7. The Island of the Dolls in Mexico are where thousands of disturbing dolls hang from trees to quell the tormented screams of the ghost of a little girl who drowned there. Hundreds of people travel to the Haunted Island every year but in reality, it was never meant to be a tourist spot. You can get there by taking a two-hour boat ride from Mexico City and when you arrive you can see something that looks much like a nightmare. The dolls are in a clearing deep inside of the woods where thousands of dolls that have been mutilated hang from trees and hide among the thick branches. The dolls were put there by a man who thought they would soothe the disturbed ghost of a young girl who died there over 50 years ago and supposedly still haunts there today. Even more mysterious was the man that placed the dolls on the Island had a mysterious death in the woods.
6. The Skeleton Lake of Roopkundis located in India. The lake has hundreds of ancient skeleton surrounding it. In 1942, a British guard found the lake and made an alarming discovery. Approximately 16,000 feet above sea level was a frozen lake almost entirely full of skeletons. That summer the ice melted revealing, even more, remains floating in the water and lying haphazardly around the lake's edges. Something horrible had happened here. The British government was frightened of a Japanese land invasion and consequently sent a team of agents to determine if this was true. However, after they examined the skeletal remains, they realized these bones were not from Japanese soldiers they were much older than they had anticipated. DNA evidence dated the remains to 850 A.D, and all of the people had died in similar ways with blows to the head.
5. Most people will never be able to see Blood Falls in person but even just to see them in pictures intriguing. A waterfall with the color of blood stains the snow-white front of the Taylor Glacier, which is located in Antarctica. Scientists have run tests to determine the exact cause of the mysterious red flow and the found that the source is coming from a subterranean lake rich in the iron that gives the water its red hue. What is strange is that the most recent research has revealed microorganisms living 1,300 feet beneath the ice, and they are being sustained by the iron and sulfur in the water.
4. At a small waterfall in the Shale Creek Preserve section of Chestnut Ridge Park in suburban Buffalo, New York, behind the cascading falls, you might see what appears to be an optical illusion.Visitors can see a flickering golden fire peaking out from behind the falls. You will be able to smell it before you see it, and remarkably, it is a real flame that is fueled by what geologists call a macro seep of natural gas from the Earth below. A geological fault in the sedimentary rock allows about 1 kilogram of methane gas per day to escape to the surface. Where at some point in the early 20th century, a visitor had the idea to set it on fire. Occasionally the water will extinguish the flame, but there's always another hiker with a lighter to reignite it.
3. At the southwest corner of Lake Maracaibo in Venezuela has the world's highest frequency of lightning activity all thanks to a combination of humidity and elevation. With a little over 200 nights per year peaking in the months of May and October lightning flashes will fill the sky with an excess of sometimes 25 or more flashes per minute. The National Weather Service says that anything over 12 strikes per minute is considered as excessive. The area was named for the Catatumbo River which flows from Colombia in to Lake Maracaibo. The Catatumbo Lighting, has become a must-see for travelers who spend the majority of their nights wide awake and wide-eyed watching the show.
2. Jatinga is a completely normal town, but it is plagued by massive bird “suicides” that happen every between September and October. The huge amount of bird deaths occurs at the end of the monsoon months on dark and foggy nights. The birds can be attracted to the lights of villages and are then killed by the villagers in the town. Now groups of conservations are making an effort to decrease the number of bird deaths during this season.
1. The Catacombs of Paris are a giant ossuary and hold the remains of six million people. Located bellows the city’s streets the catacombs have been called the “World’s largest Grave” because of the number of individuals buried there. Now they serve as a curiosity as the bones have been carefully and almost artfully arranged. Here is a city of the dead waiting to be explored beneath the city of lights.

The World’s Strangest Underground Town in Australia
You wouldn’t quite believe it until you saw it. Today, we will take you to the moon, where you will view (with your own eyes) a bizarre moonscape comprising thousands of deep dark holes.
Just joking! This is not the moon, this is White Cliffs. This is Australia mate! Set in the middle of nowhere (1100km north-west of Sydney) this dot of a town has a rich opal mining history dating back to the 1800’s.
So much so, the landscape comprises thousands of hillocks of earth, dug and discarded in their quest to strike it rich, to find the mighty opal stone.
And would you know it, some smart fella (probably a kiwi) decided that the best place to live was in these holes. Crikey!
In this otherworldly destination, most of its 100 residents live underground, to escape the heat and the wild kangaroos that roam the outback. Is this the world’s most unusual town?

The Big Trip - Coffs Harbour - 30th March 2016
Located almost exactly halfway between Sydney and Brisbane, Coffs Harbour has the advantage of tranquil rainforests and long, sandy beaches. Coffs Harbour also provides many attractions, from the beautiful marine parks to the unique cartoon and surf museums.
We decided to spend a couple of nights here before heading to Byron Bay as it was a convenient mid way break from the extensive Greyhound Bus journey. It's a small town but it had a shopping centre and many places to eat and drink so it wasn't too rural, a little rough around the edges but we had a pleasant time adventuring out to the ocean and back.

Cuballing - Western Australia
The town of Cuballing has a population of approximately 300, and the whole Shire is approximately 600.
The Cuballing Hall was been re-painted inside and outside and restored to its original beauty.
The town seems to reside in the distant past and visitors may feel like they have stepped back to the 1930s. The town dates back to the 1880s and despite never developing like its near neighbour Narrogin, it manages to survive.
The major attraction in the area is the Dryandra State Forest which is one of the last remaining pockets of woodland in the wheat belt. This area will help people to understand what the wheat belt was like before it was cleared for cropping.
In the forest, there are still colonies of woylie, tammar and numbat plus over 100 species of birds. A guided tour of the area is available by tuning your radio to 100FM.
