabyne railway station.
This video is a re-edited composite of my Patonga to Woy Woy and Woy Woy to Wondabyne videos.

Berowra Waters to Cowan (Great North Walk)
This is a great 7.5km walk along the Great North Walk. There are three good climbs on this walk, with the second climb being the hardest, but the third climb tested my knees!. Fantastic country. Unfortunately my HD camera died shortly after the start, so had to use my phone camera. I apologise for the video quality. Guess I might have to walk it again!

The Brisbane Water dolphin was out at Kooleowng boat ramp today. Managed to grab some footage using the GoPros.

Piles Creek Loop Walk - Brisbane Water National Park, Kariong NSW
Piles Creek Loop Walk - Starting at the top of a ravine, the 4km loop track goes down and back up through a range of impressive micro-climates. The loop walk includes a number of overhanging sandstone caves on each side of the westerly and easterly facing ravine with the Piles Creek bridge crossing at the walk's base which is also the u-turn of the loop. We took the track west (right) to end with the amazing Illoura lookout.
To get there: Take the signs to the Kariong Reptile Park and it is a short signposted 1km from there. The picnic area is great for families and well maintained with a carpark, toilets, several gas & wood barbecue areas and detailed information maps at the top of the walk.
Narara Creek, 08 01 2013
We started our kayak of Narara Creek halfway upstream on a blistering hot (35 C) morning. It was still hot, but not too unpleasant, once on the water and out of the literally-take-your-breath-away wind. It is always amazing how removed one can feel on a waterway, which is gently (when not in flood) threading its way through suburbia.
