Woy Woy - The Venice of Australia
An area of considerable beauty, Woy Woy on the Central Coast is a quiet, easily accessible town with a relaxed seaside charm.
A town in the Gosford area, Woy Woy was first settled in the 1820s, and the local timbers, felled by timber getters and convicts, were used for boat building. Since the rail line opened from Sydney in 1888, Woy Woy has also been a tranquil stopping point for many travellers and tourists.
Activities around this area include boating, swimming, fishing and exploring the surrounding waterways and national parks. Take a walk from Pearl Beach to Patonga, glimpsing the fine ocean panorama through the beautiful Red Gums of Brisbane Water. Staples Lookout also offers a fantastic view of Brisbane Water and Woy Woy Bay. There is also a bike track, known as Tommo's Loop, which begins from the lookout and lets you take in the views as you wind down the ridge.
Choose from a range of tours, including fishing charters, walks and ferry rides to explore the many natural attractions. To sample the area's enviable tranquilty, go it alone and hire a houseboat.
For beautiful, fresh seafood and fine cuisine, The Boathouse and The Fisherman's Wharf both offer a great dining experience on the water's edge.
When in town, visit the Gnostic Corner shops for New Age gifts and readings, delicious healthy food, natural healing and yoga classes.

52 Local Secrets - Somersby Falls
Somersby Falls picnic area is the perfect place to escape from everyday life. Enjoy your meal amidst lush rainforest that feels a million miles away but in reality is so close to home.
It's a great place to picnic, with free barbecues and picnic tables and plenty of space to set up your own rug and chairs. Whether you picnic under the shade of tall trees at the far end of the carpark or next to Floods creek before it descends over the cascades, you're bound to see a bird or two. Make sure you look out for the industrious brush turkeys that might be keen on sharing your lunch.
When you've enjoyed a tasty barbecue and feel like stretching your legs, try the Somersby Falls walking track. It's a 500m return walk through rainforest that takes in views of the top and bottom waterfalls. The walk is steep and slippery in places, so keep an eye on the kids as they walk along the track.
